DSS Player 2002 Features

DSS Player 2002 can be installed by using a license ID that is supplied with the product.
Functions provided by DSS Player 2002 are summarized below:

- Allows speech recorded on the DS-2000 to be stored and managed as DSS audio
files on a PC.

- Plays audio files.

- Converts DSS files to WAVE files.

- Allows DSS files to be recorded directly from the DS-2000 to a PC.

- Allows recorded speech to be converted to text when used in conjunction with speech
recognition software.

Notes

• USB ports are not available on PCs running Windows 95 or that have been
upgraded from Windows 95 to any other OS. An optional PC Card adapter or
floppy disk adapter is needed to download audio files to such PCs.

• Certain functions, such as remote and direct recording, do not work on PCs
that don't have USB ports.

Using This Book

This book explains how to install DSS Player 2002 and connect the hardware. For
more detailed instructions, view the Online Help after the software has been installed.

Using Online Help

To open Online Help, do either of the following:

- Click on the [Start] button, select [Programs], then [Olympus DSS Player 2002],
then click on [Help].

- While DSS Player 2002 is running, choose [Contents] from the [Help] menu.

Installing DSS Player 2002

You need to enter the license ID that is supplied with the product during installation to
run this software.

Notes

• If you intend to use speech recognition software, install it first. For instruction
on installing the speech recognition software, refer to the user’s guide supplied
with the speech recognition software.

• If you are running Windows 2000/XP (Professional only) on a network, you
need to log on as an administrator.

Insert the DSS Player CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive.

The installation program will start automatically.

Note

If the installer does not launch automatically, follow these steps
(it is assumed that the CD-ROM drive is assigned drive letter D:):

(1) Click on the [Start] button and select [Run].
(2) Enter “D:/Setup.exe” in the [Open] field and click on [OK].

The installation Language Selection dialog box opens.

Click on the desired language to select it.

Click on [Next] when the DSS Player 2002 opening screen appears.

Confirm your acceptance of the terms of the Licensing Agreement.

You must accept the terms of the Licensing Agreement to install DSS Player 2002.

If you accept them, click on [Yes].

Getting Ready

Register user information.

Register user information. Enter your name, company name, and license ID number

(serial number).
The license ID number is printed on the license ID card. Click on [Next]. A

confirmation dialog box opens, click on [Yes].

Select where to install DSS Player 2002.

This lets you specify the folder in which to install DSS Player 2002. Click on [Browse]

to find the desired installation folder. To accept the default folder, click on [Next].

Note

If the installation folder does not exist, a confirmation dialog box opens to get
your permission to create a folder for this purpose. Click on [Yes].

Select a program menu folder.

You may change the program menu folder to another one, such as [Start Up]. To

accept the default folder, click on [Next].

Authorizing the start of file copying.

Confirm all “Current Settings”. To accept them, click on [Next].

To change the program menu folder or installation folder, click on [Back].

Copy files.

Wait until DSS Player 2002 is installed on your PC, then click on [Finish].

Set up Acrobat Reader.

When the Acrobat Reader Setup dialog box opens, click on [Next].

Select where to install Acrobat Reader.

Specify the folder in which to install Acrobat Reader. To accept the default folder,

click on [Next].

Setup Status.

Wait until Acrobat Reader is installed on your PC.

Exit Acrobat Reader setup.

When the Exit Setup dialog box opens, click on [OK].

Install Shield Wizard complete.

You may be requested to restart your PC when setup is complete. If so, make

sure that [Yes, I want to restart my PC now.] is selected before clicking on [Finish].

Getting Ready

Then, when the message to do so appears, shut your PC off and restart it.

Note

When you start Windows after DSS Player 2002 has been installed, is
displayed on the taskbar.

Uninstalling DSS Player 2002

The process of removing software installed on your PC is called uninstalling. Perform
uninstalling when you no longer need the software.

Exit DSS Player.

Connecting the DS-2000 Digital Recorder

Notes

• Make sure you finish installing DSS Player 2002 before connecting the DS-

2000. If you connect the DS-2000 before installing DSS Player 2002, the
“Add New Hardware Wizard” dialog box will open. If this happens, click on
[Cancel] to exit the wizard, then install DSS Player 2002 (

• Before connecting the USB cable to the DS-2000, make sure that the DS­2000 is in the stop mode, with its rear-panel POWER/LOCK switch ON and
that the HOLD switch is not set to the HOLD position.

DSS Player 2002 peut être installé en utilisant une identité de licence fournie avec le produit.

disque souple en option est nécessaire pour télécharger les fichiers audio

Pour ouvrir l’Aide en ligne, exécuter l’une des deux opération suivantes:

- Sous Windows, cliquez sur le bouton [Démarrer], sélectionnez [Programmes], puis
[Olympus DSS Player 2002], et cliquez ensuite sur [Aide].

- Lorsque le DSS Player est en marche, choisissez [Sommaire de l’aide] dans le

Installation de DSS Player 2002

Il est nécessaire d’entrer une identité de licence fournie avec le produit pendant
l’installation pour faire fonctionner ce logiciel.

