Installing the Batteries
1 Push the PUSH biithm <iit ^nd siklo tipcn the baticn'
2 Install two CR2032 lithium batteries (supplied) with the positive
(+) side facing out.
3 Close the lid of the bat partment.

If the batteries do not come out, push the side of the battery with a
sharp ob^.
Replacing the battery
"ВАТТ* appeen on the display when the batteries become «s*eak and it flashes when Ihe batteries are exhausted. Replace the batteries tvith new ones. When repladng, be sure to telce out both old batteries first, and then
insert the new ones.

>■ Basic Operations

Recording Messages

You can record up to 99 messages. You can record up to 10 minutes
including Special Message and messages in the Shuffle Message Box. Since a newly recorded message is automatically added behind the last recorded message, you can start recording quiddy without searching for the end of the last recording. Each recorded message has an index number, and a пем>1у recorded
message will have the last index number.

When you have rea>rdcd up lo 99 messages or the maximum recording time, “FULL" appears in the display- If you want to record more messages, first erase some old messages- (Refer to "Erasing

To listen to the current recording
Press REC to stop recording and then press the jog lever.
To review the current recording instantly
Press the jog lever during recording.
Remaining memory Indication
As the capacity of the remaining memory decreases, the segments of
the indication will go off one by one.
When you record for about two minutes, one segment will go off.
When the remaining memory goes down to about 30 seconds, the indication will flash, and when the memory is fulL all segments go off.

During playback, press and hold the jog lever lor more than one second. “REP“ will be displayed and the selected message will be played back repeatedly until you stop playback by pressing the jo lever.

Move the jog lever to display the desired message number. (To change the number rapidly, keep holding the lever.)

Playing all the messages continuously (Continuous Play)
During stop mode, press and hold the jog lev'er for more than one second. Playback starts from the message on the display and continues playing until the end of the last message. You do not ha\ to press the jog lever for each message. (EHiring normal mode only, not available during Shuffle mode)
When the last message has been played back, the unit stops at the beginning of the last message.
To stop playback Press the jog lever. When you press the jog lever next |in\e, normal playback starts fron the point you stopped.
Erasing Messages
You can erase the recorded messages one by one or all messages (excluding Special Message and Shuffle Message Box) at a time. Note that (mce a recording has been erased, you cannot retrieve it. To erase the Special Message and the messages for the Shuffle Measage Box, refer to the corresponding sectioos.

Erasing messages one by one
When a message is erased, the remaining messages will advance and
renumbered so that there will be no space between messages.

1 Press ERASE while playing back the mcs.sage you wani io erase,
or press and hold ERASE for more than one seamd during stop nv^e.
A beep will sound and the message number and '’ERS" will appear one after the other while the first 5 seconds of the message is played back 10 times.

2 Press ERASE while dw message is being played back.
The message is erased and the remaining messages wilt be renumbered.
To cancel erasing
Press any button except ERASE before step 2.
To erase other messages
Repeat steps 1 and 2.
Erasing all messages
1 Press ERASE during playback or press and hold ERASE for
more than one second during stop mode. A beep will sound and the message number and "ERS" will appear one after the other while the first 5 seconds of the message is played back 10 times.
2 Move the jog lever downward once while the message is being
played back. "ALL" and "ERS" will appear one after the other.
3 Press ERASE while “ALL" and "ERS" arc displayed.
All messages are erased.
To cancel «rasing
Press any button except ERASE before step 3.
Notes
• If you do fwXprai ERASE for more than 10 seconds after step 2. the erase mode will be cancefied.
« If you move the |og lever upward, the unit returns to sl^ I of "Easing
messages one by one". To erase all message, anove the iog lever downward
again to display "ALL" and "ERS".

1 Press SPECIAL.
"REC" appears and "S" flashes.
2 Speak into the built-in microphone.
You do not need to keep pressing SPECIAL while ceccHding.
3 Press SPECIAL again to stop recording
Note
If a mcttage is ab«sdy recorded in the Special Mearage Box. "PLAY" appears and that message will be pla\*ed back when you press SPECIAL To rcc^ a new message, erase the old one first as described in "Erasing the Special Message" (on the back side).
Playing back the message
1 Press SPECIAL.
"PLAY" appears and "S" flashes.

2 Adjust the volume with the VOL control.
To stop playing back partway through the Special Mes
sage
Press SPECIAL. When you press SPECIAL again, the message will be played back
from the beginning.
Playing back the Special Message repeatedly
Press and hold SPECIAL until "REP" appears (more than one second) during playback of the Special Message.

Erasing the Special Message
1 Tivss ERASE while playing back the special Message.
A beep will sound, “ERS" and “S" will flash, and the first 5 seconds of the message is played back 10 times.
2 Press ERASE while the message is being played back.

Press any button except ERASE before step 2.
Playing back a message
1 Press the |og kn-er.
"CJ" turns in the display window and the messages are selected at random. When “CJ" stops, the .selected message
number is displayed and the message will be pUyed back.

Using the Shuffle Message Box
When you record messages in dw Shu^ Message Box, those messages will be played back at random so that you can enjoy games. You can record up to 20 messages in the Shuffle Message Box.

Entering Shuffle mode
Press BEEP/SHUFFLE on the rear for more than one seomd.
During Shuffle mode, you cannot record or play back normal messages. (You can still use the Special Message Box.)
Recording a message
1 Press REC.
"REC" appears.
2 Speak into the built-in microphorie.
You do not need to keep pressing REC while recording.
3 Press REC again to stop recording.

During playback, press and hold the jog lever for more than one second. "REP" appears in the display window and the message will be played back repeatedly. To stop playback, press the jog lever.
Erasing the messages in the Shuffle Message Box
You can erase the recorded messages in the Shuffle Message Box one
by one or all messages at a time. When you erase the messages one by one. the remaining messages numbers will be renumber^.

Exiting from the Shuffle mode

You can cut off the beep sound during operation. Press BEEP/SHUFFLE briefly. (Note that you will not hear a
coniirmatiotr beep here.)

Precautions

On power
• Operate the unit only on 3 V DC. Use two lithium batteries.
On safety
• Do not operate the unit while driving, cycling or operation any motorized vehicle.
On handling
• Do not leave the unit in a location near heat sources, or in a place subject to direct sunlight, excessive dust or mechanical shock.
• Should any solid object or liquid fall into the unit, remove the
batteries and have the unit checked by qualified personnel before operating it any further.
On noise
• Noise may be heard when the unit is placed near an AC power source, a fluorescent lamp or a mobile phone during recording or playback.
On maintenance
• To clean the exterior, use a soft cloth slightly moistened in water. Do not use alciSiol, behzine or thinner.
Keep personal credit cards using magnetic coding or spring-wound watches, etc., away form the uiutlo prevent possible damage form
the magnet used in the speaker.

Troubleshooting

The unit does not operate.
■f The batteries have been installed with incorrect polarity.
•* The batteries are weak.
■f The buttons are locked with the HOLD switch. (When any button is pressed, "Hold" appears in the display.)
No sound comes from the speaker.
■f The voliune is turned down completely.
"FULL* appears even before the unit has reached the
maximum recording time and you cannot record.
When you have recorded 99 messages (or 20 messages for Shuffle Message Box) in total "FULL" appears regardless of the total recorded time. To continue recoiding, erase unnecessary messages.
