SystemOverview
MID144VehicleControlUnit
TheVehicleElectronicControlUnit(VECU)isamicroprocessor
basedcontroller,programmedtoperformseveralfunctions,
theseinclude:
•Drivercontrols
•Vehicleandenginespeedcontrols
•Startercontrol
•Cabpower
•Broadcastingdataontheserialdatalines
•Tripdatalogging
•Diagnosticfaultloggingandpasswordprocessing
TheVECUperformsthesefunctionsbymonitoringthesignals
fromsensorsandswitches,anddatareceivedovertheserial
datalinesfromtheothermodules.TheVECUdirectlymonitors
theThrottlePosition(TP)SensorandVehicleSpeedSensor
(VSS).
TheVECUalsomonitorsthepositionorstateofmultiple
switches,toperformitscontrolanddiagnosticfunctions.The
switchesinclude:
•A/CPressureSwitch
•AirSuspensionHeightControlSwitch
•DifferentialLockSwitch
•EngineBrakeSwitches
•IgnitionKeySwitch
•PTOSwitches(ifequipped)
•ServiceandParkBrakeSwitches
•SpeedControlSwitches(Set/Decel,Resume/Accel)
•5thWheelSlideSwitch
