Subject: Countermeasure for a play back malfunction with particular DVD
Video Discs.
Symptom: 1) The unit generates block noise during the playback of particular
DVD Video Disc "Tora-san's Shattered Romance".
2) The output sound turns into noise when playing back the particular chapter on
a particular DVD Video Disc. (The chapter 7, title 2 of Neujahrskonzert New
year's concert 2005, wiener philharmoniker lorin maazel)
3) The reddish belt-like block noise appears during the playback of particular
DVD Video Disc. (Title: Split-away to a romance from the past)
Solution:
MODIFICATION: (Upon refurbishment of the unit and/or claim) Record the Back-
end update file onto a blank CD-R separately and individually, and update the
Back-end on your customer's unit.
Note:
• By rewriting the Back-end, the version of the DRV will be changed to "030825".
Caution:
• When recording the file(s) onto a blank CD-R, the format shall be "ISO9660"
and the session shall be "CLOSE".
• When recording the program file on the CD-R, please record it at the 4-times
speed of the normal speed.
• When the 4-times speed is not available, please record it at the minimum speed
that is available in your machine.

1) DVD-5900 to which the 2nd Edition of DENON Link has been applied:
• Name of the File: d39hsavd.cfw
• Version: 6334-I/MAKE DAY609
2) DVD-5900 to which the 3rd Edition of DENON Link has been applied:
• Name of the File: d39hsavd.cfw
• Version: 6334-I/MAKE DAY609D
Note: The contents of the program files differ though their names are the same.
Therefore, please do not apply the above program file for the 3rd Edition DENON
Link to the unit equipped with the 2nd Edition, or the above program file for the
2nd Edition of DENON Link to the unit equipped with the 3rd Edition. If you
rewrote the unit by mistakes, rewrite the unit by means of the correct program
file.
How to identify which Edition of DENON Link has been installed:
Confirm the version of the DENON Link at the SETUP of the unit according to the
following procedures.
1) Switch the Power of the unit on, and press the SETUP button so that the
SETUP OSD is displayed.
2) Adjust the cursor to the item of DENON Link in the AUDIO SETUP.
3) If the items of the DENON Link are only "OFF" and "2nd" only, the unit is
conforming to the 2nd Edition of the DENON Link. If the items are "OFF", "2nd"
and "3rd", then the unit is conforming to the 3rd Edition.
Updating procedures of the System MICON and Back-end ROM:
1) Updating the System MICON:
(a) Switch the Power of the unit on, press "OPEN/CLOSE" button and open the
Disc Tray.
