Introduction
The i 5881 is an advanced cordless telephone that operates in the 5.8GHz
frequency range. Your i 5881 is capable of supporting up to a maximum of 6
Handsets. Using additional Handsets, up to three people can be conferenced on a
call (2 Handsets and the Base Speakerphone), or two extensions can be conferenced
on a call, while two other extensions can be talking internally, using the Intercom
feature.
This manual is designed to familiarize you with the i 5881 cordless telephone. We
strongly recommend you read the manual before using your phone.

The original Handset that is shipped with your i 5881 system will be
automatically registered to the Base. This Handset is HANDSET 1.
As you register additional Handsets to the system, they will be assigned extension
numbers in the following order: HANDSET 2, HANDSET 3, etc.

Charging of the Handset Battery Pack
The Handset of your i 5881 cordless telephone is powered by a rechargeable battery
pack. It charges automatically whenever the Handset is in its charger.
Maximum talk time on a full charge is 8 hours, and maximum standby time is 5 days.
You should charge the battery pack for 12 hours when you first receive your
phone. You’ll know the battery pack needs charging when:
• The low battery message is displayed :
• The Handset seems completely dead,
the LCD is completely clear and does
not activate when you press the keys.

Setup
IMPORTANT:
1.Do not dispose of a battery pack in a fire, the cell may explode.
2.Do not open or mutilate the battery pack. Toxic substances may be released,
causing harm to eyes or skin.
3.Exercise care in handling battery packs in order to prevent an accidental
short of the charge contacts, potentially causing the battery pack to overheat.
4.Do not dispose of this battery pack into household garbage. Please refer to
the information concerning proper battery recycling.
Connecting to phone line
Plug one end of the telephone line cord into the jack
on the bottom of the Base Unit. Plug the other end of
this cord into the wall jack.
Checking for dial tone
After the battery is charged press ON on the Handset.
The Phone icon will appear on the Handset
display, and you will hear dial tone. If not, see In
Case of Difficulty.
T one/Pulse selection
Your i 5881 is preset for tone dialing.See BASE SETTINGS for details.

1. Choose a central location for your Base Unit.
2. Install your Base Unit and Extension Hand
sets away from electronic equipment, such
as personal computers, television sets

3. In locations where there are multiple cordless
telephones, separate base units as much
as possible.
4. Install your telephone equipment away from
heat sources and sunlight.
5. Avoid excessive moisture, dust or extreme
cold.

Spare Battery Charger/Power Backup Feature
The i 5881 uses the spare battery charger in the Base Unit to provide operational
backup in the event of a power failure. With a fully charged battery pack in the spare
battery charger, you will still be able to place and receive calls from the Handsetonly, for up to 2 1/2 hours.
The spare battery pack can also be used to replace a drained Handset battery, ensuring

uninterrupted use. The spare battery pack is optional and purchased separately.
NOTE :
When using the i 5881 during Power Backup mode, audio quality may be
compromised due to reduced power availability.

Wall Mounting
The Wall Mount brackets are designed for use on standard wall mount plates only.
Wall mounting is optional.
1.Plug the AC adapters into an electrical outlet, and the DC connector to the
bottom of the Base Unit.
2.Connect the telephone line cord to the jack on the bottom of the Base Unit,
and the other end to the wall jack.
3.Line up the tabs on the wall mount adapters with the holes on the bottom of
the Base Unit/back of the Handset Charger. Snap the wall mount bracket
firmly in place.
4.Mount the Base Unit/Handset Charger on the wall. Position the Base
Unit/Handset Charger so the mounting studs will fit into the holes on the wall
mount bracket. Slide Base Unit/Handset Charger down on the mounting
studs until it locks into place.

