
Removing the fan
General
Applies to 9, 11 and 12 litre engines with PDE or HPI and cylinder block generation
1.
Work description
Start by tilting the cab. Then remove parts as below:
1. Charge air pipe between the turbocharger and the charge air cooler, and remove
the ribbed charge air pipe on the cold side.
2. The poly-V-belts.
3. Belt tensioner.
4. Idler wheel.

5. AC pipe attachments to the engine.

6. The AC compressor.
7. Upper coolant pipes.
8. Fan ring.

Removing the fan
Beam for front lifting eye
9. Beam that the front lifting eye is attached to. Fold it forwards so that the gap be-
tween engine and cooling package is as small as possible.
10. Electrical cable to the fan if it is electrically controlled.
11. Fan bearing screws.
Finally lift out the fan and fan ring straight up as far as possible. Ease out the fan from
the fan cover by moving it forwards at an angle and upwards and to the left.
