Paper
z
Please use only the paper types specified for use by Canon.
z
Paper must be printed on the glossy side (the side without any printed markings).
Always load paper into the cassettewith the glossy side up. Loading the paperthe wrongwaymay resultinpoor print quality, and in some casesmay causedamage to the printer.
z
Donot tear orbend the paper’sperforated edges before printing.
Tearingthe paper’s perforated edges will cause the inksheet to wind upautomatically andwasteoneprint’sworthof ink. If this happens, there will not be enough ink left to print all the paper sheets included inthekit.
z
Donot use label sheetsonwhich labelsare partially peeled off.
Always hold the paper along the edges (outside the perforated border).Be sure thathands are drybefore touching the paper. Sharpobjects will scratch the papersurface. Keep the paper surface free fromfingerprints, dust, water droplets, etc.

Battery (sold separately)
z
Do not carry or store the battery pack with metal objects with sharp edges, such as
paper clips and pins. Always put the terminal cover on the battery pack’s terminal when
carrying it or before storing it.
z
Remove the battery pack when the printer isnot in use.
The batterypackcontinues to discharge a small amount when left in the printereven with the power turned off. Thisshortens the battery life.
z
Theprinter consumes thebattery charge when the poweris oneven when a functionisnotbeing used. Toconserve thebattery charge, be particularlyattentivein turning thepower off.
z
Although the battery pack’smaximum operating range is 5 to 40 °C (41 to 104 °F),the optimal range is 10 to 30 °C (50 to 86°F).
At cold temperatures, such asthose experiencedon ski hills, performance will temporarilydecline, reducing the usable time.
z
If the battery status is low, the finished print may not be ejectedinto the print outputreceptacle completely.
If this happens, gentlypulloutthe paper.
z
When the printer is notin use, removethe battery pack, replace its terminal coverandstore it in a cool place (30 °C/86 °For less).
Charge it before using itagain.
Charging the Battery (soldseparately)
z
This is a lithium ion battery pack so there is no need to completely use or discharge itbefore recharging.
It can be charged at anycharge state.
z
It takes approximately 150 minutes to bring afully discharged battery pack toa fullchargestate (basedon standard Canon testing criteria).
•Charge it within a temperature range of 5 to 40°C (41 to 104 °F).
•Thecharging time varies accordingtothe ambient temperatureandcharge state.
•Thecharge adapter may emit noises while charging.Thisis notamalfunction.
•Do notcharge the battery packfor morethan 24 continuous hours to avoid performance loss.
z
You are advised to charge the battery on the day ofuse, or oneday before, to ensure a full charge.
Even charged battery packscontinue to discharge naturally.
z
Storinga fully charged battery pack for long periodsof time (about 1 year) can shorten its lifecycle oraffect performance.
You are recommended to dischargethe battery pack fullyintheprinter beforestoring it.
z
Ifyou do not usethe battery packfor long periods of time, chargeit fully and dischargeit fully in the printer atleast once a year before returningit to storage.
z
If the usable timeof a battery pack diminishes substantially even when fully charged,
it shouldbe replaced.