Registration and Operation
Your i 5881 Handset comes registered to the
Base Unit. To register additional VT 5820
Handsets, follow these steps:

5.Enter the 15-digit Base ID Code into the Handset; then press OK.
NOTE: The 15-digit BASE ID Code may contain numbers and characters,
including 0 through 9,
6.Wait approximately 15 to 60 seconds. You will hear confirmation beeps
from the Base and Handset. The newly registered Handset will now assign
itself the lowest Handset number not previously assigned to a different
system Handset (1 through 6).
7.If the Handset displays REJECTED BY
BASE or continues to display
SEARCHING FOR BASE for well
beyond 60 seconds, try the registration
process again by repeating the above
steps.

To set the time on your i 5881:

down to SET TIME, then press OK.

time. A single-digit hour must have a
zero before it (03:56, for example)
• If you make a mistake, use
backspace.
•Use the AM/PM key to select the correct
designation.
• Press SAVE to confirm the setting.
NOTE: You can also wait for incoming Caller ID to set the clock, rather than setting
it manually. To set up the answering system clock, please refer to
ANSWERING SYSTEM OPERTATION on page 36 in this manual.

Clock Mode (preset to ON)
When your i 5881 is idle (OFF), the LCD
displays the time of day, with both a digital and
analog (clock face) readout.
If you do not want the time displayed, follow
these steps:
• At the Handset, press MENU, scroll
down to CLOCK MODE, then press

• Press OFF (or ON), then press OK.
You can activate and deactivate Clock Mode
as often as you wish.

Calls Log (Caller ID)
Caller ID - Call W aiting ID
Your i 5881 is capable of displaying the name and/or number of the party calling
before you answer the phone (Caller ID). It is also capable of displaying Caller ID
information in conjunction with a Call Waiting aler t signal (Call Waiting Caller ID).
With Call Waiting Caller ID, the Caller ID data is displayed so you can decide
whether to answer the incoming call, or continue with your current conversation.
Basic Operations
NOTES ABOUT CALLER ID & CALL WAITING CALLER ID
These are subscription services, provided by most regional telephone service
providers. You must subscribe to these services to get the benefits of these
features. If you do not subscribe to Caller ID services, you can still use your
i 5881 and the other features it offers.
Due to regional incompatibilities, Caller ID information may not be available for
every call you receive. In addition, the calling party may intentionally block their
name and phone number from being sent.

Calls Log (Caller ID)
Reviewing Caller ID from the Handset or
Base
As new Caller ID/Call Waiting ID records are
received, your Handset and Base displays will
alert you to the new Caller ID records, for example:
The number of new calls displayed on each
system Handset and Base may not be the
same. If, for example, you answer a call on
Handset 2, that Handset will not count the
Caller ID information for that call as new.
However, the other registered Handset and
Base displays will consider it a new call, and
add it to the NEW CALLS total.
Basic Operations
After you review all new Caller ID records, the
NEW CALLS status will be turned off.
From the idle (OFF) mode, press MENU, CALLSLOG is highlighted, then press OK. The Caller
ID information of the most recently received call
will be displayed. For example:
To scroll to other records, use the scroll

Dialing from Caller ID
To dial the number displayed, you can simply
press the ON or SPEAKERPHONE key.
You can also press the CID key to access the
following options ( DEL, OPT#, SAVE):

OPT# : Select this option to display up to four
possible dialing strings of the number
stored in Caller ID memory. If a number
is provided in the Caller ID data, the
possible options to choose from will
be either 7, 8, 10, or 11 digits. For
example, if the original number in
Caller ID memory was 808-880-8808,
then the display options will be:

Use the
selection, and then press DIAL, ON or
SPEAKERPHONE to dial the number.
Dialing Tip: With a Caller ID record displayed,
press # repeatedly to cycle through the
four dialing strings. When the correct
dialing option is displayed, press ON
(or SPEAKERPHONE) to dial.
SAVE: Select this option to save the displayed Caller ID record into Speed Dial
Memory. Only Caller ID records with telephone numbers can be saved into
Speed Dial Memory. If you need to modify the number after saving, see TOEDIT A NUMBER.

deleting the single CID record (press THIS) or
all stored CID records (press ALL).

