Installing a Snap! Server on Your Network
The Snap! Server Model 4000 is a member of the Quantum Snap! Server family of network
attached storage (NAS) products. This Quick Start Guide describes how to install a Snap! Server
on your network a n d use t he server from y our W i nd ow s 9 5, 98 , N T, or Wind ow s 2 00 0 com put er o r
Macintosh computer.
Before installing your Snap! Server, make sure you have these items:
An AC power source (110-220V)
An active port in a 10Base-T or 100Base-TX Ethernet hub

To install in a standard 19-inch rack,
carefully slide the server into the shelf, and
secure the unit to the rack as show n. Use t he
screws included in your Snap! Server
package.
To use your Snap! Server as a desktop
system, remove the mounting brackets from
the unit. Then peel th e five rubber feet off the
backing sheet and attach them in the
indentations on the bottom of the unit.

Connect the server to a network hub using
the Ethernet cable provided.

Connect the server t o a n A C w a ll out let usi ng
the cord provided.
4.
Press and hold down the power button until
the System LED turns on; then release the
button and wait for the server to start up.
5.
When the System LED starts blinking at a
steady rate (about once a second), startup is
complete.

Congratulations! The Snap! Server is installed on
your network and is operating with its default
factory settings. You can use it as is, or change
settings to fit your networking requirements.
