Introduction
Congratulations on your purchase of the Rocktron
Pulse Tremolo.
The Pulse Tremolo pedal provides a very economical way to get
that expensive classic tube tremolo sound in a small box. Typical
modern tremolo devices are created electrically using VCAs. The
Pulse creates an amazing tremolo with modulated light and static
light. Yes, you read that correct, we use light to create the tremolo
effect! Using light for creating signal modulation via a photoresistor, an LED lights up and the photo-resistor changes the
output volume on the Pulse in relationship to the light intensity.
An LFO (low frequency oscillator) pulses the LED at a given rate
and a given wave form, the light travels to the photo-resistor
causing it to change resistance value, which in turn changes the
gain output of the internal amplifier (op amp). The result is a
smooth non-symmetrical tremolo which closely approximates
classic tube tremolo properties. A SPEED control varies the rate
of the tremolo, while an INTENSITY control determines the
amount of the effect. A switch is provided that lets you choose
triangle or square LFO pulse modulation waveforms.
The easy access battery compartment will make changing batteries
during a gig a breeze. We have also equipped it with a super
bright blue LED so you will know when the pedal is on...it is also
just plain cool!
Enjoy

Controls
Controls
Speed Control - Adjusts the speed at which the tremolo signal modulates (or
1
increases or decreases in volume). Turning this control clockwise increases
the speed. Turning it counter-clockwise decreases the speed.
Active LED - When lit the pedal is “active” or “on”
2
Intensity Control - Adjusts the amount of modulation for the tremolo signal.
3
Turning it clockwise increases the depth of tremolo. Turning it counterclockwise decreases the depth of tremolo. Lower Intensity settings will
produce more subtle tremolo effects, while higher settings will result in a more
extreme tremolo effect.
DC 9V Input - To use external power (not provided) use only a 9-Volt DC
4
adapter
Waveform Select Switch - This switch determines the “waveshape” of the
5
tremolo signal. Selecting a different waveform produces a different tremolo
effect.
6
Input - Using a standard guitar cable with a 1/4” jack, plug your guitar into
this jack.
7
Output Jack - Using a standard guitar cable with a 1/4” jack, connect to your
next effect or directly into your amplifier.
8
On/Off Switch - This switch determines whether the pedal is “on” or “off” When ON the blue LED will be lit. When OFF the LED will not be lit.
9
9-Volt Battery Compartment - to access pull on small tab labeled “OPEN”.
Replace with a new 9-Volt battery. Always remember to unplug your guitar
cords from the pedal to conserve battery life. Some battery drain may take
place when unit is plugged in (even if the unit is bypassed).

Hints and Tips:
Tremolo pedals usually sound better when placed after distortion
in the signal chain. However, the Pulse Tremolo can be used either
before or after the distortion. When you put the Pulse before the
distortion you will get a very cool tremolo effect where at first you
will not hear the tremolo effect until the chord or note starts to
decay or sustain...at this point you will start to hear the effect.
When the Pulse is placed after the distortion, when active, you will
hear the tremolo effect without volume ducking artifacts.
If using multiple pedals such as delays and other modulation
effects, try the Pulse Tremolo in different parts of the signal chain
until you find the sound you like best.
If you have an effects loop in your amplifier - try putting the Pulse
in the effects loop for a different sound (please follow all instructions in your amplifier manual when connecting to your effects
loop).