If you press ALL, the screen will ask ARE Y OU

CID records. Or, press NO to return to the CID
record previously displayed.
NOTE: You do not have to delete Caller ID records. Your i 5881 always saves
the 50 most current CID records. As new records come in, the oldest records
are automatically deleted to make room.

From the HANDSET SETTINGS menu you
can select the following options to modify:
• RINGER VOLUME
Select this option to adjust the ringer volume.
Use the
volume up or down. You will see a graph
on the Handset display indicating the relative
volume setting. At the lowest setting (graph
is completely clear), the Handset will not
ring when a call comes in.
Press OK to confirm your setting.
• RINGER MELODY
Select this option to adjust the ringer melody
or tone. Use the scroll keys to select

• VIBRATE CONTROL (preset to OFF)
Select this option to allow the Handset to
vibrate, alerting you to an incoming call.

features. Adjusting one does not affect the
other.

Handset will emit a beep whenever a key is

• CONTRAST
Select this option to adjust the contrast level
of the Handset display. Use the scroll
keys to make your selection. The Handset
display will automatically adjust as you
make your selection. Press OK to confirm
your selection and return to the HANDSETSETTINGS menu.
• LANGUAGE (preset to English)
Select this option to change the display from
English to Spanish or French. Use the
scroll keys to select language, then press
OK to confirm your choice.

Register
REMINDER: The Handset that comes with your i 5881 Base is already
registered to it. Use this procedure to add additional Handsets (model VT 5820)
to your system.
Use this option to register a Handset to the i 5881 Base. You can register a total of
six Handsets to the Base. This process is activated automatically whenever a new
Handset is powered up in range of the i 5881 Base.
You will be prompted to enter the 15-digit Base ID code. After entering this code,
press OK. The Handset will display SEARCHING FOR BASE, and then FOUNDBASE when the process is complete. See Registration and Operation, page 12, for
details.
NOTE: Base ID codes are 15 digits long and can include the following characters:

To access Base Settings, with the Base in the idle (OFF) mode, press MENU, scroll

• Press OK to confirm your selection.

If you want to change your dialing mode,
follow these steps:

MEM (Memory)
The i 5881 can store up to 50 names/numbers in memory. Each memory location
can hold up to 32 digits and up to 16 characters for the name.
When prompted to ENTER NAME, use the digit keys to ‘spell’ the name. Each press

How to Adjust the Handset Volume
The volume control is on the right edge of
the Handset. During a call, press the or
key to adjust the listening volume to a
comfortable level. The procedure is the
same for the Handset earpiece, Headset
and Speakerphone.
Base Speakerphone V olume
During an active call simply press the
Volume or keys to adjust the
speakerphone volume.
NOTE: To adjust the playback volume of
the Answering System, see Adjust Playback
Volume on page 39.
Sound Select
During a call, you can adjust the quality of
the sound to best suit your hearing. Pressing
SOUND SELECT repeatedly will cycle you
through four different frequency responses:

Mute Function
During an active call pressing either the MUTE
soft key on the Handset or the MUTE softkey on
the Base (when in Speakerphone mode), will
disable the microphone. Press MUTE again to
return to normal 2-way conversation.
Hold Function
From the Handset :
• Press the HOLD soft key to place a call on
hold. To return to the call, press the ON (or
SPEAKERPHONE) key.
From the Base :
• During an active call, press the HOLD softkey
to place a call on hold. The SPEAKERPHONELED will flash to indicate a call is on hold.
•To return to the call, press SPEAKERPHONE.
Note: Both the Handset and Base will display CALL
ON HOLD when a call is placed on hold. However,
Advanced Operations
with Clock Mode enabled, the CALL ON HOLD alert
will be displayed on the Handset for only 5 seconds.
If a call remains on Hold for 5 minutes, your i 5881
will ring to remind you the call is being held. The
phone will display CALL ON HOLD RING BACK!
You have 30 seconds to return to the call before it is
dropped.
Flash Function
You can use your i 5881 with services such as
Call Waiting. Simply press the ON key on the
Handset or the FLASH key on the Base (when
in speakerphone mode) to flash the line.

