Power Supply Check
Calibration
1. Switch on the instrument using the power switch on the rear panel.
The instrument performs a self-diagnostic and the status is displayed.
After appr. ... seconds, the instrument is ready for operation and the last
selected measuring mode appears in the display.
2. Operation
• Lower sample support table using the hand lever or the foot switch.
• Insert sample and release hand lever or foot switch respectively
• The measurement is started automatically when the sample table is raised
or manually by pressing the operate key.
• The readings are displayed with indication of the selected geometry/
measuring mode, e.g. single measurement/60°:

3. Select the appropriate geometry (blue keys)
20° high gloss
60° semi gloss
85° low gloss
20/60° dual angle geometry for transition region
60/85°
auto-range automatic change of geometry
haze 20° high gloss & reflection haze
4. Measurement Series / Statistic
sample/statistic Changing from sample mode to measurement series
with statistical evaluation:
n = number of measurements
m= mean value
s = standard deviation
results Complete statistic plus additional
min = minimum value
max = maximum value
v = coefficient of variance
delete Function for deleting
• the last stored reading
• the complete statistic series

5. Set Up (grey keys)
The set up key calls a menu of consolidated functions which are seldom
changed or seldom used.
Sequence:
Set-Up Selecting the function by moving the cursor
Operate Changing the function or jump to a sub-menu
Sample Escape/Return
Functions:
• Haze Compensation (on/off)
Optional subtraction of sample brightness from the haze value
(reading is marked by n.c.).
• Calibration
Jump into the menu-driven calibration mode.
• Automatic Measurement(on/off)
Automatic starting of measurements.
• Target (on/off)
Illuminated Target facilitates sample positioning.
• Lower (4 cm/7cm)
Motorized sample support table (foot switch) can be lowered by 4 or 7 cm.
• Decimal Point
Optional suppression of the readings' decimal point.
• Language (US, D, F, I, E)
Changing the language to English, German, French, Italian and Spanish is
possible.
•Mirror Mode (on/off)
Changing the mode to mirror reflection measurement (metal surfaces).
•Change Calibration Value
Jump into the input menu to input gloss values of customized mirror gloss
standards.
•Custom Specific Calibration (on/off)
Changing from mirror gloss measurements calibrated at the manufacturer to
mirror gloss measurements calibrated at the customer. (Only if defined).
