Sum-up: Good features and low prices make for competitive models.
These new Panasonic printers are part of Panasonic’s aggressive attempt to build a position in the printer market. They offer low costs and good features.
There are two models in this 19ppm family. The $299 KX-P7305 is the base version, while the $449 KX-P7310 comes Ethernet-ready. Both units come with duplexing standard. That’s

Panasonic models.
Otherwise these models are unremarkable. They have 100MHz processors, with 16MB of memory upgradable to 48MB. Paper supplies start at 250 sheets, which can be increased to 800. Output is based on a simple 150-sheet tray. USB and parallel connectivity are offered standard.
Cost per page is a little over 2 cents per page, about average at this level of the market. PostScript and PCL are standard.
If you compare these printers with the market leaders at 20ppm, the Lexmark E323 and the HewlettPackard LaserJet 1300, they look pretty good. The Lexmark model starts at
$419, has no automatic duplexing, and the cost per page is half a cent higher. The HP LaserJet 1300 does include standard duplexing, but it also has a higher cost per page, by a quarter of a cent.
Panasonic has a small position in the black-and-white laser printer market. But with good buys like these printers, they could emerge as a real
threat in the market, just as the company’s color laser printers are staring to get traction. While the competition is tough, we choose this printer family for our Editor’s Choice Award.
