Overview
This section explains the outline for the Easy Setup.
What is Easy Setup?
Easy Setup is a function that saves the settings for the TM-i series EPSON TMNet WebConfig on
USB memory, copying it to a different TM-i. You can perform settings for multiple TM-i devices
quickly and efficiently.
If you are using a printer that can be controlled (a TM printer connected to a network), you can
also perform their network settings at the same time.

Use the following procedure to save the settings on USB memory.
Use the EasyKittingUtility.xls file included with this manual or a text editor

to create a setting.ini file.
Copy the setting.ini file and the web content file to the USB memory.

Perform settings on the printer to be copied to, using the following procedure.
Insert the USB memory.

Set roll paper in the TM-i, and turn the power on.

If you are using a printer that can be controlled (a TM printer connected

to a network), perform the following steps.
1. Connect the printer that can be controlled to the TM-i, set the roll paper in the TM printer,
and then turn the power on.

2. To reset to factory settings, press and hold the switch on the back of a printer that can be
controlled for more than 10 seconds.
For details on the connection procedure, etc., see the Technical Reference Guide
for the TM-i series.
Turn the TM-i power on.

An ethernet cable is used to connect to the router. The TM-i is
also connected to the router.
A USB cable is used to connect to the TM-i.
Check the shape of the USB port on the back of the TM printer to
see what type of USB cable can be used.
Connection method
Settings are started automatically, and the result is printed.
While performing an easy setup, you cannot install the LAN cable wireless set (OTWL01). Install the LAN cable wireless set (OT-WL01) after easy setup is complete.
If you are using a printer that can be controlled (a TM printer connected

to a network), print a status sheet for the TM printer.
Confirm that the settings for the TM printer have been changed successfully.

Preparing the setting file
This section explains the method for creating the setting files to save on the USB memory.
Setting files to save to USB memory
Save the following setting files on the USB memory in order to perform Easy Setup for the TM-i.

You must edit the contents of the setting.ini file to match the settings.
Refer to "Editing the setting.ini file" on page 12.
When using ePOS-Print API, ePOS-Print XML, or direct server printing,
additional files refers to web content and style sheets that are saved in
the TM-i.

The setting.ini file is written as follows. Edit the contents to match your settings.
Although it might not be necessary to set a particular item, do not delete that item.
Refer to general ini files for details about the format of character strings in the setting.ini
file.
For the following one-byte symbols, use the corresponding URL encoded strings in the
setting.ini file.
