Introduction
Before using the appliance for the first time
familiarize yourself with all functions of
the appliance and inform yourself about the correct handling of electrical tools. Please read the following operating instructions carefully. Retain these instructions for future reference. Additionally, pass them on to whoever might acquire the appli­ance at a future date.

Intended use
The oscillating sander is suited for dry sanding of wood, plastics and paints. Any other use or modifi­cation is considered improper use and involves sig­nificant accident risks. The manufacturer declines to accept responsibility for damage(s) arising out of usage contrary to the instructions specified below. The appliance is not meant for commercial use.

WARNING!
The vibration level given in these instructions has been measured in accordance with a standardised measurement procedure specified in EN 60745 and can be used to compare devices. Different uses of the device give rise to different vibration levels and in many cases they may exceed the values given in these instructions. It is easy to underestimate the vibration load if the electrical power tool is used regularly in particular circumstances.
Note: If you wish to make an accurate assessment of the vibration loads experienced during a particular period of working, you should also take into account the intervening periods of time when the device is switched off or is running but is not actually in use. This can result in a much lower vibration load over the whole of the period of working.

1. Workplace safety
a) Keep your working area clean and
clutter-free. Untidy or poorly lit working
areas can lead to accidents.
b)
Do not work with the device
in potentially explosive envi­ronments in which there
are inflammable liquids, gases or
dusts. Electrical power tools create sparks,
which can ignite dusts or fumes.
c)
Keep children and other
people
away while you are
operating
the electrical tool.
Distractions can cause you to lose control of
the device.
2. Electrical safety
To avoid danger to life from
electric shock:
a)
The mains plug on the device must match the mains socket. The plug must not be modified in any way. Do not use an adapter plug with devices fitted with a protective earth. Unmodified plugs and
matching sockets reduce the risk of electric shock.
b) Avoid touching earthed surfaces such
as pipes, radiators, ovens and refrig­erators with any part of your body.
There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed.

c) Keep the device away from
rain or moisture. Water entering
an electrical device increases the risk of electric shock. d)
Do not use the mains lead for
any purpose for which it was
not intended, e.g. to carry the device, to hang up the device or to
pull the mains plug out of the mains socket. Keep the mains lead away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts of the device. Damaged or tangled
mains leads increase the risk of electric shock.
e) When working outdoors with an elec-
trical power tool always use extension cables that are also approved for use outdoors. The use of an extension cable suitable
for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock.
f) Use a residual current device (RCD)
for protection if operating the electri­cal power tool in a moist environment is unavoidable. The use of an RCD reduces
the risk of electric shock.
3. Personal safety
a) Remain alert at all times, watch what
you are doing and always proceed with caution. Do not use the device if you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication.
One moment of carelessness when using the device can lead to serious injury.
b)
Wear personal protective
equipment and always wear
safety glasses. The wearing of
personal protective equipment such as dust
masks, non-slip safety shoes, safety helmets or ear protectors, appropriate to the type of elec­trical power tool used and work undertaken, reduces the risk of injury.
c) Avoid unintentional operation of
the device. Check that the electrical power tool is switched off before you connect it to the mains, pick it up or carry it. Accidents can happen if
you carry the device with your finger on the ON / OFF switch or with the device switched on.
d) Remove any setting tools or spanners
before you switch the device on. A tool or spanner left attached to a rotating part of a device can lead to injury.
e) Avoid placing your body in an un-
natural position. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. By doing this you will be in a better position to control the device in unforeseen circumstances.
f) Wear suitable clothing. Do not wear
loose clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves clear of mov­ing parts. Loose clothing, jewellery or long
hair can become trapped in moving parts.
g) If vacuum dust extraction and collec-
tion devices are fitted do not forget to check that they are properly connected and correctly used. The use of these devices
reduces the hazard presented by dust.
4. Careful handling and use of electrical power tools
a) Do not overload the device. Always
use an electrical power tool that is intended for the task you are under­taking. By using the right electrical power
tool for the job you will work more safely and achieve a better result.
b) Do not use an electrical power tool if
its switch is defective. An electrical power tool that can no longer be switched on and off is dangerous and must be repaired.
c) Pull the mains plug out of the socket
before you make any adjustments to t
he device, change accessories or whe
n
the device is put away. This precaution
is intended to prevent you from unintentionally starting the device.
d) When not in use always ensure that
electrical power tools are kept out of reach of children. Do not let anyone use the device if he or she is not fa­miliar with it or has not read the

