HOW TO:
USING YOUR OSTER® 4 SLICE WAFFLE MAKER
Preparing Your 4 Slice Wae Maker
1 Remove all packing materials before using. 2 Before use, wash the wae cooking plates with warm soapy water,
and dry completely. Be sure to read the Care and Cleaning section of this manual to learn the correct methods for cleaning the unit.
CAUTION: Do not immerse WAFFLE MAKER in water or other
liquid.
3 Close the wae maker and plug it into the wall outlet. You will
notice that the red power light will turn on. Green ready light will not turn on yet. It will remain o until the desired temperature is reached. It will take approximately 5 to 8 minutes to reach baking temperature. When the green ready light goes on, the wae maker is ready for use.
Baking
1 When the green “Ready” indicator light goes ON, the unit has
reached the correct baking temperature and is ready for use.
2 Pour batter onto bottom grid of wae maker. Ladle just enough
batter to ll each plate in the lower grid so that the peak area of the grid is covered, being careful not to overll. If necessary, use a spatula to spread the batter in to the corners of the grid.
3 Lower the top part without closing the latch. This will allow more
room for the waes to expand.
Note: During cooking, the ready light may cycle ON and OFF as
the unit maintains the correct baking temperature. The cooking time is about 3 to 5 minutes and varies depending on the type of batter being used and desired cooking consistency of wae. The unit may start to emit steam during cooking. Once the unit stops emitting any steam, this may be an indicator that the waes are done.
4 Once cooking is complete, remove the waes with a spatula or
utensil, being careful not to touch the housing as it will be hot.
Note: Avoid the use of metallic or sharp-edged utensils because
they could damage the coating on the plates.

5 If you wish to make more waes, close the lid and wait for the
ready light to turn “ON” before cooking a new batch.
6 After use, unplug the appliance and allow it to cool
Wae Baking Tips
1 At rst, try baking for about 3 minutes then check if it is done to
your liking. You may need to close the top housing and bake longer if it is not to your desired outcome. A shorter baking time produces a lighter colored wae, while waes baked for longer times are darker and crisper. Dierent wae batters will also cook up dierently. Over time, you will nd your perfect baking time for the batter you use.
2 When preparing wae batter, do not over mix or waes will be
tough. Stir batter only until large lumps of dry ingredients disappear.
3 The optimal amount of batter to produce a full-shaped wae,
without overowing, will vary with dierent wae batters. Pouring batter from a measuring cup will help you gauge how much batter to use each time. Fill bottom grid of wae maker with enough batter to cover peak areas of the grid.
4 For more evenly shaped waes, spread thick batters to outer edge
of grid, using a heat proof spatula or other non-metallic utensil before closing lid.
5 Cake-based waes, such as the Chocolate Waes are more tender
than regular waes, and may require more care when removing from wae maker. You may want to break these waes into halves or quarters before removing. Use a spatula to support waes when removing from the wae maker.
6 To retain crispness, move baked waes to a wire cooling rack to
prevent steam from accumulating underneath.
7 When serving several waes at one time, keep waes hot and
crisp by placing on a rack in a preheated 200°F oven until ready to serve.
8 Already cooled waes can be re-warmed and re-crisped,
individually, by returning to hot wae maker. Place wae on grid so grooves match up; close lid and heat for 1 to 2 minutes, watching carefully to prevent burning.
9 Baked waes freeze well. Cool completely on wire rack. Store in
plastic freezer bag or in covered container, separating waes with wax paper. Reheat frozen waes in toaster oven, oven or toaster until hot and crisp.

CARE & CLEANING
Your Oil Infused DuraCeramic™ Wae Maker should be cleaned after every use.
1 Unplug the Wae Maker and allow it to cool before cleaning. NOTE: To protect the Oil Infused DuraCeramic™ coating, do not run
cold water over cooking surface immediately after use.
2 Wipe down the cooking surface with a damp cloth and dry
thoroughly. DO NOT use steel wool or other metal pads as this may scratch the surface.
3 The wae maker is NOT dishwasher safe. You may wash it with hot
soapy water, rinse and dry thoroughly.
For proper care of your Oil Infused DuraCeramic™ coated wae maker, follow the following steps if stubborn stains appear:
1 Sprinkle some baking soda on the stained area. 2 Add enough water to moisten the baking soda, making a paste like
texture. 3 Let sit for a few minutes (for tougher stains let sit up to an hour). 4 Lightly scrub with a plastic scouring pad or damp cloth and dry
thoroughly. 5 Repeat if necessary. ANY SERVICE REQUIRING DISASSEMBLY OTHER THAN THE ABOVE
CLEANING MUST BE PERFORMED BY AN AUTHORIZED OSTER® SERVICE CENTER.
Questions? Please call 800.334.0759 or visit us at www.oster.com. Should any stubborn stains appear, they will not aect the
performance and non-stick quality of the Oil Infused DuraCeramic™ coating.
STORAGE AND MAINTENANCE
• Unplug cord. Allow appliance to cool before storing. Store your wae maker in a dry location, such as on a tabletop or countertop, or on a cupboard shelf. Wind the electrical cord into a coil and secure with a twist fastener. For convenience, lock the closure latch and store vertically for tight storage spaces.
Other than recommended cleaning, no further user maintenance is necessary.
