Cautions on the monitor:
• The monitor built in this unit has been produced with high precision, but it may have some ineffective dots. This is inevitable and is not malfunction.

• Do not operate the touch panel using a ball-point pen or similar tool with the sharp tip.
Touch the buttons on the touch panel with your
finger directly (if you wear a glove, take it off).
• When the temperature is very cold or very hot...
– Chemical changes occur inside, causing
malfunction.
– Pictures may not appear clearly or may move
slowly. Pictures may not be synchronized with the sound or picture quality may decline in such environments.

INTRODUCTION

Basic operations — Main unit

Operations are explained mainly using the touch panel; however, you can use the buttons on the unit and remote controller if they have the same or similar names or marks.

Basic operations — Remote controller (RM-RK253)

When you use the remote controller for the first time, pull out the insulation sheet.

Warning: To prevent accidents and damage
• Do not install any battery other than CR2025 or its equivalent.
• Do not leave the remote controller in a place (such as dashboards) exposed to direct sunlight for a long time.
• Store the battery in a place where children cannot reach.
• Do not recharge, short, disassemble, or heat the battery or dispose of it in a fire.
• Do not leave the battery with other metallic materials.
• Do not poke the battery with tweezers or similar tools.
• Wrap the battery with tape and insulate when throwing away or saving it.
Before using the remote controller:
• Aim the remote controller directly at the remote sensor on the unit.
• DO NOT expose the remote sensor to bright light (direct sunlight or artificial lighting).
If the range of effectiveness of the remote controller decreases, replace the battery.
To replace the battery:
Caution:
Battery shall not be exposed to excessive heat such as sunshine, fire or the like.

Caution for DualDisc playback
The Non-DVD side of a “DualDisc” does not comply with the “Compact Disc Digital Audio” standard. Therefore, the use of Non-DVD side of a DualDisc on this product may not be recommended.

Clock setting

Before operating the unit, set the clock.
• If no operation is done for about 15 seconds, the menu operation will be canceled.

Adjusting the monitor brightness

• If no operation is done for about 5 seconds, the adjustment bar will disappear.

Picture adjustment for “AV-IN” and “CAMERA”
When the source is “AV-IN” or “CAMERA” and video signals are coming in, “Picture Menu” screen appears in step 1 above. Press PICTURE on the unit or on the remote to select an item to adjust, then adjust it by following step 2 above.
Sharpness Adjust the sharpness. Color Adjust the color of the picture—
lighter or darker.
Contrast Adjust the contrast. Brightness Adjust if the picture is too bright or
too dark.
Tint Adjust the tint if the human skin
color is unnatural.

• Pressing any button will also turn on the monitor.
Dimmer function
According to the use of the dimmer function, connect the ILLUMI lead as follows:
For Auto Dimmer: Connect it to the car headlight switch. When you turn on the car lights, dimmer starts working—Auto Dimmer
For Constant Dimmer: Connect it to the car battery (constant 12 V). Dimmer works whenever you turn on the power.
For Dimmer Off: Connect it to nowhere.

This function works only for FM bands. Once you have activated this function, it always works when searching for FM stations.

You can search for a station broadcasting the program you want to listen to by previewing stations.

• When a station is detected, the unit tunes in to this station for about 10 seconds (the frequency on the monitor flashes), then start searching for the next available station.

Disc operations

The disc type is automatically detected, and playback starts automatically (for some discs: automatic start depends on its internal program).
• Playback will stop after playing back all chapters/tracks on the disc.

Caution on volume setting:
Discs produce very little noise compared with other sources. Lower the volume before playing a disc to avoid damaging the speakers by the sudden increase of the output level.

Restricting playback
You can restrict playback of DVD Video containing violent scenes and those unsuitable for your family members.
• Playback of discs containing higher level than the selected level will be restricted. Some discs may not be played back at all, and others may be played back with higher level scenes skipped.
• This setting takes effect only for a DVD Video containing restriction level information.
