1General Information and Warnings
1.1About this Manual
This manual is divided into chapters by the chapter number and the large text at the top
of a page. Subsections are labeled as shown by the 1 and 1.1 headings shown above.
The names of the chapter and the next subsection level appear at the top of alternating
pages of the manual to remind you of where you are in the manual. The manual name
and page numbers appear at the bottom of the pages.
1.1.1Special Messages
Examples of special messages you will see in this manual are defined below. The
signal words have specific meanings to alert you to additional information or the relative
level of hazard.
DANGER!
THIS IS A DANGER SYMBOL.
DANGER MEANS THAT FAILURE TO FOLLOW SPECIFIC PRACTICES
OR PROCEDURES WILL CAUSE INJURY OR DEATH.
CAUTION!
This is a Caution symbol.
Cautions give information about procedures that, if not observed, could result
in damage to equipment or corruption to and loss of data.
1.2Package and Accesories
l PS25 Postal Scale
l Four AAA Batteries
l USB Cable
1.3Warnings
l Caution! Do not overload the scale with a weight significantly greater than
the maximum capacity list in this booklet. Normally a load over 150% of the
maximum capacity is likely to damage the scale.
l Do not keep weight on the platform continuously. Remove weight from the
platform when finished with a weight measurement.
l Batteries enclosed (if any) must not be recharged or reactivated by any
means. Do not disassemble, dismantle, thrown into a fire or short-circuited
batteries.
l This product is for Professional use only.

1.4Low Battery Warning, Battery Disposal and Replacement
1.4.1Low Battery Warning
The PS25 is able to sense if the batteries installed have enough voltage to provide an
accurate measurement. When the battery voltage drops to or below 3.8, Lo will flash
on the display
Figure 1.1 Low Battery Indication
Replace the batteries immediately as low battery condition is likely to degrade the
weight measurement and giving a poor accuracy.
DANGER!
BE SURE TO DISPOSE OF BATTERIES IN A SPECIALLY LABELED
RECYCLING CONTAINER OR TOXIC WASTE COLLECTION SITE.
CAUTION!
When the scale is not expected to be operated for several months, remove the
batteries from the compartment. Failure to do so may cause battery leakage
which will contaminate the contact causing the device to loose function.
1.5Maintenance
l Place the scale on a firm level table/desk. A firm and level surface is
preferable for correct measurement.
l The scale should be cleaned occasionally with a slightly damp cloth. Do not
use abrasive detergents and never immerse the scale in water.
l Protect the scale against hard knocks, moisture, dust and chemicals. Keep
away from heat sources such as cooking appliances and heating radiators.
l Repairs may only be performed by Brecknell customer service or authorized
dealers. When the device ceases to function, please first check the batteries
and replace if necessary.
l When the scale gives an unsteady readout, please check alongside the
weighing platform to ensure that no foreign object is stuck between the
platform and main housing.
l The scale complies with CE in Europe; and FCC in USA
