NIKON D2HS Linearity adjustment

VBA10601-R.3665.A
9-3. Linearity adjustment
 (1) PC ・OSWindows98SE or higher ・Memory: 512M or more recommended ・Monitor: Set the color setting to "32bit (TrueColor)". For software-creating reasons, tone jump appears in images with 16bit-or-less color setting. Checks are made on start-up to give warning except "32bit".
 (2) Camera setting ・Communication mode: PTP ・AE mode: M ・AF mode: M
・Set the camera so that the grey chart stays within the viewnder frame.
(Revision
Note: If illumination lamp or outside light reects on the surface of the grey chart, correct
judgement and adjustment become impossible. Therefore, in case such light is conrmed on shot images, spread a cover over the chart and camera, if necessary.
・Displace the focus ring of the lens only slightly from its best focused position (to avoid moire).
 (3) Inspection and adjustment ・First, click on "CHECK" button to conrm the appearance on PC screen. ・Click "ADJUST" button to make the linearity adjustment. ・Click "INSPECTION" button to make the linearity inspection.
9-4. Sensitivity ratio reference value calculation
・Provide the power for the camera via AC adapter. ・Connect the camera and PC via USB cable. ・Set the focus mode to M and the mode dial to S of the camera. ・Turn the camera switch ON. ・Set the color viewer luminance to LV13 equiv. ・Select "SENSITIVITY, RATIO REFERENCE VALUE CALC" of the menu on screen. ・The calculation of the sensitivity reference value starts. The message to set conditions is displayed. ・Attach the tool lens (Aperture F8) and ND lter (ND 8× 1 ND 4 ×2to the camera. ・Get the camera closest to the center of the illuminated surface of the color viewer. ・The adjustment starts. When it is completed, the software goes on to the sensitivity ratio reference value.
The calculation of the sensitivity ratio reference value starts, and "SET TOOL LENS (f8)" is displayed.
Remove ND lter.
The adjustment starts. When it is completed, the sensitivity and sensitivity reference values are stored in
the standard setting le (STD, DAT).
After this procedure, when the shooting image adjustment is made, the sensitivity and sensitivity ratio that
were calculated this time are used.
Calculate the sensitivity and sensitivity ratio reference values once in about every 3 months, when the
uorescent of the color viewer or tool lens (aperture F8) or ND lter (ND4) is replaced.
