Installing The Batteries
The ZAPPER needs 2 new “AAA/LRO3” alkaline batteries.
1 Remove the battery cover from the back of the ZAPPER by pressing
down on the tab.
2 Match the batteries to the +/- marks inside the battery case, then
insert the batteries.
3 Press the battery cover back into place.
See picture of the ZAPPER 3 remote on page 3.
1 LED
The LED (Light Emitting Diode) will flash red when a key is pressed to show the remote is working
2 Magic
The MAGIC key is used to set up your ZAPPER and to access special features.
3 Power
The Power key turns your devices both on and off.
4 Device Keys
The TV ,VCR and SAT keys select the home entertainment device to be controlled. Pressing the TV key allows the remote to control the functions of your Television. After pressing VCR you can operate your Video Cassette Recorder. After pressing SAT, you can operate your Satellite Receiver or Cable Converter.
Important notes:
- In order to avoid having to reprogram your ZAPPER after you remove the batteries, you will need to insert new batteries within 5 minutes.
- Also, it is best that you do not use rechargeable batteries.
- On the inside of the battery compartment door you will find a label on which to write your set-up codes after your ZAPPER is set up for your devices. Please write down your codes for easy, future reference.
Features and Functions
5 Menu Key (for SAT only)
When in SAT operation, the Menu key controls the same function as it did on your original remote.
6 Mute/OK
The Mute key operates the same function it did on your orginal remote. It is also used to activate the Scan feature (page 10). When in SAT operation, whilst in Menu mode, the Mute key will operate the OK function.
7 Volume+/-, Programme +/-
The Volume and Programme keys operate just as on your original remote control. These keys are also used to program the ZAPPER for your devices and to control the Colour and Brightness settings of your television (page 10). When in SAT operation, whilst in Menu mode, these keys can be used as navigation keys.
8 Video Recorder Keys
After pressing the VCR key, the Video Recorder keys operate the functions of your Video Recorder. To prevent accidental recordings, the Record key must be pressed twice.

Direct Set-Up
To set up the ZAPPER for your Television, Video and Satellite Receiver (or Cable Converter) follow the instructions below. To set up your Television:
1 Find your Television code in the Set-Up Code section (page
66-80). Codes are listed by brand name. The most popular codes are listed first. Make sure that your Television is
switched on (not in standby).
2 Press and release the TV key to select the device.
3 Press and hold down MAGIC until the red light blinks
twice (it will blink once then twice).
4 Enter your 5-digit code according to the chart below.
The red light will blink twice.
5 Now, aim the ZAPPER at your Television and press
POWER. If your Television switches off, your ZAPPER
should be ready to operate your device.
6 Turn your device back on and try all the remote’s functi-
ons to ensure they are working properly. If the functions do not work properly, repeat steps 1-6 using another code listed under your brand.
7 Write the codes for your TV, VCR and SAT in the
boxes provided on page 7 and inside the battery compartment for easy future reference.

(Example: To enter the Sony TV code 24432, you would press Volume(-), Programme(-), Programme(-), Programme(+), Volume(-).
If your device does not respond to the ZAPPER after you have tried all the codes listed for your brand, try the Search Method.
Make sure you write your correct 5 digit codes in the boxes provided inside the battery compartment and on this page.

Important notes:
- To set up your Video Recorder, Satellite Receiver or Cable Converter, follow the same instructions above, only press the VCR or SAT key during step 2.
- Some codes are quite similar. If your device does not respond or is not functioning properly with one of the codes, follow steps 1-6 with each code listed for your brand.
- If none of the codes listed for your brand operate your device, follow the Search Method described in the next section. The Search Method can be used even if your brand is not listed at all.
- Remember, to control your device after you have programmed it with the ZAPPER, you must press the device key first (TV, VCR or SAT).

Search Method
If your Television, VCR, Satellite or Cable Converter does not respond to the ZAPPER after trying all the codes listed for your brand, try searching for your code. The Searching Method allows you to find the code of your devi­ce by scanning through all the codes contained in the memory of the ONE FOR ALL remote control. To search for your TV code:
1 Make sure that your Television is switched on (not in
standby).
2 Press the TV key on the ZAPPER.
3 Press and hold down MAGIC until the red light blinks
twice (it will blink once then twice).
4 Next, press the Programme(-) key three times.
5 Next, slowly alternate between TV and POWER until your
Television turns off. You may have to press these keys many times, so be patient. Remember, you must aim the ZAPPER at your device the entire time you are searching for your code.
6 When your device turns off, press and release MAGIC, to
store the code.
The zapper should now be ready to operate your television. Turn your tele­vision back on and try all the remote’s functions to ensure they are wor­king properly. If some of the ZAPPER’S commands are not operating cor­rectly, try the search method again, you may be using the wrong code.

- To search for the code for your VCR, Satellite Receiver or Cable Converter, follow the same instructions above, only press the VCR or SAT key during step 2 and 5.
- If your Video’s original remote control does not have a power key, press PLAY instead of POWER when searching for your code.
- During step 5, you may have to press these keys many times (up to 150!), so be patient. Remember, you must aim the ZAPPER at your device the entire time you are searching for your code.

Code Blink Out
After you have used the Search Method, you can find out which code the ZAPPER responded to by blinking back the code. It’s useful to know your Television, Video, Satellite Receiver or Cable Converter code for future refe­rence. Remember, you can only blink back your code after the ZAP-
PER is operating your device.
To blink out your TV code:
1 Press the TV key on the ZAPPER.
2 Press and hold the MAGIC key until the red light
blinks twice (it will blink once then twice).
3 Next, press Programme(-), Programme(-),
Programme(+).
4 For the first digit of your 5-digit code, press Volume + ( )
and count all the red blinks.
5 For the second digit, press Volume - ( ) and count all
the red blinks.
6 For the third digit, press Programme(+) and count all
the red blinks.
7 For the fourth digit, press Programme(-) and count all
the red blinks.
8 For the fifth digit, press MUTE and count all the red blinks.
Now you have your 5-digit code. Write your code in the boxes provided previously and inside the battery compartment for easy, future reference.
Important note: To blink out the code for your Video Recorder, Satellite Receiver or Cable Converter, follow the same instructions above, only press the VCR or SAT key during step 1.
