Settings of HI-1 and HI-2 now appear in the camera displays as H 1 and H 2 respectively. Any references to HI-1 and HI-2 in the camera manual apply to all settings over ISO 800, including those listed above.
To ne Compensation (Page 68)
The tone compensation menu can now be used to choose from up to three userdefi ned curves. Tone curves can be downloaded to the camera using Camera Control Pro version 1.1.1 or Nikon Capture 4 version 4.4.2 (available separately).
Color Mode (Page 70)
A Black-and-white (sRGB) option has been added to the color mode menu. This option, which is only available when sRGB is selected for Color space, can be used to create richly shaded black-and-white photographs of a wide variety of subjects, from portraits to landscapes.
Using a GPS Unit (Page 132)
The camera will now record compass headings supplied by GPS units with a digital compass. When using a GPS unit equipped with a compass, align the GPS device with the camera lens and keep it at least 20 cm (8 in.) from the camera body as shown at right.
The compass heading appears on the GPS data page of the photo information display as shown at right. In addition, latitude and longitude are now shown to three decimal places (page 138).

to the shooting menu without creating a copy. Cropped copies are saved as FINE-quality JPEG images named by adding one to the current fi le number. Depending on the size of the crop, copies will be 2,540 × 1,920, 1,920 × 1,440, 1,280 × 960, 960 × 720, or 640 × 480 pixels in size. Cropped copies have the same white balance, shooting data, and image optimization settings as the original. Camera orientation (page 165) is not copied to the new fi le, with the result that all cropped copies are displayed in “wide” (landscape) orientation during playback. Any voice memos associated with the original are not copied.
Trimming
Trimming is available only with photographs taken with the D2X. The D2X can not be used to crop photographs taken with other cameras. If an NEF (RAW)+JPEG image is selected, only the NEF (RAW) image will be trimmed. Cropped copies can not be selected for trimming.
