Lots of Fun Can’t Be Far Behind

Type “big fun in a small package” into your internet search and it might take you straight to the Kawasaki KLX250SF supermoto. Based on Kawasaki’s critically acclaimed KLX250S dual sport on/off-road bike, the SF dials up maximum on-road fun with sticky street radials mounted on 17-inch wheels, a lower 860 mm seat height, a bit less suspension travel and

a big front brake. It’s “just” a 250, but its light weight of just 137kg means the KLX250SF packs the sort of performance you’d expect from something bigger and more expensive. Few motorcycles — of any size or price — are capable of out-cornering it.

Ultra-Compact Liquid-Cooled Engine

•Flat top piston with pentroof combustion chamber delivers 11.0:1 compression ratio.

•Lightweight piston, piston pin and connecting rod allow

power-producing revs without excessive vibration.

• Maintains consistent running temperatures so less power is lost to heat.

Electric Starter

• Electric starter and the Kawasaki Automatic Compression Release (KACR), which automatically lifts an exhaust valve at cranking rpm, makes starting the KLX250SF easy.

4-Valve Cylinder Head

•Provides maximum valve area for optimum flow.

•Boosts low-end torque.

•38.5° included valve angle for a compact head with straighter, more efficient ports.

Double Overhead Cams

• A cam lobe for each valve with shim-under tappets has less reciprocating weight for efficiency at high rpm.

43 mm Inverted Cartridge Forks

•16-way compression damping allows riders to adjust for different road conditions for optimum performance.

Uni-Trak Rear Suspension

•The nitrogen-filled, aluminium body, remote reservoir rear shock has 20-way compression and rebound damping adjustment and threaded spring pre-load, shorter stroke helps keep the seat height low. Wheel travel reduced to reduce pitching motion under brakes.

•The lightweight, highly rigid aluminium D-section swingarm contributes to reduced unsprung weight.

Massive Front Petal Disc Brake

•Twin piston front calliper grasps a massive 300 mm semi-floating front petal disc for incredible stopping power.

•Single piston rear caliper and a large 240mm petal disc for enhanced braking performance.

O-Ring Drive Chain

•O-rings seal the dirt and water out, keep lubrication in for longer chain life.
