2.1 Preparation for Measurement
CAUTION
● The jaw se ction is a delicate, precision sensor. Do not subject the jaw to
unreasonably st rong sh ock, vibratio n, or forc e when usi ng it.
● If dust gets into the tops of the jaws, r emove it immed iately. Do not c lose t he
jaws whe n dust is trapped in its joint s as the sen sor may bre ak.
● Please c heck that the Funct ion Sel ector sw itch is se t to the des ired pos ition
2.2 AC Current Measurement
WARNING
Never use the instrument on a circuit above 600V AC. This may cause
elect rical s hock ha zard and damage to t he instr ument or the circ uit unde r test.
Keep your f inger s and hand s behind t he barr ier during measu rement .
(1) Set the Functio n Selec tor switch to the "
(2) Press the o pen/close lever to open the tran sformer jaws and clamp them
onto a s ingle conductor and take the readin g on th e disp lay. The most
accur ate r eading will be obtai ned by kee ping the cond uctor at the center of
the transform er jaws.
NOTE
● During current measurement, keep the trans forme r jaws fully closed.
Other wise, accurate measurement s cannot be ta ken. Maximum conductor
size is 30 mm in diameter.
● When measuri ng larg er cur rent, t he transform er jaws may buz z. Thi s in not a
fault and does not af fect t he accu racy eit her.
2.3 AC Voltage Measurements
WARNING
Never use the instrument on a circuit above 600V AC. This may cause
elect rical s hock ha zard and damage to t he instr ument or the circ uit unde r test.
Keep your f inger s and hand s behind t he barr ier during measu rement .
(1) Set the Functio n Selec tor switch to the "
(2) Plug the red test lead into Hi te rminal and the black test lead into th e Lo
terminal.
(3) Connec t the t ip of t he r ed and black test lead s to the cir cuit under test and
take the reading on t he displ ay.
2.4 Resistance Measurement and Continuity Check
WARNING
Never use t he instr ument on a n energi zed circ uit.
(1) Set the Functio n Selec tor switch to the "
(2) Plug the red test lead into Hi te rminal and the black test lead into th e Lo
termin al. Chec k that "1" (over in dication) is indic ated on the LCD display.
(3) Short t he tip of th e test lea ds and che ck whether the display reads "0".
(4) Connect the tip of the test lead s to the c ircuit unde r tes t. If the resis tance is
30.0Ω o r less, the buzze r beeps.
NOTE
When shortin g the tip of the
test leads, the display may
read a very small resistance
instead of "0 ". This is the
resistance of the test leads on
the disp lay.
3. Other Functions
3.1 Data Hold Function
This is a fu nctio n us ed to fr eeze the measur ed va lue on t he d isplay. Press the
Data Hold button to freeze the reading. The reading will be held regardless of
subsequent variation in input. " " is shown on the upper right corner of the
