CAD Library
The Husky CAD Library contains 2D files and 3D solids that can be merged directly into your designs for verification or
subtraction operations. This enables interference checking to ensure that the nozzle/gating style combination is comp atible
with your application. The Husky CAD Library is available in both 2D and 3D file formats:
2D *.DXF, *.PRT, *IGS
3D *.X_T, *.PRT, *.IGS
These files are to be used as a guide only. Do NOT cut steel based on this geometry, since the final design geometry is
subject to change based on project specific design constraints, part characteristics, and resin properties. Husky also
provides ready to install gate inserts with the gate details already machined .
NOTE:
All CAD files are for preliminary layout purposes only. Contact Husky to confirm final dimensions.
2D CAD Files
The 2D CAD files available include the following section views:
• Gate Details - All gating methods for Ultra 250 - Ultra 1000, and 1250 Series
• Nozzle Assemblies - All standard nozzle housing lengths for Ultra 250 - Ultra 1000, and 1250 Series
• Manifold Installation - Standard manifold thickness (dependent on number of drops; see below table.)

Applications that exceed 16 drops, require an engineering review to determine actual manifold and plate thick-
nesses. The use of bridges and/or cross manifolds are dependent on the gating methods used, and layouts.

Building a 2D Hot Runner Section Drawing
The tables on the following pages list each 2D CAD file with a corresponding description to help in selecting the correct
files. Follow the subsequent steps to build a 2D section drawing:
1. Merge the desired gate detail (see table).
2. Once the gate has been merged, select the appropriate nozzle assembly file based on gating style - thermal or valve
gate (see table.) Each nozzle assembly file includes all standard nozzle housing lengths; select the desired housing
length. The nozzle should be merged at the intersection of the gate centerline and back of the tip.
3. Once the nozzle has been merged, select the correct manifold file that corresponds to the number of drops for the
given design (see table). The manifold should be merged in at the intersection of the gate centerline and back of the
nozzle housing.
4. Ungroup the drawing and move the sprue geometry to the injection centerline. Trim all plate geometry to the cavity
plate. The hot runner section view assembly is now complete.
NOTE:
The files contained within this database should be used for assembly drawing applications only. The drawings are to
scale and should be used for layout purposes only.
Merge Point
For the 2D gate detail CAD files, the merge p oint s are defined as one of 3mm solid circles indicated in the below drawings.
All CAD Library components are oriented on the x-axis with the injection point originating from the right. Therefore, it is
important to define the angle of orientation when merging a component.

Assembling a 3D Single Drop Model
3D CAD files are available for download as solid models for both Hot S prue and Sing le Cavity Valve Gate configurations in
three formats (.igs, .prt, x_t.) Follow the subsequent steps to assemble a 3D model of a single drop system:
• Merge the desired single drop installation solid into your mold design.
• Once the installation solid has been merged, import the desired 3D gate det ail. Ensure the center ax is of the gate detail
solid is aligned with the single drops’ center axis.
• Ensure the rear extremity of the single drop assembly is flush with the injection face of the cavity plate.
• Position the front extremity of the gate detail solid on the molding surface.
• Stretch the front face of the nozzle solid to mate with the gate detail solid.
• Refer to www.hotrunners.com/tools/hrdc to ensure that the resulting PL-Dimension is within the acceptable ranges
identified for the Single Drop configuaration selected
