The monitor is compact and easy-to-use at home, at work, and during
travel. Perfect for people who frequently monitor their own blood
pressure.

Your new digital blood pressure monitors use the oscillometric
method of blood pressure measurement. This means the monitor
detects your blood’s movement through your brachial artery and
converts the movements into a digital reading. An oscillometric
monitor does not need a stethoscope so the monitor is simple to use.

Clinical research has proven a direct relationship between blood
pressure in the wrist and blood pressure in the arm. Changes in
wrist blood pressure reflect changes in arm blood pressure
because the arteries in the wrist and the arm are close to each
other. Frequently measuring the blood pressure in your wrist will
provide your physician with an accurate indication of changes in
your blood pressure.

Use only 1.5V “AAA” alkaline batteries with this device. Do not
use any other type of battery. This may damage the unit.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE

Do not subject the monitor to strong shocks, such as dropping
the unit on the floor.

Do not submerge the device or any of the components in water.
Store the device and the components in a clean, safe location.
Changes or modification not approved by the manufacturer will

void the user warranty. Do not disassemble or attempt to repair
the unit or components.

BEFORE TAKING A MEASUREMENT

To ensure a reliable reading follow these recommendations:

1. Avoid eating, drinking alcohol, smoking, exercising, and bathing
for 30 minutes before taking a measurement. Rest for at least 15
minutes before taking the measurement.

2. Stress raises blood pressure. Avoid taking measurements during
stressful times.

3. The cuff can be applied to your left or right wrist.

4. Measurements should be taken in a quiet place.

5. Position the unit at heart level throughout the measurement.

6. Remain still and do not talk during the measurement.

7. Wait 2-3 minutes between measurements. The wait time allows
the arteries to return to the condition prior to taking the blood
pressure measurement. You may need to increase the wait time
depending on your individual physiological characteristics.

8. Keep a record of your blood pressure and pulse readings for your
physician. A single measurement may not provide an accurate
indication of your true blood pressure. You need to take and
record several readings over a period of time. Try to measure
your blood pressure at the same time each day for consistency.

BEFORE TAKING A MEASUREMENT

The American Heart Association (AHA) recommends the following
guideline for upper limit of normal for home blood pressure
readings:

This is a general guideline because blood pressure depends

on age and morbidity. The AHA recommends a lower home
blood pressure goal for certain patients, including diabetic
patients, pregnant women, and patients with renal failure

The monitor is not intended to be a diagnostic device.

BATTERY INSTALLATION

1. Press both sides of the battery cover and lift
the cover off in the direction of the arrow.

2. Install 2 “AAA” size batteries so the +
(positive) and - (negative) polarities match
the polarities of the battery compartment
as indicated.

3. Replace the Battery Cover.
Make sure the battery cover is securely
in place.

BATTERY REPLACEMENT

Low Battery Indicator

Initial Set-Up

When the Low Battery Indicator appears on the display screen, turn
the monitor off and remove all the batteries. Replace with two new
batteries at the same time. Long-life alkaline batteries are
recommended.

WARNING

If battery fluid should get in your eyes, immediately rinse with
plenty of clean water. Contact a physician immediately.

NOTE: The batteries supplied with the device may have a shorter

life.

according to applicable local regulations. Unlawful disposal may
cause environmental pollution.

APPLYING THE WRIST CUFF

Wrapping the wrist cuff is one of the most important points for
taking a correct measurement.

APPLYING THE CUFF ON THE LEFT WRIST

1. Roll up sleeve. Make sure your sleeve is not
rolled up too tightly on your arm. This may
constrict the flow of blood in your arm.

2. Wrap the cuff directly against your skin.
Do not apply over clothing. Place the cuff over your left wrist with
your left thumb facing upward.

3. Position the cuff leaving a clearance of approximately 1/2 to 1
inch between the cuff and the bottom of your palm.

4. Hold the bottom part of the cuff and wrap it
around the wrist so it fits comfortably and
securely around your wrist.

NOTE: Make sure the wrist cuff does not

cover the protruding part of the wrist
bone on the outside of the wrist.

5. Fold the remaining part of the wrist cuff back out
of the way.

APPLYING THE CUFF ON THE RIGHT WRIST

When taking a measurement using the right wrist
position the cuff as shown in the illustration.

TAKING A MEASUREMENT

1. Sit comfortably in a chair with your feet
flat on the floor.

2. Hold your arm across your chest at heart level.
Hold your elbow firmly to avoid body movement.
Sit still and do not talk or move during
the measurement.