Intercom
From Base to ALL Handsets :
•To page all Handsets from the Base
press the INTERCOM key. Scroll toGLOBAL PAGE, then press OK.

Handsfree Speakerphone Operation
Your i 5881 Handset has a built-in handsfree speakerphone. This feature allows you to
stand the Handset upright on a table or desktop and have handsfree conversations. For
more information, refer to MAKING CALLS in HANDSET AND BASE OPERATION.
Base Speakerphone Operation
The Base of your i 5881 is equipped with a full duplex speakerphone. This is a very useful
feature for handsfree conversations or conference calls at the Base Unit. For more
information, refer to MAKING CALLS in HANDSET AND BASE OPERATION.

When the telephone line is currently being

Low Battery Indication
When a low battery is detected, the Battery
icon will flash and a warning beep is played.
The status message LOW B A TTERY will also
be displayed when the Handset is in idle mode.
To prevent an unexpected call drop, a drained
Handset battery should be replaced by a fully
charged spare battery.

Conference Calling
The i 5881 is capable of supporting conference calls with up to two registered
Handsets, and the Base Unit.
To enter a conference call, simply access the line with two or more extensions by pressing
ON (or SPEAKERPHONE) on the Handset or SPEAKERPHONE on the Base.

Blind T ransfer
You can directly transfer any active call to another i 5881 extension

•The ringing Handset or Base can pick up the transferred call just like any
incoming call.

•Press INTERCOM or XFER soft-key. Scroll to the desired destination, then

Announced Transfer:
You can perform an announced transfer (call and advise another extension)
of an active call by doing the following steps:

Audible Indicators
This system gives you voice prompts for feature operations and voice confirmations
when you press a button or complete an operation.
Turn Answering System On/Off
When you supply power to the Base Unit, the
answering system is automatically turned ON.
Press ON/OFF to manually turn the system off
or on. A voice prompt will confirm your
selection. When the answering system is ON,
the light inside the button will glow steadily.
The system will operate using the default settings
and pre-recorded announcements set at the
factory, until you program the unit.
4-Wa y Multi-Function Selector
Use this selector for Answering System feature setup.
Press the selector Up to RECORD (announcements and memos).
Press the selector Down to CHANGE the current setting.
Press the selector to the Right to access the
feature MENU.
Press the selector to the Left for TIME/SET
(adjust the Day/Time and Confirm settings).
Set the Clock
1 Make sure the answering system is on.
2 Press TIME/SET . The system announces
the clock setting, then announces “To
set Date and Time, press TIME/SET .”

About Mailboxes
This answering system has three voice mailboxes. Callers using a touch tone
phone can select the mailbox in which their messages will be recorded by pressing
1 , 2 , or 3 . All other messages will be recorded in Mailbox 1.
About Announcements
•You can record up to two different announcements — one for normal answering

and one for when you’ve set the system to play the announcement only.
•Use normal answering mode (Annouce Only OFF) when you want the system
to record callers’ messages. Use Announce Only mode (set to ON) when you
want to give information to callers without accepting messages.
•If you choose not to record an announcement, the system answers with a prerecorded announcement.
•The normal answering pre-recorded announcement says: “Hello. I’m unable
to answer your call right now. Please leave your name, number and a message
after the tone.” The Announce Only pre-recorded announcement
says: “Hello, I’m unable to answer your call right now. Please call again. Thank you.”

•By setting Announce Only to on or off, you decide which announcement your
callers will hear when the system answers a call (the system comes set for
normal answering, with Announce Only turned OFF). See “Set Announce
Only” on page 38 to change your announcement selection.
Record Your Announcement

to different people, be sure to tell callers in
your announcement to press 1 , 2 , or 3 to
leave a message in the appropriate mailbox.
1 Press MENU until you hear “Set Outgoing

announcement up to 90 seconds long.

