1. Intended use
The pocket radio is designed to receive FM/AM radio transmissions and for listening to radio programmes. The radio is not intended for use in commercial or industrial areas. No warranty claims will be granted for damage resulting from improper use!

4. Safety Instructions
• This device is not intended for use by persons (including children) with restricted physical, sensorial or mental abilities or those who have a lack of experience and/or knowledge unless, of course, for their own safety they are supervised by a responsible person or they receive instructions from that person on how to use the device.
• Children should be supervised in order to make sure that they do not play with the device.
To avoid life-threatening electric shocks:
• Devices that do not function properly or that are damaged should be returned to customer service for repair or exchange as soon as possible.
• Only use the device in dry rooms.
• NEVER submerse the device in water. Wipe it only with a slightly damp cloth.

• Make sure that liquids and/or objects are never able to enter into the device.
• Do not place water-filled receptacles (e.g. flower vases) on the device.
• You may not open the casing or repair the device yourself. Should you do so, the safety of the device may be compromised and the warranty becomes void. Repairs are to be carried out exclusively in a specialist firm or in a service centre.
Risk of explosion!
Do not throw batteries into a fire. Do not recharge the batteries.
To avoid the risks of fire or injury:
• Do not place candles or other open fire sources on the device.
• Do not use the device in the vicinity of hot surfaces.
• Do not keep the device in places that are exposed to direct sunlight. If you do, it may overheat and become irreparably damaged.
• Place the device in a location with adequate ventilation to prevent heat build up.
• Never cover the ventilation openings!
• Avoid any additional heat build up, e.g. direct sunlight, heaters, other devices, etc.
• Keep children away from the connecting cable and the device. Children frequently underestimate the danger from electrical appliances.
• Make sure to find a safe place for the device.
• Do not operate the device if it has sustained a fall or is damaged. Arrange for the device to be checked and/or repaired by qualified technicians.
• Keep batteries away from children. Children can put batteries into their mouths and swallow them. Should a battery be swallowed, IMMEDIATELY seek professional medical assistance.

6. Activation
Preparing for use
• Remove the radio and accessories from the packaging.
• Remove all transport restraints and adhesive tape/films.
Important!
Do not permit small children to play with plastic packaging. There is a risk of suffocation!
Inserting the batteries
For operation you need two 1,5 V batteries type Mignon AA/LR6 (not supplied).
1.Open the battery compartment
2.Place the batteries into the battery compartment
that you observe the correct polarity according to the illustration.
3.Carefully close the battery compartment lid until it clicks into place.
Interaction with batteries
Leaking batteries can cause damage to the device.
• If you do not intend to use the device for an extended period, remove the batteries.
• Always change all batteries at the same time and always use batteries of the same type.
• Should the batteries leak, wear protective gloves and clean the battery compartment with a dry cloth.
• Do not expose the batteries to excessive heat such as sunlight, fire or similar.

Connecting Headphones
You can connect stereo heaphones to the pocket radio with a 3.5 mm jack plug. The headphones socket is located on the left side of the radio. When you have connected the headphones, the loudspeaker is dis­connected and you will only hear sound through the headphones.

Warning:
Listening to music with headphones for long periods and at high volume levels can lead to hearing damage!
• Use only the supplied headphones of Type KH223E. When using headphones, the built-in loudspeakers are switched off.
7. Operation
Switching On and Off
To switch the radio on turn the On/Off switch with volume control
upwards until you feel that a slight resistance has been overcome.

downwards until you feel a slight resistance has been overcome.

Note:
In order to switch the device off completely the batteries have to be removed from the device.

Adjusting the frequency
By using the frequency setting wheel oyou can set the desired frequency to the AM (kHz) and/or FM (MHz) scale
Adjust the pocket radio for optimal reception.
When a transmission with full signal strength is received the TUNING
indicator lights up.

Notice:
To improve the reception of radio stations in the FM frequency range turn the radio and the telescopic antenna directions. When you have found a good reception position for the set radio station leave the radio and telescopic antenna in this position. For the reception of AM transmissions, an antenna is built into the device. For improved reception, alter the position of the de­vice in radio mode.

8. Cleaning and maintenance
Important!
Make sure that no liquids get into the device.
• Only clean the device with a lightly moistened cloth.
• Do not use detergents or solvents. They can damage the plastic surfaces.
9. Disposal
Disposing of the appliance
Do not dispose of the appliance in your normal domestic waste. This product is subject to the European directive 2002/96/EC. Dispose of the device through an approved disposal centre or at your community waste facility. Observe the currently applica­ble regulations. In case of doubt, please contact your waste disposal centre.
Disposing of batteries!
Do not dispose of the batteries with household waste. Every consumer is legally obliged to dispose of batteries at a collection site of his com­munity/city district or at a retail store. The purpose of this obligation is to ensure that batteries are disposed of in a non-polluting manner. Only dispose of batteries when they are fully discharged.

Dispose of the packaging materials in an environmentally
responsible manner.