3. Press the ON/OFF START button.
All symbols appear on the display.
The cuff starts to inflate automatically.

As the cuff inflates, the monitor
automatically determines your ideal inflation
level. This monitor detects your blood
pressure and pulse rate during inflation.

The Heartbeat Symbol ( ) flashes at every heartbeat.
Remain still and do not move until the entire measurement process

is completed.
NOTE: To stop the inflation or measurement, push the ON/OFF

START button. The monitor will stop inflating, start
deflating, and will turn off.

4. After the monitor has detected your blood pressure and pulse rate,
the cuff automatically deflates. Your blood pressure and pulse rate
are displayed.

5. Press the ON/OFF START button
to turn the monitor off.

NOTE: The monitor will automatically turn off after two minutes.

Care and Maintenance

CARE AND MAINTENANCE

To keep your digital blood pressure monitor in the best condition
and protect the unit from damage, follow the directions listed below:

Do not forcefully bend the cuff. Do not fold tightly.
Clean the monitor with a soft dry cloth. Do not use any abrasive or

volatile cleaners. Do not attempt to clean the cuff.

Do not submerge the device or any of the components in water.
Do not subject the monitor to extreme hot or cold temperatures,
humidity or direct sunlight.

Store the device and the components in a clean, safe location.

Do not subject the monitor to strong shocks, such as dropping
the unit on the floor.

Remove the batteries if the unit will not be used for three months or
longer. Always replace all the batteries with new ones at the same
time.

Your ReliOn®6021REL Automatic Wrist Blood Pressure Monitor is warranted
to be free from defects in materials and workmanship appearing within one year
from the date of purchase, when used in accordance with the instructions
provided with the monitor. The above warranty extends only to the original
retail purchaser.

We will, at our option, repair or replace without charge any monitor covered
by the above warranty. Repair or replacement is our only responsibility and
your only remedy under the above warranty.

El monitor es compacto y fácil de usar en el hogar, el trabajo y al
viajar. Es ideal para las personas que se controlan con frecuencia la
presión arterial.

Su nuevo monitor de presión arterial utiliza el método oscilométrico
de medisión de la presión arterial. Esto significa que el monitor detecta
el movimiento de la sangre mediante su arteria braquial y convierte los
movimientos en una lectura digital. Un monitor oscilométrico no
necesita estetoscopio, por lo tanto, el monitor es fácil de usar.

ANTES DE TOMAR UNA MEDICIÓN

A fin de garantizar una lectura confiable, siga las recomendaciones
que se enumeran a continuación:

1. Evite comer, tomar bebidas alcohólicas, fumar, hacer ejercicio y

bañarse durante 30 minutos antes de tomar una medición. Descanse
durante al menos 15 minutos antes de tomar la medición.

2. El estrés eleva la presión arterial. Evite tomar mediciones durante

aquellos momentos en los que se sienta estresado.

3. Se puede colocar el brazalete para la muñeca tanto en la muñeca

izquierda como en la derecha.

4. Las mediciones se deben llevar a cabo en un lugar tranquilo.

5. Coloque la unidad al nivel del corazón durante la medición.

6. Quédese quieto y no hable durante la medición.

7. Espere 2-3 minutos entre cada medición. El tiempo de espera

permite que las arterias vuelvan a la condición en que estaban
antes de tomar la medición de la presión arterial. Es posible que
sea necesario aumentar el tiempo de espera según sus
características fisiológicas particulares.

8. Lleve un registro de las lecturas de presión arterial y del pulso

para que las vea su médico. Una sola medición no brinda una
indicación precisa de su verdadera presión arterial. Es necesario
tomarse la presión y registrar varias lecturas durante un período
de tiempo. Trate de medir su presión arterial todos los días a la
misma hora para obtener mediciones coherentes.

COLOCACIÓN DE LAS BATERÍAS

1. Presione ambos lados de la tapa del
compartimiento para baterías y retírela
en el sentido que muestra la flecha.

2. Coloque 2 baterías “AAA” de modo que
las polaridades + (positiva) y - (negativa)
concuerden con las polaridades que se
indican en el compartimiento de
las baterías.

3. Vuelva a colocar la tapa del
compartimiento.
Asegúresde de que la cubierta del
compartimiento de las baterías quede
firmemente cerrada.

