Configuring the TCP/IP Protocol
The following information describes how to configure the
TCP/IP protocol when installing the cable modem on a
computer with the Windows
operating systems. To configure the TCP/IP protocol for
other operating systems, see the included “Getting Started
Guide.”
Configuring the TCP/IP Protocol for the Windows Me
Operating System
1 Right-click the My Network Places icon on the Windows
desktop.
2 Click Properties.

3 A list of installed network components appears. Look for
an entry named TCP/IP.

If a similar entry is present, you can now connect the cable
modem. Go to “Connecting the Cable Modem” for the
instructions. However, if a similar entry is not present,
complete the following steps.
1 Click Add.
2 Select Protocol in the Select Network Component Type
dialog box. The Select Network Protocol dialog box
appears.
3 Select TCP/IP from the Network Protocols list.
4 Click OK.

2000 Operating System
1 Right-click the My Network Places icon on the Windows
desktop.
2 Right-click on Local Area Connection and click Properties.
3 A list of installed network components appears. Look for
an entry named TCP/IP.