If the caller does not select a Mailbox, their

Operation

Set the remote access code you will use
to access features and functions of the
answering system from a touch tone
phone. The code can be changed to any
two-digit number from 40–99.
When Message Alert is turned ON, the base
beeps once every 10 seconds when new
messages have been received.
When you turn Announce Only ON, callers
hear your announcement, but cannot leave
a message.
When you turn Call Screening OFF, you will
not hear incoming messages as the caller
leaves them.
Choose how many times the phone will ring
before the system answers a call. With Toll
Saver active, the system answers after two
rings when you have new messages and
after four rings when you have no new
messages.

Listen to, Save & Delete Messages
The system automatically saves your messages until you delete them, and can
store approximately 25 minutes of messages, memos, and announcements (up
to a maximum of 99 messages). A message or memo can be up to 4 minutes
in length.
Before playing a message, the system announces the day and time it was received.
While the message plays, the message window displays the number of the
message. After playing the last message in a mailbox, the system announces “End
of messages.” If the system has less than five minutes of recording time left, it
announces the remaining time.
Play Messages
Press the desired MAILBOX key to play
messages. Press again to stop playback. A
Mailbox key will flash if that mailbox contains
any unplayed messages. It will glow steadily if it
contains only previously heard messages. Press
/SKIP to skip to the next message; press and
hold /SKIP to speed up playback. Press /REPEAT to repeat a message; press and hold
/REPEAT to slow down playback.
NOTE: If a Mailbox contains a combination of
new and old messages, you will only hear
unplayed messages; then, the system will return
to idle mode. Press the MAILBOX key again to
hear all old messages.
Delete Messages
• Press DELETE to delete the message that’s
playing.
• To delete all messages in a mailbox, press
DELETE , then the appropriate MAILBOX
button.
• You cannot delete a message until it’s
been reviewed; deleted messages cannot
be recovered.

Headset Operation
Your i 5881 cordless telephone is equipped with a 2.5mm Headset Jack for use
with an optional accessory Headset for hands-free operation. If you choose to use
the Headset option, you must obtain an optional accessory Headset, which is
compatible with the i 5881.
To purchase a Headset, call VTech Customer Service at 1-800-595-9511.
Once you have a compatible 2.5mm Headset, locate the Headset Jack on the
i 5881 Handset. Connect the plug on the Headset cord to the jack on the cordless
Handset. The plug should fit securely. Do not force the connection.
NOTE :
Whenever a compatible Headset is
connected to the cordless Handset,
the microphone on the Handset will
be muted. This is done to limit the effect
of background noise.
Belt Clip
The i 5881 is also equipped with a
detachable belt clip. Align the pins on
the inside edge of the clip with the
notches on the sides of the i 5881
Handset. The belt clip should snap
securely into place. Do not force the
connection.

T aking Care Of Y our Telephone
Your i 5881 cordless telephone contains sophisticated electronic parts, so it must
be treated with care.
Av oid rough treatment
Place the Handset down gently. Save the original packing materials to protect your
telephone if you ever need to ship it.
Av oid water
Your telephone can be damaged if it gets wet. Do not use the Handset outdoors in
the rain, or handle it with wet hands. Do not install your Base Unit near a sink,
bathtub or shower.
Electrical storms
Electrical storms can sometimes cause power surges harmful to electronic equipment.
For your own safety, use caution when using electric appliances during storms.
Cleaning your telephone
Your telephone has a durable plastic casing that should retain its luster for many
years. Clean it only with a soft cloth slightly dampened with water or a mild soap. Do
not use excess water or cleaning solvents of any kind.
Remember that electrical appliances can cause serious injury if used when
you are wet or standing in water. If your Base Unit should fall into water, DO
NOT RETRIEVE IT UNTIL YOU UNPLUG THE POWER CORD AND TELEPHONE
LINE CORDS FROM THE W ALL . Then pull the unit out b y the unplugged cords.

