12Apps & updates
Choose carefully
Apps are great. There's something for everyone. Play,
communicate, work, or ha ve fun. But re member, ch oose
your apps carefully. Here are a fe w tips:
• To help prevent spyware, phishing, or viruses from
aff ecting y our ph one or pri vacy, use apps from tr us ted
sites, like Market.
• In Market, check the apps’ ratings and comments
before installing.
• If you doubt the safety of an app, don't install it.
• Like all apps, downloaded apps will use up memory,
data, battery, and processing power—some more
than others. For e x ample, a simple battery level
widget will use less than a streaming music player
app. After installing an app, if you're not happy with
how much memory, data, battery or processing
power it's using, uninstall it. You can always install it
again later.
• Just like web browsi ng, you may want to mo ni t o r
childrens’ access to apps to help prevent exposure to
inappropriate content.
• Certain apps may not provide completely accurate
inform ation. Take care, especially when it comes to
personal health.

Radio Frequency (RF) Energy
Exposure to RF Energy
Your mobile device contains a transmitter and receiver. When it is ON, it receives and
transmits RF energy. When you communicate with your mobile device, the system handling
your call controls the power level at which your mobile device transmits.
Your mobile device is designed to comply with local regulatory requirements in your country

RF Energy Interference/Compatibility
Nearly every electronic devic e is sub je c t to RF ene rgy in terference from external sources if
inadequately shielded, des i gn ed, or otherwise configured for RF energy comp ati bi lity. In
some circumstances, your m obile device may cause interference wi th other devices.
Follow Instructions to Avoid Interference Problems

Implantable Medical Devices
If you have an implantable medical device, such as a pacemaker or defibrillator, consult your
physician before using th is m obi l e dev i c e.
Persons with implantable m edical devices should observe the follow in g precautions:
•
ALW AYS keep the mobile devic e m ore than 20 centimeters (8inches) from the
implantable medical devic e w hen the mobile device is turned ON.
•
DO NOT carry the mobile devic e in the bre as t poc ket.
•
Use the ear opposite the impl antable medical device to minimize the potential for
interference.
•
Turn OFF the m obi l e device immediately if you have any reason to suspect that
interference is taking place.
Read and follow the directions from the manufacturer of your implanta bl e me di c al dev i ce. If
you have any questions about using your mobile device with your implantable medical

Specific Absorption Rate (FCC)
SAR (IEEE)
YOUR MOBILE DEVICE MEETS FCC LIMITS FOR EXPOSURE
TO RADIO WAVES.
Your mobile devi c e is a rad io trans m itter and receiver. It is designed not to exceed the limits
for exposure to radio waves (ra dio frequency electromagnetic fields) adopted by the Federal
Communications Commission (FCC). These limits include a substantial safety margin
designed to assure the safe ty of all persons, regardless of age and health.
The radio wave exposure gu id el in es use a unit of measurement known as the Sp ecif ic
Absorption Rate, or SAR. The SAR lim it for mobi le devi ces is 1.6W/kg.
Tests for SAR are conducted using standard operati ng positions with the device transmitting
at its highest certified power leve l in al l tested frequency bands. The highest SAR val ues
under the FCC guidelines for y our device model are listed below:
Head SARCDMA 800/1900, Wi -F i, B lu etooth1.39 W/kg
Body-worn SARCDMA 800/1900, Wi -Fi, B lu etooth1.34 W/kg
During use, the actual SAR values for your device are usually well below the val ues st ated.
This is because, for purposes of system efficiency and to minimize interference on the
network, the operating powe r of y our m obile device is automatically decreased w he n ful l
power is not nee ded for the call. The l ow er the power output of the device, the lower its SA R
value.
Body-worn SAR testing has been carried out using an approved accessory or at a separation
distance of 2.5cm (1 inch). T o meet RF exposure guidelines durin g body-worn operation, the
device should be in an approv ed ac ce ss ory or pos i ti oned at least 2.5 cm (1inch) away from

Hearing Aid Compatibil ity with Mobile
Phones
Hearing Aid Compatibility
Some Motorola phones are m ea s ured for compatibility with hearing aids. If the box for your
particular model has “Rated for Hearing Aids” printed on it, the following ex pl anation
applies.
When some mobile pho nes are used near some hearing device s (hea rin g ai ds and cochlear
implants), users m ay detect a buzzing, hummin g, or whining noise. Some hearing devices are
more immune than others to thi s int erference noise, and phones also vary in the am ount of
interference they generate.
The wireless telephone in dus try has developed ratings for some of their m obil e phones, to
assist hearing device users in findin g phones that may be compatible with their he ari ng
devices. Not all phon es ha ve been ra ted . Phon es tha t are rated have the rati ng on the ir box or
a label on the box. To maintain the published Hearin g A id Compatibility (HAC) rating for this
mobile phone, use only the or igin al equi pm ent battery model.
This phone has been tested and rated for use with hearing aids for some of the wirel es s
technologies that it uses. H ow ever, there may be some newer wireless technologies used in
this phone that have not been tested yet for use with hearing aids. It is important to try the
different features of this phone thoroughly and in different locations, using yo ur hearing aid
or cochlear implant, to determi ne if you hear any interfering noise. Contact your service
provider or Motorola for info rmati on on hea ring aid c om patibil ity . If y ou have qu esti ons abou t
return or exchange policies , cont act y our s ervi c e provider or phone retailer.
The ratings are not guara ntees. Results will vary depending on the user’s he ari ng device and
hearing loss. If your h eari ng dev i c e happens to be vulnerable to interference, you may not be
able to use a rated phone succe ss ful ly. Try in g out the phone with your hearing device is the
best way to evaluate it for your perso nal needs.
M-Ratings:
Phones rated M3 or M4 mee t FCC requirements and are likely to generate le s s
interference to hearing devi ces than phones that are not labeled. M4 is the better/higher of
the two ratings.
T-Ratings:
Phones rated T3 or T4 meet FCC requirements and are likely to be more usab le
with a hearing device’s telecoil (“T Switch” or “ Telephone Swi tch ”) tha n unrated phones. T4
is the better/higher of the two ratings. (No te that not all hearing devices have telecoils in
them.)
Hearing devices ma y also be m easure d for im mun ity to this type of interferenc e. Your hearing
device manufacturer or h earing health profess ional m ay help you find re sults fo r your heari ng
device. The more immune y our hearing aid is, the less likely you are to experience
interference noise from mobile phones.
