Kia has engineered some of the most refine, economical and highperforming engines in the sector. Rio offers a 1.6-litre DOHC engine with Continuously Variable Valve Timing (CVVT) which really hits the sweet spot with a beautiful balance of power and fuel economy. The CVVT ensures the engine receives the optimal amount of air under all engine speeds. The 1.4-litre DOHC option offers maximum economy with quiet and velvety smooth performance and puts Rio among the most powerful in the class. With the engine choice comes the transmission choice too. Both engines can be mated with a 4-speed automatic transmission or 5-speed manual.
a. The Rio engines offer customers ‘best-in-class’ power outputs that anticipate a rising power trend across the small passenger car sector, led by the high-performing
1.6-litre CVVT gasoline engine which outputs Max. Power 110 ps / 82 kW at 6,000 rpm and Max. Torque 14.8 kg.m / 145.1 Nm at 4,500 rpm. The alternative is the 1.4-litre DOHC generating Max. Power 94 ps / 70 kW at 6,000 rpm and Max. Torque 12.7 kg.m /
124.5 Nm at 4,700 rpm. b. For relaxed, leisurely driving you can opt for the 4-speed automatic transmission. c. The 5-speed manual combines with an easy-shifting hydraulic clutch for those who prefer to take matters into their own hands.
Performance matters
Comfort and style are important, but Kia ensures that the safety of the driver and occupants is paramount. Dual front airbags and seatbelt pretensioning systema for the front seats, a side and curtain airbag option, steel unibody structure and doors reinforced with ultra high tensile strength steel bars will give occupants maximum protection. An anti-lock braking system further enhances safety, working together with ventilated front disc brakes and a 10-inch brake booster for excellent stopping power.
a. Dual front, front-side and side curtain airbags will gives occupants maximum protection during a collison. b. Rio has four-sensor ABS brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution(EBD) for highly efficient braking.
