Motive Mobile Device Manager
DATAS HE ET | RE LE AS E 3. 1
As the complexity of mobile devices continues to rise, the ability to deliver a simple,
seamless customer experience is emerging as a key competitive factor for mobile
operators. To maximize operational efficiencies, operators need a comprehensive Mobile
Device Management approach capable of supporting a wide variety of mobile devices
throughout all stages of the device management lifecycle.
KEY BENEFITS
• Reduce cost with right-firsttime device and service
provisioning
• Simplify device configuration,
management and troubleshooting
• Avoid support costs by
performing large-scale device
management operations
• Increase ARPU with targeted
promotion of mobile services
• Support devices that run on
both 3G and 4G networks
Overview
Motive Mobile Device Manager (MDM) brings
intelligence to device management with advanced
features that allow mobile operators to remotely
provision, configure, update, manage and trouble-
shoot a wide variety of devices. Using Motive,
operators can improve the subscriber experience,
drive new revenue generating services and reduce
customer care costs with enhanced self-service and
assisted service capabilities.
Mobile operators looking to simplify device provi-
sioning and service usability while gaining greater
control and reducing costs, can leverage MDMs
automatic activation capabilities. Utilizing the
industy’s largest library of supported mobile devices,
Motive provides immediate interoperability with the
increasing number of devices on operator roadmaps.
In addition, Motive enables operators to access a
comprehensive and trusted source of device capabili-
ties, specifications and images. These capabilities
help eliminate factory provisioning costs and ensure
subscribers have up-to-date service configurations
right out-of-the-box. Operators have greater control
™
and improved management of devices and subscriber
satisfaction.
In addition, Motive helps operators improve usability of
new device features and services that drive revenue.
Pre-packaged integrations with Motive Automatic
Device Detection Manager (ADD), enables policy-
based configuration of devices based upon subscriber,
device and purchased services. The result is “service-
oriented” provisioning. This capability personalizes the
activation experience by subscriber, not just device.
By removing the complexity associated with config-
uring new features and services, operators can quickly
introduce and deploy new service offerings, confident
of application activation success rates. As a result,
consumers find services easier to use and respond
with increased usage and loyalty.
When it comes to diagnosing and resolving customer
problems quickly, Motive MDM provides one-to-one
diagnostic capabilities to retrieve useful information
about the status of the device. This means operators
no longer have to depend on consumers to describe
the symptoms of the problem at hand and customers
DEVICE MANAGEMENT
do not have to perform complex and time consuming
troubleshooting tasks. In addition, MDM delivers the ability
to intelligently display problem root cause and provides the
ability for help desk representatives to take corrective action
and resolve problems quickly.
Over the entire device lifecycle, operators are required to
configure settings, manage applications and policies and
update firmware. Using the MDM device operations console,
operations personnel can perform one-to-many management
by enabling large scale actions such as over-the-air (FOTA)
firmware upgrades to provide remote updates for device
capabilities and configuration updates to targeted popula-
tions. In addition, policy scheduling capabilities enable device
management actions to be taken during predefined mainte-
nance windows.
Key Features
• Industry’s largest library of OMA-CP and OMA-DM device
management capabilities enables immediate interoper-
ability with the growing number of devices on operator
roadmaps
• Industry’s most comprehensive and trusted source of
device profiles that detail an extensive range of attributes,
capabilities and images of wireless devices enabling
operators to simplify the problem resolution process by
equipping the help desk with instant access to device
characteristics. This library is updated daily and is available
on-demand. Device capabilities are validated independent
of OEM documentation.
• The targeted promotion of new services to end users.
Campaign management includes the ability to target
offers to a specific population of devices and prov-
sion services via traditional SMS-based messages. By
combining campaign delivery and service provisioning
within a single transaction, the service achieves greater
conversion and response rates when compared to tradi-
tional marketing tools.
• Automatic device detection, identification and configura-
tion allows the activation and setup of mobile devices
without requiring subscriber interaction. Auto device
detection and registration functionality monitors network
systems and automatically bootstraps and snapshots the
settings of a device into the device repository
• The MDM device operations console enables mobile opera-
tors to perform one-to-one diagnostic capabilities to retrieve
useful information about the status of the device configura-
tion and push updated configurations and repairs.
• One-to-many management capabilities enable operations
personnel to perform large scale actions such as firmware
upgrades and configuration updates to targeted populations.
• Firmware-over-the-air (FOTA) management provides the
capability to remotely upgrade the firmware of targeted
populations.
• Policy scheduling capabilities allow device management
actions to be taken during predefined maintenance windows.