instructions and advice. Electrical power tools are dangerous when they are used by inexperienced people.
e) Look after the device carefully. Check
that moving parts are working prop­erly and move freely. Check for any parts that are broken or damaged enough to detrimentally affect the functioning of the device. Have dam­aged parts repaired before you use the device. Many accidents have their origins
in poorly maintained electrical power tools.
f) Use the electrical power tool, accesso-
ries, inserted tools etc. in accordance with these instructions and advice, and the stipulations drawn up for this particular type of device. In doing this, take into account the working conditions and the task in hand. The
use of electrical power tools for purposes other than those intended can lead to dangerous situations.
Appliance-specific Safety
Instructions
To avoid the risk of injury or fire as well as health risks:
J When working outdoors, connect the appli-
ance via a residual current circuit-breaker with a maximum breaking current of 30 mA.
J Only use an extension cord certified for use
outdoors.
J Secure the workpiece firmly. Use clamps / vices
to firmly hold the workpiece. It is thus better secured than just with your hand.
J Never support your hands next to or in front of
the device or on the surface being worked as there is a risk of injury in the event of slipping.
J In case of danger, immediately pull the power
plug from the socket.
J Always run the power cord away from the
appliance to the rear.
J
DANGER OF FIRE FROM FLYING SPARKS! Abrading metal creates
flying sparks. For this reason, always
make sure that nobody is placed in any danger
and that there are no inflammable materials near the working area.

NOXIOUS FUMES!
Any harmful / noxious dusts generated from
sanding represent a risk to the health of the person operating the device and to anyone near the work area.

DUST HAZARD!
When sanding
wood and in particular when work
ing
on materials that give rise to dusts that are haz-
ardous to health, the sander must be connected to a suitable external dust extraction device.
Wear protective glasses and a dust
mask!
J Ensure sufficient ventilation when working on
plastics, paints, lacquers, etc.
J Do not soak materials or surfaces to be worked
with liquids containing solvents.
J Avoid sanding of lead-based paints or other
materials that are hazardous to health.
J Material containing asbestos may not be worked
on. Asbestos is considered a carcinogen.
J The appliance is designed for dry surface
sanding of wood, plastic, metal and smoothing compounds as well as painted surfaces.
J Never work on moistened materials or wet
surfaces.
J Always hold the appliance firmly with two
hands while working (see also Fig. D, E).
J Always switch off the appliance and allow
the sanding pad

to come to a stop before
setting down the oscillating sander.
J Always pull the power plug out of the socket
for all work pauses, before any work on the appliance (e.g. changing the sanding paper) and when not in use.
J The appliance must always be kept clean, dry
and free of oil or lubricating greases.
J Always stay alert! Always pay attention to
what you are doing and act with common sense. Never use the appliance when you are distracted or don’t feel well.

FIRE HAZARD!
A risk of fire exists when working with electrical appliances that have a dust
collection box

or can be attached to a vacuum cleaner via an external suction adapter! Under unfavourable conditions, such as flying sparks, grinding of metal or metal remnants in wood, the wood dust in the dust sack (or in the dust bag of a vacuum cleaner) can ignite. This can happen especially if the wood dust has paint particles on it or is mixed with other chemical substances and the sanded material is hot after extensive working. You should therefore avoid overheating of products being sanded as well as the appliance and always empty the dust collection box

or the dust bag
of the vacuum cleaner before work pauses.

j Move the oscillating sander parallel, in flat
circles or alternating between lengthwise and side-to-side motions.
j Do not press down with the oscillating sander.
The sanding pads become clogged, which reduces the sanding performance.
j Clean the sanding pad

j Do not use any sharp objects for cleaning the
appliance. Never permit fluids to permeate inside the appliance.
j Use a cloth to clean the casing. Never use pet-
rol, solvents or cleansers that damage plastics.

