discs. 2) Countermeasure for the malfunction on the DVI Indication Area.
Symptom: 1) Sound interruption occurs upon playing back the following discs.
(1) Upon playback of DVD Audio, "Rainbow/Ayumi Hamasaki", sound interruption occurs. (2) Upon playback of DVD Audio, such as "Fragile/Yes", "Sinatra at the
sands/Frank Sinatra", "A Night at the opera/Queen" and "Symphony No. 6/Beethoven", sound interruption occurs between the Tracks.
(3) Digital Noise is audible upon performing fast-forward or fast-backward operation of DVD Audio "Violin Concertos/W. A. Mozart" (4) Upon playback of DVD Video "Stewart Little II", image noise like lines appears horizontally on the right side of the Picture, around the Chapter 50:15:24.
2) Outer edges of the Picture appear like a framework when the DVI connectable DLP Projector VP-12S-2 manufactured by MARANTZ was connected to the subject models in the DVI connection. For example:
• At 480P Output: The upper edge and bottom edge portions on the Picture appear like Red lines.
• At 720P/1080i Output: Four sides of the Picture look like a black frame. In 720P, the right side appears widely, and in 1080i, the left side appears widely.
Solution: The firmware for rewriting the Back-end MICON has been updated.
By changing the Program Software at this time, the following malfunction can also be improved.

CONFIDENTIALITY NOTICE:
• Improving the malfunction of the DVI Black Level, i.e., the Black Level appears to be unbalanced depending on the Display used, even if the DVI BK Level was set to "ENHANCED". Please record the file onto a CD-R or CD-RW disc, and apply the following modification to your customer's unit when it is brought into your service bench due to some other reasons or upon claim.
• Before the modification, please be sure to confirm the Version of the Back-end MICON. To confirm the Version, please refer to the next page item #2)-(2).
• If the Version was ESS 6334-1, refer to the OST-789 and apply the modification in the OST-789 according to the items (3) ~ (5) in item #2), Details of the Working Contents. (Replacement of chip type resistors)
Note: When applying the modification in OST-789 to the above models, please be sure to apply this modification to those models simultaneously.
1) Working Procedures: (1) Rewrite the Back-end ROM. (2) Confirmation of the Version. (3) Confirmation of the actual operation.
Cautions upon rewriting the Back-end MICON by means of the CD-R or CD-RW disc:
• Please do not turn off the Power of the unit during the rewriting operation. If the Power was turned off during the operation, you have to replace the Flash IC104.
• During the rewriting operation, if the Indication does not turn into "DONE", and the "READING" or other indications remained displaying, wait for more than two minutes after closing the Loader. Then, turn off the Power of the unit and start the rewriting operation from the beginning.
Note: If the Flash IC was damaged, please order a new IC, and replace the IC104 for Back-end with the new one. After the replacement of IC104, please be sure to rewrite the software program in the IC104 according to this Service Information.
Note: Upon recording the Program File on a CD-R or CD-RW, the format shall be "ISO9660", and the session shall be "CLOSE".