CAMBIO DE LAS BATERÍAS

Configuración inicial

Cuando el Indicador de Batería Baja aparezca en la pantalla, apague
el monitor y retire todas las baterías. Cámbielas simultáneamente por
dos baterías nuevas. Se recomienda usar baterías alcalinas de larga
duración.

ADVERTENCIA

En caso de que el fluido de las baterías entre en contacto con
los ojos, enjuague de inmediato con abundante agua limpia.
Consulte inmediatamente a un médico.

NOTA: Las baterías de obsequio que vienen con la unidad pueden

durar menos.

PRECAUCIÓN

Respete las normas locales aplicables al desechar el
dispositivo, los componentes y accesorios opcionales.
Violar las normas establecidas para su eliminación puede
provocar contaminación ambiental.

COLOCACIÓN DEL BRAZALETE PARA LA MUÑECA

Ajustar el brazalete para la muñeca es uno de los puntos más
importantes a tener en cuenta para realizar una medición correcta.

COLOCACIÓN DEL BRAZALETE EN
LA MUÑECA IZQUIERDA

1. Súbase la manga. Asegúrese de que la manga no
esté muy ajustada al brazo. Esto puede reducir el
flujo de sangre en el brazo.

2. Coloque la banda directamente sobre la piel.
No aplique sobre la ropa. Coloque el brazalete sobre la muñeca
izquierda con el pulgar izquierdo hacia arriba.

3. Coloque la banda dejando un espacio de aproximadamente 1/2 a 1
pulgada entre la banda y la parte inferior de la palma de la mano.

4. Sostenga la parte inferior del brazalete y
envuélvala alrededor de la muñeca para que
quede cómoda y ajustada.

NOTA: Asegúrese de que el brazalete para la

muñeca no cubra la parte saliente de
hueso de la muñeca en el lado exterior
de ésta.

5. Doble la parte sobrante del brazalete hacia atrás
para que no le moleste.

COLOCACIÓN DEL BRAZALETE EN
LA MUÑECA DERECHA

Cuando tome una medición en la muñeca derecha,
coloque el brazalete como se muestra en
la ilustración.

CÓMO TOMAR UNA MEDICIÓN

1. Siéntese en una silla con los pies
apoyados en el piso.

2. Mantenga los brazos cruzados en el pecho
al nivel del corazón. Sosténgase el codo
con firmeza para evitar movimientos corporales.
Siéntese quieto y no hable durante la medición.

3. Presione el botón ON/OFF START
(Encendido/Apagado/Inicio)

Todos los símbolos aparecen en la pantalla.

La banda comienza a inflarse
automáticamente. A medida que el brazalete
comienza a inflarse, el monitor determinará
automáticamente el nivel óptimo de inflado. Este monitor detecta
su presión arterial y pulso durante el inflado.

El símbolo de corazón ( ) parpadea ante cada latido del corazón.

Quédese quieto y no se mueva hasta que se complete el proceso
total de medición.

NOTA: Para detener el inflado o la medición, presione el botón

ON/OFF START (Encendido/Apagado/Inicio). El monitor
dejará de inflarse, comenzará a desinflarse y se apagará.

CÓMO TOMAR UNA MEDICIÓN

4. Luego de que el monitor ha detectado la presión arterial y ritmo
cardíaco, el brazalete se desinfla automáticamente. Aparecen la
presión arterial y el pulso.

5. Presione el botón ON/OFF
para apagar el monitor.

NOTA: El monitor se apaga automáticamente después de dos

minutos.

CUIDADO Y MANTENIMIENTO

Siga estas instrucciones a fin de mantener el monitor de presión
arterial digital en buenas condiciones y proteger la unidad de daños:

No doble el brazalete por la fuerza. No doble los elementos de
modo que queden demasiado apretados.

Limpie el monitor con un paño seco y suave. No utilice limpiadores
abrasivos o volátiles. No limpie el brazalete.

PRECAUCIÓN

No sumerja el dispositivo ni ninguno de sus componentes en el
agua. No someta el monitor a temperaturas extremas, altas o
bajas, a la humedad o a la luz directa del sol.

PRECAUCIÓN

Guarde el dispositivo y los componentes en un lugar limpio
y seguro.

PRECAUCIÓN

No someta el monitor a golpes fuertes, como por ejemplo, dejar
caer la unidad al suelo.

Retire las baterías si no piensa utilizar la unidad durante tres meses
o un período de tiempo más prolongado. Cambie siempre todas las
baterías por otras nuevas al mismo tiempo.