Remarques

• Si le logiciel de reconnaissance vocale doit être utilisé, l’installer en premier.
En ce qui concerne les instructions d’installation du logiciel de reconnaissance
vocale, se référer au guide de l’utilisateur fourni avec le logiciel de
reconnaissance vocale.

• Si vous utilisez Windows 2000/XP (Professional seulement) en réseau, vous
devrez vous inscrire comme administrateur.

Insérer le CD-ROM de DSS Player dans le lecteur de CD-ROM.

Le programme d’installation démarre automatiquement.

Si l’installateur n’est pas lancé automatiquement , suivre ces étapes (il est
supposé que la lettre de lecteur D est assignée au lecteur de CD-ROM).

Player 2002 est affiché.

Remarque

Si le dossier d’installation n’existe pas encore, une boîte de dialogue s’ouvre,
dans laquelle vous pouvez confirmer la création d’un dossier réservé à
l’installation. Cliquez sur [Oui].

Sélectionnez un dossier de programme.

Vous pouvez renommer le dossier de programme, [Démarrage], par ex. Pour

accepter le dossier par défaut, cliquez sur [Suivant].

Démarrer la copie des fichiers.

Confirmez tous les “Configuration actuelle”. Pour les accepter, cliquez sur

Remarque

Pour modifier le dossier des menus du programme ou le dossier d’installation,

Copier les fichiers.

Patientez jusqu’à ce que le DSS Player 2002 soit installé sur votre PC, puis

Désinstaller un logiciel se trouvant sur votre PC, c’est effectuer le processus inverse
de l’installation d’un logiciel. Si vous n’utilisez plus un logiciel, désinstallez-le.

Quittez DSS Player 2002.

Connexion de l’enregistreur numérique DS-2000

Remarques

• Veiller à ce que l’installation de DSS Player 2002 soit terminée avant de
connecter le DS-2000. Si le DS-2000 est connecté avant d’avoir installé DSS
Player 2002, la boîte de dialogue “Ajouter le wizard Nouveau matériel” s’ouvre.
Dans ce cas, cliquez sur [Annuler] pour quitter l’assistant, puis installez le
DSS Player 2002 (

Préparation

• Avant de connecter le câble USB au DS-2000, s’assurer que le DS-2000 est
en mode Arrêt avec l’interrupteur de son panneau arrière POWER/LOCK
sur la position de marche et que l’interrupteur HOLD n’est pas réglé sur la
position HOLD.

Insérez l’extrémité A du câble USB dans le port
USB de votre PC ou dans le hub USB.

Assurez-vous que le DS-2000 n’est pas en
marche, avant d’insérer l’extrémité b du câble

Remarques

Installation des DSS Player 2002

Sie müssen bei der Installation die Lizenz-ID eingeben, die mit dem Produkt mitgeliefert
ist, um diese Software ausführen zu können.

Hinweise

• Wenn Sie Spracherkennungssoftware verwenden möchten, installieren Sie
diese zuerst. Anweisungen zur Installation der Spracherkennungssoftware

• Melden Sie sich unter Windows 2000 /XP (nur Professional) als Administrator
an.

Setzen Sie die DSS Player CD-ROM in das CD-Laufwerk ein.

Das Installationsprogramm startet automatisch.

Wenn der Installer nicht automatisch gestartet wird, folgen Sie diesen Schritten
(es wird angenommen, dass das CD-Laufwerk die Laufwerkbezeichnung D:
trägt).

Hier können Sie den Ordner angeben, in den Sie den DSS Player 2002 installieren

Inserire il CD-ROM di DSS Player nell'unità CD-ROM.

• Prima di collegare il cavo USB al DS-2000, accertarsi che il DS-2000 sia in modalità

Instalando el DSS Player 2002

Necesita usted entrar la licencia de identificacióna que es suministrada con el producto
durante la instalación de este programa.

Notas

• Si usted pretende usar programas de reconocimiento de habla, instálelos
primero. Para instrucciones en como instalar el programa de reconocimiento
del habla, favor de consultar la guía del usuario suministrada con el programa
de reconocimiento del habla.

• Si está ejecutando Windows 2000 /XP (Sólo Professional) en una red, tiene
que acceder a ésta como un administrador.

Insertar el CD-ROM del DSS Player en el lector de CD-ROM

El programa de instalación se iniciará de modo automático.

Nota

Si el instalador no es lanzado automáticamente, siga los siguientes pasos
(se asume que al lector de CD-ROM se le asignó la letra de unidad D:):

(1) Haga clic en el botón [Inicio] y elija [Ejecutar].
(2) Introduzca “D:/Instalar.exe” en el campo [Abrir] y haga clic en [OK].

A continuación aparece el cuadro de diálogo Selección de idioma.

Registre la información del usuario. Entre su nombre, nombre de la empresa y

El número ID de licencia está impreso en la tarjeta ID de licencia. Pulse [Continuar].

Se abre un cuadro de diálogo de confirmación, pulse [Sí].

Elija dónde desea instalar DSS Player 2002.

Esto le permite especificar la carpeta en la que desea instalar DSS Player 2002.

• Antes de conectar el cable USB a la DS-2000, asegúrese de que la DS­2000 esté en el modo de detener con su interruptor de POWER/LOCK del
panel-trasero encendido y que el interruptor de HOLD no esté asignado a la
posición de HOLD.
