Description
Description
A precision instrument used for accurately measuring the wet fi lm thickness of paint, ink, adhesives or other wet fi lm on a static or moving surface, in the lab, in the fi eld or on the production line.
Model S: The gage is precision machined from a single piece of stainless steel for structural integrity and corrosion resistance. It consists of a smaller, eccentric inner wheel supported by two concentric outer wheels so as to provide two scales that are bilaterally symmetrical. A scale in mils (thousandths of an inch) or microns is etched into the outside surface corresponding with the range of the gage. The range is determined by the minimum and maximum clearances between the reference plane, defi ned by the diameter of the two outside wheels, and the diameter of the eccentric. As the gage is rolled over the sample, the clearance between the inner wheel and the plane defi ned by the outer wheels varies. The point at which the inner wheel fi rst contacts the wet fi lm is the thickness of the coating.
Model R: This version is quality made exactly as above with the addition of a rotating scale which includes a pointerm bent around the wheel of the gage, to facilitate locating the end of the coating pickup point on the eccentric in reference to the scale reading. This scale/pointer is designed to eliminate parallax and therefore increase the accuracy and precision of the reading.
