MID144VehicleControlUnit
TheVehicleElectronicControlUnit(VECU)isamicroprocessor basedcontroller,programmedtoperformseveralfunctions, theseinclude:
Drivercontrols
Vehicleandenginespeedcontrols
Startercontrol
Cabpower
Broadcastingdataontheserialdatalines
Tripdatalogging
Diagnosticfaultloggingandpasswordprocessing
TheVECUperformsthesefunctionsbymonitoringthesignals fromsensorsandswitches,anddatareceivedovertheserial datalinesfromtheothermodules.TheVECUdirectlymonitors theThrottlePosition(TP)SensorandVehicleSpeedSensor (VSS).
TheVECUalsomonitorsthepositionorstateofmultiple switches,toperformitscontrolanddiagnosticfunctions.The switchesinclude:
A/CPressureSwitch
AirSuspensionHeightControlSwitch
DifferentialLockSwitch
EngineBrakeSwitches
IgnitionKeySwitch
PTOSwitches(ifequipped)
ServiceandParkBrakeSwitches
SpeedControlSwitches(Set/Decel,Resume/Accel)
5thWheelSlideSwitch
