What basic features are available in SporTrak
®
?
How do I install AA batteries in my SporTrak®?
How do I select language in my SporTrak®?
Why should I initialize SporTrak® after clearing the memory?
SporTrak™ basic features include the following: WAAS enabled Worldwide database of major city locations 1 Mb of additional up-loadable memory 9 navigations screens Stores up to 500 waypoints and 20 routes, (add 500,000 points of interest (with optional DataSend™ software Easy to read backlight screen Convenient front button keypad
SporTrak ® uses two AA batteries that you install from the bottom through the battery cover. To remove the battery compartment, loosen the retaining screw at the bottom of the battery compartment. The battery compartment will come free from the SporTrak ®and you can easily slide it out. Install two AA batteries, observing the correct polarity. Slide the battery compartment back into the SporTrak and tighten (but not overtighten) the retaining screw. Press the MENU button on the keypad select SETUP and press enter and select the language option. Press enter and use the UP/DOWN arrows on the keypad to highlight the language you desire and then press the enter button. The reason for initialization is to speed up the process for computing the first position fix when the SporTrak® has no last position computed in memory. This gives SporTrak® an approximate indication of where it is located so it can use its satellite almanac (Stores in permanent memory) to estimate which satellites are overhead and which one it should be looking for.

How do I convert from deg.min. to deg.dddd?
To convert to decimal degrees take the degrees plus the minutes/60. For example to convert 46deg30.00min in decimal degrees: 46 + 30/60 = 46.5 degrees. Likewise .5 degree = .5*60 = 30 minutes.

My SporTrak® cannot locate fnd satellites. What can I do to resolve this problem?
Where do I connect the wrist-strap on my SporTrak®?
Is it normal for the backlight to come on with an alarm?
First clear memory (as this will clear all your previously stored waypoints/landmarks, you may want to save them first). You can do this through the “CLEAR MEMORY” function within the “SETUP” menu. When memory is cleared, reinitialize your SporTrak® as if new and set outside for about 10 minutes to collect a new satellite almanac. This part of the process could take up to an hour. When you have accomplished this, your SporTrak® should be computing fixes and operating normally.
On the little D which is at the battery case screw.
It is and the backlights will not timeout.

The SporTrak® map has 2 Mb for basemap and 6Mb for detail maps. So, if a basemap is downloaded from the worldwide basemap, where is it saved on my SporTrak®?
Is it possible to upload maps to my SporTrak® (yellow and black model)?
Can I download the entire MapSend ™application map to my SporTrak®?
How can I view the region, which I have just loaded to my SporTrak®?
It is saved in the detail map folder (6Mb).
No, this unit is a basic GPS and is not intended for loading maps. You will want to look at the various SporTrak® models to find one that is capable of loading basic maps.
You cannot load the entire map to your SporTrak ®because SporTrak ® does not have enough internal memory to accommodate this download).
Go to the map screen. Zoom out to a level of 200 miles or more. You should see a small black box indicating the region you have loaded. Using the arrow keypad, place the cursor inside this box. Now zoom in to a closer range. As you zoom in details of the area loaded should begin to show at zoom levels of 0.40 miles and lower.

The PC shows that the firmware has completed loading, but my receiver is still on and I cannot turn it off.
I have loaded maps with the points of interest using MapSend™. But I don’t see the points of interest on map screen?
Why do my tracks have the wrong time stamp?
Try pressing the GOTO, ESCAPE, and ENTER keys simultaneously. If the unit does not power down, you may have to remove the batteries.
When you upload a map to the GPS, the point of interest goes with it, by default, but the point of interest icons are not displayed on the map screen. It’s easy to display some or all of them. Press the MENU key on the SporTrak®, select “Map Setup”, and use the cursor key to arrow right to the display tab. In this screen you can choose to display all the points of interest, not display any overlay features (clear all), or specify any particular points of interest categories you want to display. You can change your selection anytime. Also, even when points of interest are set to not be displayed, you can still search them, view them, and use them as routing destinations.
Your SporTrak® is based on UTC (Universal Time Clock) and not on the local time.

Can I get a Bluetooth® adaptor for my SporTrak ®?
What is the optimal com port setting for my SporTrak®?
What is EGNOS/WAAS?
What is the part number for carrying cases for SporTrak®?
We do not support any such activities and a customer is at his/her own risk.

EGNOS / WAAS are a technology which enables accuracy to be increased from 15-30m to 3-5m. The EGNOS/WAAS concept is to use a reference station network that enables differential GPS to achieve this level of accuracy. Part number for carrying case, belt clip (Black PN – 980630-01, green PN – 980630-02, and blue PN – 980630-

What map information can I transfer from MapSend™ BlueNav™ CD?
What is UTC?
What is a route?
What is UTM?
What is EULA
MapSend™ BlueNav® contains local marine charts, with tides, port services etc. You can load one chart at a time to your SporTrak®.
UTC is Universal Time Clock. It also known as GMT (Greenwich MeanTime). A route is a series of waypoints. When navigating a route, the GPS will automatically change the destination waypoint to the next waypoint on the list as it reaches each waypoint. The GPS receiver normally sounds an alarm, and requires an acknowledgment, before making any course change. UTM is Universal Transverse Mercator, a system of world coordinates such as latitude and longitude, from 80 degrees south latitude to 84 degrees north latitude, except the measurements are in meters and UTM lines are orthogonal (always at right-angles to each other). This projection makes all latitude and longitude lines (except the central meridians) curved.
EULA is End User License Agreement andcontains information about the warranty

My SporTrack® was stolen. Can Magellan help to find it?
What type of mounting brackets are used for my SporTrak®?
Will “DirectRoute” work on my SporTrak® map?
Unfortunately Magellan is unable to locate stolen SporTrak® units. . SporTrak® is a receiver and is unable to transmit it’s location to our facility
Vehicle mounting bracket (PN –
701259), swivel mounting bracket (PN – 701258), bike mounting bracket (PN
- 701260) can be used for SporTrak® .
We do not recommend using DirectRoute on the SporTrak® mapbecause the available memory on that unit is not enough for most people to load a reasonably sized DirectRoute map, (DirectRoute involves much more data per square mile than otherMagellan map products.)
