PROCEDURE
Updating via CD-ROM
Required items
• Update CD-ROM (#17041430)
1. Insert the update disc into the VS-2000CD’s CD-RW drive, and turn on
the power. A message like the following will appear. (X.XXX is the
version number.)

2. Press the [ENTER/YES] button, and a message like the following will
appear.

3. Normally you should press the [ENTER/YES] button.
Updating will begin.
Never turn off the power during this process.
Doing so will damage the system program, rendering the VS-2000CD unable to
function.
4. To return the VS-2000CD to the factory settings, press the [EXIT/NO]
button at this point, and then press the [ENTER/YES] button in response
to the confirmation message that follows.
5. When the update has been completed, a display of “Please Reboot OK”
will appear; turn off the power.
6. To complete the update procedure, follow the steps described in
“Checking the version number” to verify that the update was performed
successfully.
Updating via USB
Required items
• UPDATE DATA CD-ROM (#17041430)
• A computer with a USB connector that is able to work with the VS2000CD
Use the following procedure to install the system program into the VS-2000CD.
You will need a computer with a USB connection in order to perform the
installation.
In some cases, the data on the internal hard disk may disappear when the
update is performed.
Please back up the user data before performing the update.
Never install with “Partition Size: 500MB, 1GB, or 2GB” (i.e., other than 10GB).
The VS-2000CD system will be damaged and the unit will become inoperable.
If this occurs, you must replace the MAIN BOARD ASSY.
Never turn off the power of the VS-2000CD during installation.
The VS-2000CD system will be damaged and the unit will become inoperable.
If this occurs, you must replace the MAIN BOARD ASSY.
Procedure
1. While holding down the [USB2.0] button, turn on the power of the VS-
2000CD.
The [USB2.0] “LED” will blink.
2. Use a USB cable to connect the VS-2000CD to your computer.
3. When the VS-2000CD drive appears on your computer, copy the system
program to the root directory of the lowest-numbered drive (= the VS2000CD’s IDE:0).
4. Cancel the connection to your computer.
• Windows
Use “Safely Remove Hardware” (shown in the taskbar) to cancel the
connection to the VS-2000CD.
• Macintosh
Drag the VS-2000CD icon from the desktop into the trash to cancel the
connection to the VS-2000CD.
5. On Windows, wait for the “Safely Remove Hardware” popup to appear
on your computer, and then disconnect the USB cable from the VS2000CD.
On Macintosh, disconnect the USB cable from the VS-2000CD after you
have finished dragging the icon into the trash.
6. Press the [ENTER/YES] button.
The update will begin.
7. When the update is completed, the version information screen will
appear.
Note the system version number in this screen.
8. Turn off the power of the VS-2000CD.
