Receiver Programming
The 8059 receiver responds to transmit ter codes defined by facility codes and but ton numbers. The receiver can
be programmed to respond only to but ton 1 while a second receiver can be programmed to respond only to button 2. A t wo (2) button transmit ter can activate two (2) different receivers without fear of both receivers responding to the same transmitter code and button. Like wise one receiver can be pro grammed to respond to a specific
facilit y code while another can be programme d for a different f acilit y code. In Wie gand output mode, you have
the option to decide if you want the receiver to match facility codes or not.
The receiver has seven programming functions:
1. Master Transmitter Programming
2. Transmitter Prgramming
3. 26-bit Wiegand Prgramming
4. 31-bit Wiegand Prgramming
5. Facility Code Match Prgramming
6. No Facility Code Match Prgramming
7. Memory Erase.
Installation
Install the 8059 receiver in a location where the antenna is not surrounded by metal. For better reception, when
mounting the antenna use a coax antenna kit and amplif ier (Coax Antenna Kit p/n 8060-074, Antenna Amplif ier
p/n 8058-080). T he 8059 receiver is not designed to be installed outdoors, for outdoor installation an enclosure is
required (Outdoor Enclosure p/n 8057-110).
IMPORTANT:
Be sure the antenna, coax shield and F connector are completely isolated from the ground.
When troubleshooting, two (2) Wiegand output LED’s are provided on the side of the receiver case. These
LED’s will b link as Wiegand data is being transmit ted.
Stand-Alone Wiring
1. Connect 12-24 Volt AC or DC power to terminals 1 and 2. If DC power is used, terminal 1 is NEGATIVE and
terminal 2 is POSITVE. Use minimum18 AWG wire to power the receiver.
2. Connect the receiver relay contacts to the device to be activated. Terminal 3 is NORMALLY OPEN (N.O.),
terminal 4 is NORMALLY CLOSED (N.C.) and terminal 5 is COMMON (C). Use 18 AWG wire to connect the
receiver relay contacts to the operating device.
Wiegand Wiring
Terminal 2 is INPUT POWER (12-24 V), terminal 6 is Wiegand COMMON, terminal 7 is Wiegand DATA 0, and terminal 8 is
Wiegand DATA 1. Use 22 AWG shielded wire, maximum 200 feet, for Wiegand wiring. Connect these terminals to the
corresponding terminals on the Wiegand controller. Refer to the Wiegand controller installation manual 1815, 1817 or
1818 for detailed wiring information.
Master Transmitter Programming
The 8059 receiver master transmitter fuction allows you to program up to 4 (four) master transmitters. When a “Master
Transmitter” is activated, the receiver will automatically go into learn mode allowing additional transmitters to be pro-
grammed into the receiver memory.
NOTE:
Master transmitters are not intended to be used as regular transmitters. Keep all master transmitters
in a safe place.
Press and hold the receiver programming button and follow the flashing LED sequence as shown.
The receiver is now in master transmitter program mode. Select a transmitter to designate as a master transmitter
press the button ; the but ton, facility code and transmitter number are programmed into the receiver as a master
transmitter. The button, facility code and transmitter number must match in order to put the receiver into the
regular learn mode.
Transmitter Programming
1. Press and hold the receiver programming but ton or the “Master Transmitter” button until the programming
LED flashes once (about 2 seconds), and release. The programming LED will flash once every second
indicating that you are in the transmitter programming mode.
2. While the programming LED is flashing, activate the transmitter(s) so that the receiver can record the
transmitter code (s) into memory. A maximum of 80 transmit ter codes can b e stored in the receiver memory.
3. When all the transmit ter have been programmed, wait ten (10) seconds, the programming LED will
come on for thre e (3) seconds and then go out indicating that the programming sequence has ended.
Wiegand Programming
At least one transmit ter code must be programmed into the re ceiver memory, allowing the re ceiver to respond to
the facility code and transmitter button that will be used. This step is ne cessar y so that the re ceiver knows which
button to respond to. For example, if a two (2) button transmitter code is programmed into the receiver using
button 2, the receiver will only respond to transmitter codes initiated by button 2. To have a receiver respond to
both buttons, you can program the transmitter code into the receiver twice, using but ton 1 and 2. If using more
than one facility code, or if the receiver is to respond to different transmitter but tons, simply program additional
transmitters, refer to Stand-Alone Programming.
NOTE:
The factory setting is for 26-bit and requires a facility code match. You need to program a transmitter into
the receiver, refer to Stand-Alone Programming.
Receivers manufactured prior 11/98 (board program chip REC 2) do not have the programming capability to
ignore facilit y codes. These receivers will always che ck the facilit y code.
