Congratulations on your purchase of a NuTone Select-a-Tone chime. The chime

MOUNTING THE PUSHBUTTON TRANSMITTER
Refer to Figures 1 and 2.
1. Locate the Transmitter next to or near the door.
Do not mount the transmitter on a metal surface.

inserting the tip of a screwdriver in the slot at the bottom of the Transmitter and then gently rock the Transmitter cover apart from the Transmitter base.
3. Choose a level place to locate the Transmitter base.
4. Position the Transmitter base, and mark the mounting surface with a pencil through the two holes in the Transmitter.
5. Drill two

16" diameter holes at
the previously marked area.
6. Insert the plastic anchors into the 3⁄16" diameter holes.
7. Place Transmitter over anchors, and fasten with two screws provided. Do not replace cover at this time.
TRANSMITTER SOUND CODING
Refer to Figure 3.
1. The Transmitter can be coded to sound one of three chime sounds.
2. Select the desired sound as illustrated in Figure 3.

TRANSMITTER SECURITY CODING
Refer to Figure 3.
It is not necessary to change the
security code of the Transmitter unless you experience interference from other wireless devices.

BATTERY INSTALLATION
Refer to Figure 3.
1. Position the A23 12 volt battery
as illustrated. Be sure to observe polarity (+/–). For replacement battery, use EverReady®A23BP or Duracell®MN21B (or equivalent).
INSTALLING TRANSMITTER COVER
Refer to Figure 4.
1. Position the Transmitter cover over the Transmitter base. The red light must be lined up over the hole in the Transmitter cover. Firmly press cover over base.

PREPARING THE RECEIVER
One Year Limited Warranty
WARRANTY OWNER: NuTone warrants to the original consumer purchaser of its products that such products will be free from defects in materials or workmanship for a period of one (1) year from the date of original purchase. THERE ARE NO OTHER WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED,
INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.
During this one year period, NuTone will, at its option, repair or replace, without charge, any
product or part which is found to be defective under normal use and service. THIS WARRANTY DOES NOT EXTEND TO FLUORESCENT LAMP STARTERS OR TUBES, FILTERS, DUCT, ROOF CAPS, WALL CAPS AND OTHER ACCESSORIES FOR DUCTING. This warranty does not cover (a) normal maintenance and service or (b) any products or parts which have been subject to misuse, negligence, accident, improper maintenance or repair (other than by NuTone), faulty installation or installation contrary to recommended installation instructions.
The duration of any implied warranty is limited to the one year period as specified for the express warranty. Some states do not allow limitation on how long an implied warranty lasts, so the above limitation may not apply to you.
NUTONE’S OBLIGATION TO REPAIR OR REPLACE, AT NUTONE’S OPTION, SHALL BE THE PURCHASER’S SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE REMEDY UNDER THIS WARRANTY. NUTONE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR SPECIAL DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH PRODUCT USE OR PERFORMANCE. Some states do not allow
the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you. This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights, which vary from state to state. This warranty supersedes all prior warranties.
WARRANTY SERVICE: To qualify for warranty service, you must (a) notify NuTone at the address stated below or telephone 1/800-543-8687, (b) give the model number and part identification and (c) describe the nature of any defect in the product or part. At the time of requesting warranty service, you must present evidence of the original purchase date.

REMOVING THE RECEIVER COVER
Refer to Figure 5.
1. Press the two locking tabs located n the bottom of the Receiver cover,
o and lift cover from base.
2. Set chime cover aside.
MOUNTING OF RECEIVER
Refer to Figure 6.
Receiver may be used as a portable receiver or may be wall mounted. Use the
ollowing procedure when
f mounting the Receiver to the wall.
1. Select the desired mounting location. This location should be at least 1 foot away from metal objects and within 100 feet of the chime transmitter.
2. Drill one

⁄16" hole at the desired mounting height.

5. Place the keyhole slot in the receiver base over the screw head. Slide the Receiver down to secure it.
6. Level the chime receiver on the mounting surface.
7. Mark the mounting surface with a pencil at the center of the oval hole in the bottom of the receiver base.
8. Gently remove the chime base from the mounting surface and drill one

⁄16" hole at the previously marked area.
9. Insert the plastic anchor into the the chime receiver.
10. Insert the screw through the chime base into the plastic anchor. Level chime base and tighten screw.

of cover to bottom of chime receiver base. Firmly press chime cover onto

TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE
ROBLEM

1. Chime does not sound.
Check batteries and polarity. Make sure receiver or transmitter
is not located on metal surface. Check receiver and transmitter security
code.
2. Chime changes tone. Check batteries in receiver.
3. Chime looses volume. Check batteries in receiver.
4. Chime is activated by another wireless device.
5. When transmitter button is pressed, the incorrect chime sound is heard.
Change the security code in the transmitter and receiver. These codes must match.
Check the sound code jumpers in the transmitter.

Refer to Figure 7 for placement and polarity of batteries. The NuTone wireless chime receiver requires four “D” size alkaline batteries.
ADJUSTING THE RECEIVER VOLUME
Refer to Figure 7.
1. Slide power switch to the ON position.
2. Press Transmitter button. The red light
on the Transmitter will light.
3. Adjust volume control to desired sound level.
To increase volume, turn the control clockwise.
