Preparing AIBO for Party Mascot

Check that the pause button on AIBO’s
chest is pressed in.
The button should be depressed about 1 mm from
the surface.

Grasp AIBO securely by the body and
open the rear cover.
Slide the unlock button to open the cover.
Notes
• Pick up AIBO by the body, not by its extremities.
• Do not touch the charging terminal on the underside of AIBO directly with your hand.
Doing so may soil the terminal and cause poor contact.

Place it on a flat, non-slippery surface, such as a

so that AIBO can hear the sound controller.

Be sure to place AIBO on the floor as illustrated. This will prevent AIBO from moving
unexpectedly and being damaged when you press and release the pause button.

When the software has been loaded, AIBO will

Depending on the environment where it is used, AIBO may not be able to
recognize color or the controller’s sound. Before starting a game, always check to
see if AIBO’s sensors function correctly in the given environment (light/sound
tests). You can also practice the correct way of pressing the touch sensor (touch
test). Use the controller or pad sensors to execute a test.
z To do a test with the controller, go directly to each testing procedure

To protect the saved data on the “Memory Stick,” observe the following:
• The supplied “Memory Stick” is an accessory of Party Mascot ERA-102M.
Using it also to save data from personal computers or camcorders, or for
anything other than AIBO, may cause damage to AIBO.
• Do not touch terminal A with your hand or metal objects.
• If the safety switch B is set to LOCK, data cannot be saved nor erased. Do not
set the safety switch to LOCK when using the “Memory Stick” with AIBO
ERS-110/111.
• The saved data may be erased or broken:
– When removing the “Memory Stick” or the battery pack from AIBO during
data-loading/saving.
– When using the “Memory Stick” in a place subject to static electricity or
electric noise.
• Do not stick anything other than a dedicated

If you experience any of the following difficulties, use this troubleshooting guide
