Notes on use (Battery Charger)

●Do not use this product as a DC power supply. It may cause overheating and fire.

●Do not use the batteries if you find something wrong with them such as deformity or leakage. It may cause overheating and explosion.

●Do not insert metal wires or similar objects. It may cause electric shock, overheating and fire.

●For safety, do not keep the charger within the reach of children. Before allowing children to use it, parents should explain to them carefully how

to properly use the charger.

CAUTION

●Do not use the charger if the power plug is damaged or the plug is not completely connected to the outlet, otherwise it may cause a short circuit, fire or electric shock.

Persons who use BU-300E

When using in a foreign country, use a power plug that is compatible with the shape of the power outlet.

Persons who use BU-300U

Since the charger of an Olympus CAMEDIA digital camera is directly connected to the power outlet, so it cannot be used in areas where different shapes of plugs are generally used.

Notes on use (B-01E Rechargeable Battery)

DANGER

● Be sure to use only with the B-20C/BU-100/BU-200/BU-300 battery charger.

● If any liquid from a battery gets into your eyes, promptly wash it off with clean water and consult your doctor at once.

●Stop charging if the charge is still incomplete after the specified time it should take.

●Do not expose the rechargeable batteries to water. Do not allow water to contact the terminals.

●Do not remove or damage the battery case.

●Do not directly connect more than 20 batteries together.

●Do not use the batteries if you find something wrong with them such as leakage, color change or deformity.

●Keep the batteries out of the reach of children.

●Should any battery liquid get on skin or clothing, promptly wash it off with clean water.

●Keep batteries away from fire.

●Never short-circuit or disassemble batteries.

CAUTION

●B-01E rechargeable batteries are exclusively for use with the Olympus CAMEDIA digital cameras. Do not use them in combination with other equipment.

●Do not subject batteries to strong shocks.

●Do not use charged and discharged batteries together.

●Do not use with other types of batteries, or with batteries that have different voltages or brand names.

●When connecting more than two batteries, be sure they were all charged simultaneously.

●When using new batteries, or batteries which have not been used for a long time, be sure to recharge them even if they were only used for a short period of time.

Using the batteries outside the above temperature range may result in declining efficiency and shorter battery life.

In order to prevent battery leakage or rust, remove the batteries from the products when you will not be using them for a long time, and store them separately.

How to insert the batteries

You cannot charge the batteries when the positive and negative polarities on each battery do not correspond with those of the charger. Be sure to insert batteries in their proper orientation as shown in the figure.

How to charge

1 Connect the power plug to the main unit's AC connector. (BU-300E only)

2 Insert the batteries as detailed in "How to insert the batteries" in the instructions.

3Plug in type (BU-300U)

Insert the plug into the electrical outlet (AC 100-240V) according to the diagram.

Notes:

●Batteries may become warm while charging, but this is not malfunction.

●There may be static on other electronic equipment (such as a radio or television) if the battery charger is plugged in to the same outlet. If this occurs, plug the battery charger into a different outlet.

●Avoid charging or discharging close to a heat source (such as in front of a heater or in direct sunlight).

●Charge batteries within the temperature range of 0°C - 40°C/32°F - 104°F.

●When you carry the batteries, use the provided battery case to avoid damage or shortcircuits.

●A humming sound may occur during charging. This is normal and is not a malfunction.

Information regarding rechargeable batteries

This charger is exclusively for use with Olympus CAMEDIA digital cameras. Never use in combination with other equipment.

1Discharging

●Batteries self-discharge while they are not in use. Be sure to charge them regularly before use.

2Battery life

●Charging and discharging are possible for approximately. 300 times depending on their use.

3Operating temperature

●Batteries are chemical products. Battery efficiency may change for a time even within the recommended temperature range, but this is not a malfunction.

Note:

New batteries or batteries that have not been used for a long time (more than one month) may not be fully charged. This is not a malfunction, but is a characteristic of the battery. Charge them two or three times before using them for the first time or when they have not been used for a long period.

●When you dispose of dead batteries always observe the laws and regulations regarding the disposable of such items.

●If NiMH rechargeable batteries are not fully discharged, protect against shortcircuiting (e.g. by taping the contacts) before disposing.

For customers in Germany

Olympus has a contract with the GRS (Joint Battery Disposal Association) in Germany to ensure environmentally friendly disposal.

Maintenance

In order not to damage the plastic, dirt should be removed using a dry and soft cloth. Using moistened cloth may cause malfunctions. Also, do not wipe with alcohol, thinner, benzine or cleanser which may delete the prints or cause the color fade. Periodically wipe off the positive and negative terminals of the charger and batteries with a dry cloth. Dirt build-up may prevent batteries from being charged.
