Important Information
• Carefully read this manual for important safety information and operating instructions before using your vehicle.
• Please complete and return the enclosed Vehicle Registration Card, or call 1-800-348-0751 to register your vehicle by phone.
• The Kawasaki®ZX-7 is designed for use by children 11/2 - 4 years.
• Adult assembly is required.
• This vehicle uses a Power Wheels®Type H battery with a Power Wheels®25 amp fuse and a Power Wheels®Type H 6 volt charger (120 VAC 60 HZ 28W with an output of 6 VDC 1200 mA). Do not substitute any other battery, fuse or charger.
Before first-time use, charge the battery for at
least 18 hours. Never charge the battery longer than 30 hours.
• After the first charge, charge the battery a minimum of 18 hours after each use. Never charge the battery longer than 30 hours.
• Do not run down the battery completely before charging.
• Leaving the battery in a discharged condition will ruin it.
• Charge the battery before storing your vehicle.
• Charge the battery at least once per month, even if the vehicle has not been used.
• Do not store the battery in temperatures above 75˚ F or below -10˚ F.
• Even with proper care, the battery will not last forever. The life of the battery depends on how well you follow the Battery Care instructions and the total number of hours the battery is used. • To purchase a Power Wheels®Type H battery, Power Wheels®25 amp fuse or a Power Wheels®Type H 6 volt charger, please contact:
- the store where your vehicle was purchased.
- an Authorized Service Center (see Authorized
Service Center list beginning on page 35).
- Power Wheels®Consumer Affairs at 1-800-348-0751.
• While the battery is charging, the charger may become warm to the touch. This is normal, and does not indicate a problem.
• The Kawasaki®ZX-7 is suitable for use on asphalt, cement or other hard surfaces. To prevent damage to the motor and switches, do not operate the vehicle on loose dirt, gravel or sand.
• The Kawasaki®ZX-7 is not designed for use on grass or hills. For best traction, use only on asphalt, cement, or other flat, hard surfaces.
• To prevent damage to electrical components, store the Kawasaki®ZX-7 inside or under a protective cover during snowy or rainy weather. Do not leave the Kawasaki®ZX-7 out in the rain or let your child wash it with soap and water.
• The Kawasaki®ZX-7 has a special circuit-breaker in the wiring to protect the motor and electrical system. If the vehicle is put under extreme load (driving on rough surfaces, too much weight, climbing too steep of an incline), the circuit-breaker will shut the electrical system down for up to 20 seconds. If the system repeatedly shuts down, the driving conditions may be too demanding (ie: too steep or too much weight).
• Metal parts have been coated with a lubricant to protect them during shipment. Wipe all metal parts with a paper towel to remove any excess lubricant.

• Never permit a child to handle the battery. The battery is heavy and contains sulfuric acid (electrolyte), and if dropped, could result in a serious injury. Read the cautions on the back panel of the battery.
• Never lift or carry the battery by the wires or connector. This can damage the battery and possibly cause a fire. Lift and carry the battery by the case only.
Handling
If a battery leak develops:
Avoid contact with the leaking acid.
Place the damaged battery in a plastic bag. See
information below for proper disposal.
If acid comes in contact with skin or eyes:
Flush with cool water for at least 15 minutes.
Call a physician.
If acid is internally ingested:
Give water, milk of magnesia or egg whites immediately.
Never give emetics or induce vomiting.
Call a physician.
Disposal
The sealed lead-acid battery must be collected, recycled or disposed of in an environmentally sound manner.
Do not dispose of the lead-acid battery in your regular, household trash. The incineration, landfilling or mixing of a sealed lead-acid battery with household trash is prohibited by law in most areas.
Return the battery to a federal or state approved lead-acid battery recycler, such as a Power Wheels
Authorized Service Center or a local seller of automotive battery. In Minnesota, call 1-800-348-0751 if further disposal information is required. Contact your local waste management officials for other information regarding the environmentally sound collection, recycling and disposal of lead-acid batteries.

• Adult supervision is required. Children do not have the judgement necessary to avoid many accidents. Be sure that children operating this vehicle can do so safely and that they are supervised at all times.
• Never use on or dangerously close to steps, inclines greater than 10˚, roadways, bodies of water, low obstructions or in the dark.
• Always wear shoes or sneakers when operating this vehicle.
• Never allow more than one rider.
• The rider should sit on the seat when the vehicle is in motion.
• Improper use of this vehicle could lead to a serious or fatal accident. Allow children to play with the Kawasaki
®
ZX-7 only
when you have determined that they can do so safely. Follow all instructions to help your child enjoy this vehicle as safely as possible.
Teach Safety Rules to Children
While children can quickly develop the skill necessary to drive this vehicle, it is important to remember that their judgment skills are still very immature. Unsupervised driving by children can lead to serious injury. Before children use the Kawasaki
®
ZX-7, an
adult should carefully evaluate the driving area as well as the childrens skill level and ability to drive this vehicle safely.Children are not always able to recognize or anticipate hazards, even when they have been taught about them. There is no acceptable substitute for adult supervision.
Teach appropriate safety rules to your child before you allow her to operate this vehicle. These rules should also be reviewed with neighborhood children or other playmates who want to drive or ride in this vehicle.
• To avoid damaging the motor and gears, do not overload the vehicle.
- Never allow more than one child on the
vehicle at one time.
- Do not exceed the maximum weight
capacity of 50 lbs.
- Do not tow anything behind the
Kawasaki
®
ZX-7. The extra weight
may overload the vehicle.
• Avoid operating the vehicle in wet or snowy conditions, and do not spray the vehicle with a hose. Do not wash the vehicle with soap and water. Water or moisture in the motor or electrical switches can cause them to corrode, and could cause switch failure.
• Avoid operating the vehicle on sand, loose dirt or gravel. Sand, loose dirt and gravel in the electrical switches or motor can cause them to jam, and could cause switch failure. Use the Kawasaki
®
ZX-7
on asphalt, cement or other hard surfaces.
1. Do not allow any child to drive the vehicle in the
street or near moving (motorized) vehicles.
2. Do not allow any child to drive near bodies of
water (such as pools or creeks), obstructions (such as furniture, low tree limbs or play equipment), or drop-offs (such as stairs or decks).
3. Do not allow any child to drive the vehicle in
the dark. A child could encounter unexpected obstacles and have an accident. Operate the vehicle only in the daytime or in a well-lit area.
4. Teach your child to avoid driving on steep inclines
or slopes. Restrict your childs driving to areas that are fairly level with gentle inclines or slopes of no more than 10°.
While driving down a steep slope, the vehicle may gain unsafe speed, even if the foot pedal is released to stop.
