1.0 INTRODUCTION
This Quick Start Guide will help you install OnlineAVL 2. OnlineAVL 2 is an application designed to run
on the Microsoft
®
.NET Framework Version 2.0 which allows you to view and monitor your vehicles on
an interactive map display. In order for you to be able to fully utilise OnlineAVL 2 you must first ensure
the following:
1. Your vehicle(s) have been setup with the Navman Wireless Halo Qube Global Positioning System
tracking device. Contact your Navman Wireless representative to ensure that this has been
completed.
2. You have been setup with a user account for access to the Navman Wireless Fleet. OnlineAVL 2
requires a ‘user name’ and ‘password’ for security purposes before you will be permitted to access
the Navman Wireless Fleet Management Server and view your vehicles. Contact your Navman
Wireless representative to ensure that this has been done.

Recommended System Requirements
2.1 Hardware
• 266 MHz or higher Pentium compatible CPU
• At least 256 megabytes (MB) of RAM; more memory generally improves responsiveness
• 2GB of available Hard Disk space or more
• A direct Internet connection at a minimum of 56kbs speed however 128kbs or higher is
recommended
2.2 Software
• Operating System : Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 or Vista
• Microsoft Internet Explorer Browser (5.05 or later required)
• Microsoft .Net 2.0 (or later)
• Patch from MS required for the following Printer Command Language printers.

Virtual Earth requires a Web browser that supports JavaScript. JavaScript is enabled in the default
Medium-High Security Level.
Internet Explorer 5.0, 5.01, 5.5, 6, 7
1. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options, click the Security tab, select the Internet Web
content zone, and then click Custom Level.
2. In the Settings box, scroll down to the Scripting section, and click Enable under Active scripting.
3. Click OK, and then click OK again.
•NOTE: In Internet Explorer, the term "Active scripting" or "ActiveX scripting" refers to
JavaScript, Microsoft JScript scripting, and Microsoft Visual Basic Scripting Edition.
When you complete this procedure, you enable all three types of scripts.
Navman Wireless OnlineAVL 2 is built on the Microsoft® .NET Framework.
Before you install OnlineAVL 2, you must have the Microsoft .NET Framework installed.
NOTE: You may already have it installed as part of Windows Automatic Updates. OnlineAVL 2 requires
version 2.0 (or higher) of the .NET Framework.

3.2 Navman Wireless OnlineAVL 2 installation
Once you have the Microsoft .NET Framework installed, click on the appropriate link below to install
Navman Wireless OnlineAVL 2.0.
NOTE: Installation should be performed using Internet Explorer as your browser (if you use another
browser you may have to take additional steps to make this work).

4.0 GETTING STARTED
Before starting the OnlineAVL 2 application, ensure that an Internet connection is available.
NOTE:
• If you are using a Local Area Network (LAN), connectivity to the Internet should always be
available
• If using a dial up connection, start an Internet session prior to launching the OnlineAVL
application
4.1 Starting the OnlineAVL 2 application
• Start the Navman Wireless OnlineAVL application from the 'Start' button > Programs > Navman
Wireless > OnlineAVL 2’ or via the shortcut icon on your desktop
• The OnlineAVL 2 Logon screen will appear as below

4.2 To Log on to the OnlineAVL 2 applictaion
• Enter your 'user name' & 'password' as provided by your Navman Wireless Dealer or OnlineAVL
2 Administrator
NOTE: the 'user name' and 'password' are case sensitive
• Click 'Login'
• When the logon is completed the OnlineAVL 2 application will open
Trouble logging on
If you are unable to connect to OnlineAVL 2, please
• Check you internet connectivity (try accessing a web site in your browser).
• If you do have internet connectivity but are still unable to connect to the OnlineAVL 2 application,
please contact the Navman Wireless Support team.
4.3 Changing Your Password
To change your OnlineAVL 2 ‘Login’ password.
1. In the OnlineAVL 2 application, go to the Menu bar and select ‘File > Password’
2. Enter your existing password
3. Enter your new pa ssword
4. Confirm your new password entry again
5. Click ‘OK’. Your ne w password will replace the old one
NOTE: both your ‘user name’ and ‘password’ are case sensitive
4.4 Disconnecting From The Onlineavl 2 Server
To terminate your OnlineAVL 2 user session, select: ‘File’ > ‘Disconnect’ from the OnlineAVL 2 Menu
bar.
4.5 Exiting The Application
To exit the OnlineAVL 2 application:
• Go to the Menu bar and select: ‘File > Exit’ or
• Click on the ‘Close ‘icon on the top-right corner of the OnlineAVL 2 application