A vacuum cleaner is required for thorough cleaning of the appliance.
j Ventilation openings must never be obstructed. j Remove adhering sanding dust with a brush.

The packaging is made from environ-
mentally-friendly material and can be disposed off at your local recycling plant.

appliances in normal household refuse!
According to European Directive 2002 / 96 / EC for used electrical and electronic appliances and its adoption into national laws, worn-out electrical tools must be collected separately and subjected to an environmentally friendly recycling procedure.

This warranty applies only to the initial purchaser and is non-transferable.
The warranty covers only material or manufactur­ing faults, not normal wear or damage to fragile parts such as switches or rechargeable batteries. The appliance is intended solely for private, not commercial, use.

VAROLTUS!
Näissä ohjeissa ilmoitettu värähtelytaso on määritetty normissa EN 60745 standardoidulla mittausmenetelmällä ja sitä voidaan käyttää laitevertailussa. Värähtelytaso muuttuu sähkötyökalun käytön mukaan ja se saattaa monesti ylittää tässä ohjeessa mainitun arvon. Värähtelyrasitusta saatetaan aliarvioida, jos sähkötyökalua säännöllisesti käytetään tällä tavalla.
Huomio: Liikekuormituksen arvioimiseksi tietyn työajan kestäessä on huomioitava myös ajat, jolloin laite on sammutettuna, tai ajat, jolloin laite on käyn­nissä, mutta ei työkäytössä. Tämä saattaa vähentää merkittävästi liikerasitusta kokonaistyöskentelyajan kestäessä.

1. Työpaikkaturvallisuus
a) Pidä työpaikka puhtaana ja siivot-
tuna. Epäjärjestys ja huono valaistus voivat
johtaa tapaturmiin.
b)
Älä käytä laitetta räjähdys-
vaarallisessa ympäristössä, jossa säilytetään helposti
syttyviä nesteitä, kaasuja tai jossa
kehittyy pölyä. Sähkötyökalut kehittävät
kipinöintiä, joka voi sytyttää pölyn tai höyryn.
c)
Lapsien ja asiattomien henki-
löiden läsnäolo työpaikalla laitteen ollessa käynnissä ei
ole sallittua. Voit helposti menettää kontrol-
lin laitteeseen.
2. Sähköturvallisuus
Vältä sähköiskun aiheuttamaa
hengenvaaraa:
a) Laitteen pistokkeen pitää sopia pis-
torasiaan. Pistoketta ei saa muuttaa millään tavalla. Älä käytä adapteria yhdessä suojamaadoitettujen laittei­den kanssa. Alkuperäinen pistoke ja sopivat
pistorasia vähentävät sähköiskuvaaraa.
b) Vältä kosketusta maadoitettuihin pin-
to
ihin, kuten putkiin, lämpöpattereihin,
liesiin sekä jääkaappeihin. Vaarana on
saada sähköisku, jos kehosi on maadoitettu.
c)
Älä pidä laitetta sateessa tai
muussa kosteudessa. Veden pää­sy laitteeseen lisää sähköisku vaaraa.

