HUSKY offers a full line of standard plate size hot runners which have all the features of our custom systems but are offered at lower cost and faster deliveries. KP-series plates have been designed to mate with Hasco industry-standard mold bases and the manifolds have been designed to provide a large degree of flexibility when laying out cavities. Other series are also available for DME and National mold bases (SP-series), Futaba mold bases (FP-series) and OMNI Mold Systems mold bases (MP-series).

Pronto hot runners are available in 2, 4 and 8 drop configurations with VG, VX, & HT Ultra 500 & Ultra 750 nozzles. The plastic material to be processed should be reviewed with the material compatibility chart available in the nozzle

selection section of the Hot Runner Design Center (www.hotrunners.com considered is suitable for the Pronto manifold and Ultra 500 and Ultra 750 nozzle. The appropriate melt channel sizes will be selected by Husky based on the resin and part information provided.

PRONTO Hot Runner System Selection

Pronto Hot Runners are designed to mate directly with the most popular industry standard mold bases. Replacing the top clamp plate of a standard mold set with a Husky hot runner will give you a complete runnerless mold solution. Pronto KPseries systems are available with 40 different sizes of plates which can be ordered in 2, 4, and 8-drop manifold configurations. Flexible nozzle spacing and L-dimensions and 16 gating styles provide maximum flexibility.

Standard features and options of Pronto Hot Runner Systems include:

• Flexible nozzle spacing within allowable range for given plate size.

• A large number of M12 cavity plate interface taps of which a minimum number must be incorporated into the mold design.

• Choice of platen mounting methods: backing plate wider than manifold plate for bolting direct to platen or backing p late the same size as manifold plate and clamp slots installed on operator and non-operator sides of plates.

• Backing plate overhang always on operator and non-operator sides.

• Industry standard (Hasco, Stäubli, and DME) air fittings recessed on the non-operator side of the mold and water fittings recessed on the bottom of the mold.

• For 2 and 4 drop systems a choice of: one 24-pin connector, two 24-pin connectors, one 24-pin and one 25-pin, one 16-pin and one 25-pin or two 16-pin electrical connectors located on top of the hot runner with a flexible wiring sequence.

• For 8 drop systems a choice of: four 24-pin connectors, two 24-pin and two 25-pin, two 16-pin and two 24-pin, two 16pin and two 25-pin or four 16-pin electrical connectors located on top of the hot runner with a flexible wiring sequence.

• Optional 6mm platen insulator board.

• Choice of 100mm, 101.3mm, 101.6mm, 120mm, 125mm or 160mm locating ring diameter.

• Choice of flat, 12.70mm, 15.50mm, 19.05mm or 40.0m m spherical radius sprue bushing interface.

• Liftbolt taps on the sides of the plates. M12, M16 or M24 threads depending on plate size (not user selectable).

• Plunger shut-off standard (Ultra 500 & Ultra 750 VG & VX). Ultr a 750 taper available upon request.

HUSKY recommends the use of a 25mm spacer plate between the cavity plate and the hot runner plates if any mold components require steel back-up. The orientation of the manifolds within the hot runner plates is pre-determined by Husky.

PRONTO Platen Mounting

Two choices of platen mounting are available:

• The backing plate width, "W", can be the same as the manifold plate and Husky will install clamp slots on the long sides of the plates.

How to Configure PRONTO Hot Runners

To configure Pronto hot runners follow the three simple steps below. 1 Determine the nozzle pitch required for the mold design and ensure that it is within the allowable range for the desired

size of plates. 2 Select the gating method suitable to your application. 3 Determine the required L-dimension from the range available for the selected gating style. The L-dimension is the

distance from the face of the manifold plate to the centerlin e of th e ga te .

For example, for a 296 x 446 hot runne r with a 4 drop, H-Type manifold, , 750 no zzle size, 58.70 mm manifold X-dim ension using HT tips and 85.20 mm L-dimension order:

STEP 1 - Ensure that the selected nozzle pitch is within the allowable guidelines of the plate model as shown in the charts on the following pages.

• 2A, 2B, and 2C manifolds have a minimum X-dimension of 60mm for Ultra 500 & Ultra 750 thermal gates [HT and (TS

750)] and 70mm for 500 and 750 valve gates (VG and VX).

• 4L manifolds have a minimum X-dimension of 60mm and a minimum Y-dim ension of X + 45mm for 500 & 750 thermal

gates. 4L manifolds have a minimum X-dimension of 70mm and a minimum Y-dimension of X + 57mm for 500 & 750

valve gates (VG and VX).

• 4H manifolds have a minimum X-dimension of 50mm and a minimum Y-dimension of 50mm for all nozzle sizes and

gating options.

• 8H manifold minimum X & Y dimensions are as follows:

• HT 500 [Min ’X’ = 18.0mm / Min ’Y1’ = 44.5mm / Min ’Y2’=Y1+25.4mm]

• HT 750 [Min ’X’ = 22.5mm / Min ’Y1’ = 43mm / Min ’Y2’ = Y1 + 45mm,

• VG 500/750 [Min ’X’ = 25mm / Min ’Y1’ = 55mm / Min ’Y2’ = Y1 + 50mm
