Thank you for purchasing the VTech® Paint & Learn Art Easel™ learning toy.
The VTech® Paint & Learn Art Easel™ is designed to stimulate your baby’s vivid imagination. Pages of learning fun and colorful pictures teach letters, numbers, animals and shapes. Entertaining songs, upbeat melodies and amusing phrases complete this canvas of creativity!

WARNING: All packing materials, such as tape, plastic sheets, wire ties and tags are not part of this toy, and should be discarded for your child’s safety.
GETTING STARTED
BATTERY INSTALLATION
1. Make sure the unit is turned OFF.
2. Locate the battery cover on the bottom of the unit. Use a coin or a screwdriver to loosen the screw.
3. Install 2 new ‘AA’ (UM-3/LR6) batteries following the diagram inside the battery box. (The use of new alkaline batteries is recommended for maximum performance.)
4. Replace the battery cover and tighten the screw to secure the battery cover.
BATTERY NOTICE
Install batteries correctly observing the polarity (+, -) signs to avoid leakage.
Do not mix old and new batteries.
Do not mix batteries of different types: alkaline, standard (carbon­zinc) or rechargeable (nickel-cadmium).
Remove the batteries from the equipment when the unit will not be used for an extended period of time.
Always remove exhausted batteries from the equipment.
Do not dispose of batteries in fire.
Do not attempt to recharge ordinary batteries.
The supply terminals are not to be short-circuited.
Only batteries of the same and equivalent type as recommended are to be used.
WE DO NOT RECOMMEND THE USE OF RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES.
With the VTech® Paint & Learn Art Easel™, safety comes first. To ensure your child’s safety, please only assemble this product by an adult. Please ensure that the adjustable legs are securely locked into position to avoid injury.
ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
Attach the adjustable legs at the preferred height. Place the leg over the tab or tabs on the easel, then push the leg onto the easel until you hear a click. Repeat for the other leg. To release the lock, push the white buttons at the top of each leg.

to the OFF position.

AUTOMATIC SHUT-OFF:
To preserve battery life, the
VTech
®
Paint & Learn Art Easel™ will automatically power-down after approximately 45 seconds without input. The unit can be turned on again by pressing any button or spinning the palette.
ACTIVITIES
Slide the ON/OFF/MODE SELECTOR SWITCH to the Learning Mode or Music Mode position to turn the unit on. You will hear funny sound effects, amusing phrases and entertaining songs. The lights will flash with the sounds.
LEARNING MODE To enter the Learning Mode, slide the
ON/OFF/MODE SELECTOR SWITCH to
the Learning Mode position.
1. When there is no page on the easel, press the balloons with either the pen or your hand to learn colors.

2. Place the Numbers card on the easel and press the shapes by hand to learn numbers and objects. Use the pen to hear amusing nursery rhyme songs about numbers.
3. Place the Letters card on the easel and press the insects with your hand to learn letters and first words. Use the pen to hear fun nursery rhyme songs about letters.
4. Spin the palette on the left-hand side of the easel to hear cheerful phrases, songs and melodies.
5. Press the piano keys to learn colors and listen to short instrumental tunes while learning corresponding instruments.
MUSIC MODE To enter the Music Mode, slide the ON/
OFF/MODE SELECTOR SWITCH to the Music Mode position.

Activities
1. When there is no page on the easel, press the balloons by hand to hear melodies.
2. Press the pictures by hand on any of the learning cards to hear cheerful melodies or to jam funny sound effects on top of the melodies.
3. Spin the palette to hear an amusing voice as well as Rock & Roll, Jazz, Classical and Hip Hop short tunes. Spin the palette again to accelerate the tempo of the melody being played.
4. Press the piano keys to play notes Do, Re, Mi, Fa, and So. When there is no card on the easel, press the piano keys to hear a melody played one note at a time. Place the Letters or Numbers card on the easel and press the piano keys to change the instruments playing the melody.
5. Use the pen to hear melodies played section by section. The pen can also be used to touch the pictures on the learning cards and jam funny sound effects over the melodies.

CARE & MAINTENANCE
1. Keep the unit and learning cards clean by wiping with a slightly damp cloth.
2. Keep the unit out of direct sunlight and away from any direct heat source.
3. Remove the batteries when the unit will not be in use for an extended period of time.
4. Do not drop the unit on hard surfaces and do not expose the unit to moisture or water.
TROUBLESHOOTING
If for some reason the program/activity stops working, please follow these steps:
1. Please turn the unit
OFF.
2. Interrupt the power supply by removing the batteries.
3. Let the unit stand for a few minutes, then replace the batteries.
4. Turn the unit
ON. The unit should now be ready to play again.
5. If the product still does not work, replace with an entire set of new batteries.