d) Älä kanna laitetta riiputta-
malla sitä kaapelista ja vedä kaapeli irti pistorasiasta
pitämällä kiinni pistokkeesta. Älä
jätä kaapelia kuumaan paikkaan, älä päästä siihen öljyä, varo teräviä reunoja sekä laitteen pyöriviä osia.
Vialliset tai kietoutuneet kaapelit lisäävät riskiä saada sähköisku.
e) Jos työskentelet ulkotiloissa, käytä
silloin jatkokaapelia, jonka käyttö on sallittu myös ulkotilaan. Ulkotilaan so-
veltuva kaapeli vähentää riskiä saada sähköisku.
f) Jos sähkötyökalua joudutaan käyt-
tämään kosteassa ympäristössä, on käytettävä vikavirtakytkintä. Vikavir-
takytkimen käyttö pienentää sähköiskun vaaraa.
3. Henkilöiden turvallisuus
a) Ole aina tarkkaavainen, tarkista aina,
mitä teet ja toimi järkevästi sähkö­laitteilla työskennellessäsi. Älä käytä laitetta, jos olet väsynyt, käyttänyt huumeita, alkoholia tai lääkkeitä.
Epätarkkaavaisuus laitetta käytettäessä voi aiheuttaa vaikeita loukkaantumisia.
b)
Käytä henkilökohtaisia tur-
vavarusteita ja suojalaseja aina. Henkilökohtaisten turvavarus-
teiden käyttö, kuten pölynaamari, turvakengät,
kypärä tai kuulosuoja, vähentävät loukkaantu­misriskiä.
c) Varo käynnistämästä laitetta vahin-
gossa. Varmista, että sähkötyökalu on kytketty pois päältä, ennen kuin liität sen pistorasiaan, nostat sen tai kannat sitä. Tapaturmat ovat mahdollisia,
jos sormesi on laitetta kantaessasi virtakytkimel­lä tai laite on kytketty päälle.
d) Poista kaikki työkalut ja ruuviavaimet
paikalta ennen kuin kytket laitteen. Pyörivässä laiteosassa oleva työkalu tai avain voi johtaa tapaturmaan.
e) Vältä työskentelemästä epätavalli-
sessa asennossa. Asetu tukevaan asentoon
ja pysyttele koko ajan tasapainossa. Pystyt silloin hallitsemaan laitteen erityisesti yllättävissä tilanteissa.
f) Käytä sopivaa vaatetusta. Älä käytä
löysiä vaatteita äläkä pidä koruja. Hiukset, vaatteet ja käsineet on pidettävä etäällä liikkuvista osista.
Löysät vaatteet, korut ja avonaiset hiukset voivat jäädä kiinni liikkuviin osiin.
g) Jos laitteeseen asennetaan pölynimu-
ri- ja lastunkeruulaite, varmistu sitä ennen, että osat on liitetty ja niitä käytetään oikein. Näiden laitteiden liittä-
minen vähentää pölystä aiheutuvia vaaroja.
4. Sähkötyökalujen huolellinen
käsittely ja käyttö
a) Älä ylirasita laitetta. Käytä työssäsi
tätä työtä varten tarkoitettua sähkö­työkalua. Sopivan sähkötyökalun kanssa
työskentelet paremmin ja varmemmin sen teho­alueella.
b) Älä käytä mitään sähkötyökalua,
jonka käynnistyskytkin on viallinen. Sähkötyökalu, jota ei voi enää kytkeä päälle tai päältä, on vaarallinen ja se on korjattava.
c) Vedä pistoke pistorasiasta, ennen
kuin säädät laitetta, vaihdat lisäosia tai panet laitteen varastoon. Nämä
varotoimenpiteet estävät sen, että laite käynnis­tyy vahingossa.
d) Säilytä sähkötyökaluja silloin, kun
niitä ei käytetä, lasten ulottumatto­missa. Älä anna henkilöiden käyttää laitetta, jos he eivät tunne sitä tai eivät ole lukeneet näitä käyttöohjeita.
Sähkötyökalut ovat vaarallisia, jos kokemattomat henkilöt käyttävät niitä.
e) Hoida laitetta huolellisesti. Tarkasta,
toimivatko sen liikkuvat osat moit­teettomasti ja että ne eivät jumitu; tarkasta, onko joku osa katkennut tai murtunut tai vahingoittunut niin, että se haittaa laitteen toimintaa. Korjauta vialliset osat aina ennen