In Case Of Difficulty
If you have difficulty operating your phone, the suggestions below should solve the
problem. If you still have difficulty after trying these suggestions, call VTech
Communications at 1-800-595-9511. In Canada, call VTech Telecommunications
Canada Ltd. at 1-800-267-7377.
The Phone Doesnít W ork At All
• Make sure the Power Cord is plugged in.
• Make sure the telephone line cord is plugged firmly into the Base Unit and the
telephone wall jack.
• Make sure the batteries are properly charged. If the ‘LOW BATTERY’ message
is shown, the battery pack needs charging.
No Dial T one
• First check all the suggestions above.
• If you still don’t hear a dial tone, disconnect the Base Unit from the telephone
jack and connect a different phone. If there is no dial tone on that phone either,
the problem is in your wiring or local service. Contact your local telephone
company.
You Get Noise, Static, Or A Weak Signal Even When Youíre Near The
Base Unit
• Household appliances plugged into the same circuit as the Base Unit can
sometimes cause interference. Try moving the appliance or the Base Unit to
another outlet.
You Get Noise, Static, Or A Weak Signal When Youíre Away From The
Base Unit
• You may be out of range. Either move closer to the Base, or relocate the Base
Unit.
• The layout of your home may be limiting the range. Try moving the Base Unit
to another position.
The Handset Does Not Ring When Y ou Receive A Call
• Make sure you have the ringers activated. To set the ringer, see HANDSET
SETTINGS and BASE SETTINGS.
• Make sure the telephone line cord is plugged firmly into the Base Unit and the
telephone jack. Make sure the power cord is plugged in.
• You may be too far from the Base Unit.
• You may have too many extension phones on your telephone line to allow all
of them to ring. Try unplugging some of the other phones.

•Disconnect your Base Unit from the telephone jack, and plug in a regular telephone.
If you still hear other calls, the problem is probably in your wiring or local service.
Call your local telephone company.

What does this limited warranty cover?
•The manufacturer of this VTech product, VTech Communications, warrants to
the holder of a valid proof of purchase (“Consumer” or “you”) that the product
and all accessories provided by VTech in the sales package (“Product”) are
free from material defects in material and workmanship, pursuant to the following
terms and conditions, when installed and used normally and in accordance
with operation instructions, This limited warranty extends only to the Consumer
for Products purchased and used in the United States of America.
What will VTech Comm unications do if the Pr oduct is not free fr om
material defects in materials and workmanship during the limited
warranty period (ìMaterially Defective Productî)?
•During the limited warranty period, VTech’s authorized service representative
will repair or replace at VTech’s option, without charge, a Materially Defective
Product. If we repair this product, we may use new or refurbished replacement
parts. If we choose to replace this product, we may replace it with a new or
refurbished product of the same or similar design. VTech will return repaired or
replacement products to you in working condition. VTech will retain defective
parts, modules, or equipment. Repair or replacement of Product, at
VTech’ s option, is your exclusive remedy. You should expect the repair or
replacement to take approximately 30 days.
How long is the limited warranty period?
• The limited warranty period for the product extends for ONE(1) YEAR from the
date of purchase if we repair or replace a Materially Defective Product under
the terms of this limited warranty. This limited warranty also applies to repaired
or replacement Products for a period of either (a) 90 days from the date the
repaired or replacement Product is shipped to you or (b) the time remaining
on the original one-year warranty; whichever is longer.
What is not covered by this limited warranty?
This limited warranty does not cover
1.Product that has been subjected to misuse, accident, shipping or other physical
damage, improper installation, abnormal operation or handling, neglect,
inundation, fire, water or other liquid intrusion; or
2.Product that has been damaged due to repair, alteration or modification by
anyone other than an authorized service representative of VTech; or
3. Product to the extent that the problem experienced is caused by signal
conditions, network reliability or cable or antenna systems; or
4.Product to the extent that the problem is caused by use with non-VTech
electrical accessories; or
5. Product whose warranty/quality stickers, Product serial numbers plates or
electronic serial numbers have been removed, altered or rendered illegible; or
6.Product purchased, used, serviced, or shipped for repair from outside the
United States, or used for commercial or institutional purposes (including but
not limited to Products used for rental purposes); or
7.Product returned without valid proof of purchase (see 2 below); or

