OASIS® WATER COOLER MODEL

POU1AQ SERIES, PROU1AQ SERIES

INSTRUCTIONS

A.INSPECTION

Inspect the carton and water cooler for evidence of rough handling and concealed damage. Damage claims should be filed with the carrier.

B.MAINTENANCE

1.Inspect the condenser for dirt and lint every three months. If cleaning is required, disconnect the power supply cord, then clean the condenser with a small stiff non-wire brush. Observance of this procedure will ensure adequate air circulation through the condenser for efficient and economical operation.

2.A cone shaped strainer can be found in the tube leading into the mechanical float valve on the reservoir lid. It can be removed and flushed clean. Be sure to replace it in the tube once cleaned.

C.OVERLOAD PROTECTION

The compressor motor is equipped with an automatic reset protector which will disconnect the motor from the line in case of an overload.

D.LUBRICATION

This unit is equipped with a hermetically sealed compressor which does not require any additional lubrication.

E.TO PUT WATER COOLER INTO SERVICE

1.The water cooler should be located a minimum of 2" (50mm) from the wall to assure adequate condenser air circulation.

2.If filter(s) are to be added, follow filter manufacturer’s recommended instructions. The easiest way to remove the access door, if desired, is to pull at the hand hold, then with the palm of your hand, tap the cabinet side about 6” (15cm) up from the base or at the OASIS label on the door front as shown in dimensional drawing.

3.Prepare reservoir using the following steps:

a)Remove reservoir from unit or, if preferred, plug hot tank inlet tube with a ½” (13mm) mean diameter cork

b)Clean inside of reservoir with a mild dish soap solution. You will need to remove the plastic packaging material from inside of the reservoir on PROU1AQ models.

c)Rinse thoroughly with filtered water.

d)Mix a solution of ½ teaspoon of household bleach to one (1) gallon of water or 2 ml of household bleach to 3 L of water.

e)Wipe down the inside of the reservoir with the solution. NOTE: Gloves should be worn during this procedure.

f)Rinse the reservoir with filtered water.

g)Completely fill the reservoir with filtered water. Drain reservoir through faucets.

h)Drain the water from any applicable tanks.

i)Reservoir is now ready for use.

4.Remove blue plug from “inlet” fitting on the back of the cooler. Push a ¼” OD copper tube into the fitting. Connect to cold water supply.

WARNING: A pressure regulator, such as a slow flow regulator, must be installed in front of the unit’s water inlet if the water pressure (including any possible pressure spikes) could exceed 100psig (690kpg).

5.Turn on water supply to cooler.

6.Check the available power supply against the water cooler data plate to assure correct electrical service. Plug power supply cord into receptacle.

CAUTION: On models with a hot tank, the hot tank switch must be in the “OFF” position. Switch is mounted on the column support inside the access door.

7.After the reservoir is full, check all connections for leaks.

8.Open each faucet until water flows freely.

9.On models with a hot tank, turn on the hot tank by depressing the switch toward the “RESET” position.

CAUTION: Failure to fill hot tank with water (instruction E.8) before turning on the hot tank can cause physical damage to the unit. CAUTION: WATER FROM HOT FAUCET CAN SCALD.

F.SAFETY FLOAT

The cooler is equipped with a safety float to prevent overfilling in case the fill float fails. If the fill float should fail, the safety float will be activated as the water level rises. When the safety float is activated, water flow to the reservoir will be shut off. Press the black reset button about half way down on the reservoir lid until you hear the water flow restart, then call your service representative. CAUTION: A hard impact or jarring of the unit while it is filling may trip the safety float.

G.TO DISCONTINUE USE OF WATER COOLER

1.Shut off water supply to cooler.

2.On models with a hot tank, place hot tank switch in the “OFF” position. Draw water from hot faucet until water is cool.

3.Disconnect power supply cord.

4.Drain reservoir through cold faucet.

5.On models with a hot tank, drain tank by placing a container under black drain valve located on the condenser. Turn drain valve counter clockwise to open, and catch water in container. OR, for convenience, insert one end of a 3/8” OD tube into the opening of the drain valve and the other into a container and drain. Close drain valve when the tank is empty.

6.ALWAYS DRAIN ALL WATER WHEN FREEZING TEMPERATURES ARE ANTICIPATED OR BEFORE SHIPPING THE WATER COOLER.

H.REMOVABLE RESERVOIR

The cooler is designed with a removable reservoir. The reservoir can be replaced with a sanitized unit during routine maintenance services.

1.To Remove Reservoir

a)Drain the cooler as described in Section G.

b)Remove the top by lifting it up and pressing in on the cabinet back. The best location to press is about 4” (100mm) in from either side, and 2” (50mm) from the top. This will help release the snapping mechanism.

c)Remove the reservoir lid by pushing down slightly near the lid center and lifting on each tab at the front of the lid. Once loose, lift on each of the other two corners so the lid lifts up as straight as possible.

d)Grasp the top of the reservoir using the handholds and pull slightly upward in a straight motion. There will be some resistance due to the sealing around the probe. Gently push the faucet handles in as you lift until they clear the cabinet overhang.

CAUTION: The hot faucet safety handle is especially prone to catch on the overhang.

2.Installing New Reservoir

a)The faucet cover can be removed from the current reservoir once it is out of the cabinet, and placed on the sanitized reservoir before installation. Do this by unsnapping the top of the faucet cover from the valve plate, and pulling it out and up. Follow the procedure in reverse to reinstall it.

b)For models with a hot tank, make sure the O-ring in the reservoir and on the hot tank manifold are lubricated with Dow Corning® 111 valve lubricant and sealant or equivalent.

c)DO NOT TOUCH THE INSIDE OF THE RESERVOIR WITH BARE HANDS. IT MUST REMAIN SANITARY.

d)Align reservoir with probe, push downward on the reservoir. You may need to tip the reservoir slightly to feed the faucet handles past the overhang. Continue pushing downward on the reservoir until the insulation rests on the shelf.

e)Replace the reservoir lid and cabinet top, making sure to snap each securely in place.