8. Charges for installation or set up, adjustment of customer controls, and
installation or repair of systems outside the unit.
How do you get warranty service?
• To obtain warranty service in the United States of America, call 1 800-595- 9511
for instructions regarding where to return the Product. Before calling for service,
please check the user’s manual. A check of the Product controls and features
may save you a service call.
•Except as provided by applicable law, you assume the risk of loss or damage
during transit and transportation and are responsible for delivery or handling
charges incurred in the transport of Product(s) to the service location. VTech
will return repaired or replaced product under this limited warranty to you,
transportation, delivery or handling charges prepaid. VTech assumes no
risk for damage or loss of the Product in transit.
•If the Product failure is not covered by this limited warranty, or proof of purchase
does not meet the terms of this limited warranty, VTech will notify you and will
request that you authorize the cost of repair and return shipping costs for the
repair of Products that are not covered by this limited warranty.
What must you return with the Product to get warranty service?
1.Return the entire original package and contents including the Product to the
VTech service location along with a description of the malfunction or difficulty;
2.Include “valid proof of purchase” (sales receipt) identifying the Product purchased
(Product model) and the date of purchase or receipt; and
3.Provide your name, complete and correct mailing address, and telephone
number.
Other Limitations
• This warranty is the complete and exclusive agreement between you and VTech.
It supersedes all other written or oral communications related to this Product.
VTech provides no other warranties for this product. The warranty exclusively
describes all of VTech’s responsibilities regarding the product.
There are no other express warranties. No one is authorized to make modifications
to this limited warranty and you should not rely on any such modification.
State Law Rights: This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also
have other rights which vary from state to state.
Limitations: Implied warranties, including those of fitness for a particular purpose and
merchantability (an unwritten warranty that the product is fit for ordinary use) are
limited to one year from date of purchase. Some states do not allow limitations on how
long an implied warranty lasts, so the above limitation may not apply to you.
• In no event shall VTech b e liable for any indirect, special, incidental, consequential,
or similar damages(including, but not limited to lost profits or revenue, inability
to use the product, or other associated equipment, the cost of substitute equipment,
and claims by third parties) resulting from the use of this product, some states do
not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so
the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you.

The plug and jack used to connect this equipment to the premises wiring and

modular plug is provided with this product. It is designed to be connected
to a compatible modular jack that is also compliant. An RJ11 jack should
normally be used for connecting to a single line and an RJ14 jack for two
lines. See Installation Instructions in the user’s manual. This equipment
may not be used with Coin Telephone Lines or with Party Lines. If you
have specially wired alarm dialing equipment connected to your telephone
line, ensure the connection of this equipment does not disable your alarm
equipment. If you have questions about what will disable alarm equipment,
consult your telephone company or a qualified installer.
3. Repair instructions
If this equipment is malfunctioning, it must be unplugged from the modular
jack until the problem has been corrected. Repairs to this telephone equipment
can only be made by the manufacturer or its authorized agents. For
repair procedures, follow the instructions outlined under the Limited

4. Rights of the telephone company
If this equipment is causing harm to the telephone network, the telephone
company may temporarily discontinue your telephone service. The telephone

memory dialing feature doesn’t work.

recommended. However, if you do make a call to an emergency number:
• You must remain on the line and briefly explain the reason for the call

The term “IC:” before the radio certification number only signifies that Industry Canada
technical specifications were met.
