Changes and Implementations
Support of IB-50 Step2 and IB-51
IB-50 Step2 and IB-51 planned in the future are now supported.
Change of the backlight control
when turning the user authentication
ON
The change was made so that the backlight will be turned OFF when
machine enters the sleep mode while it is always turned ON as long
as the user authentication is turned ON.
Support of the maintenance time
display of the paper feeding pulley
(of cassette and side paper feeder)
[Change of the maintenance mode]
(For more details, refer to page 4.)
The maintenance mode U250 and U251 were changed so that the
maintenance time of the paper feeding pulley per the paper feed unit
of the cassette and of the side paper feeder can be displayed.
U250 [Checking/clearing the maintenance cycle]
U251 [Checking/clearing the maintenance counter]
Auto switching of the default paper
source for the large capacity feeder
(PF-740/770)
[Change of the menu]
(For more details, refer to page 5.)
In order to equalize the frequency of the paper feeding pulley use on
the large capacity feeder (PF-740/770), the change was made so that
the paper source with smallest page counts will be selected as the
default paper source when turning the main power ON or recovering
from the sleep mode under the following conditions.
<Conditions>
- The machine has two or more large capacity feeders.
- The paper source has the same paper size and same media type
settings.
Change of the initial setting at the
maintenance mode U285 [Setting
service status page]
(For TA/UTAX only)
Although the initial setting of U285 is currently set to OFF for
TA/UTAX only, it was changed to ON. Additionally, the print coverage
is now indicated on the service status page.
Support of the languages for
KDKR/KDTW
Change of the maintenance mode
(U031/U052) according to disuse of
the REGIST LOOP sensor
U031: Checking switches and
sensors for paper conveying.
U052: Setting the fuser motor
control
(For more details, refer to page 6.)
The selection for the applied sensor setting at the maintenance mode
(U031/U052) was deleted due to disuse of the REGIST LOOP sensor.
U031 [Checking switches and sensors for paper conveying]
> Switch 3 Regist deflection sensor (RDS) --- Deleted
U052 [Setting the fuser motor control] > Chk Loop S ------------ Deleted

“Notes on replacement of the parts. (Disuse of the actuator in
between the middle sensor and the regist. sensor)”
Change of the toner replacement log
on the event log report
The record timing of the toner replacement log was changed as
follows.
(Old) Except for the replacement within the page counts of 100
(New) Except for the replacement within the page counts of 500
Reduction of the eject/feed shift
solenoid motion time
(Reduction of the motion noise)
The noise might be loud at the timing of switching the eject/feedshift
solenoid ON and OFF at every sheet when continuously printing out
to the job separator or the mail box. Therefore, the change was made
so that the eject/feedshift solenoid will not be turned OFF (other than
for when ejecting the paper in duplex mode).
Correction of the title message dropout in multi-language when installing
the security kit
The title message in multi-language except English might be blank
when inputting the security password. Therefore, this was corrected.

Measures against
JAM4001/JAM4002
JAM4001: Registration sensor non
arrival jam (Cassette 1)
JAM4002: Registration sensor non
arrival jam (Cassette 2)
The timing to turn the middle motor ON and OFF was revised since
the middle motor might step out, which might cause paper jam
depending on the timing of switching the paper source from the MPF
or from the side deck to the cassette 1 or 2.
Measures against the service call
error C8420 when outputting mixed
size paper
C8420: Punch slide motor error 2
In case of outputting papers in mixed size to the mail box in the
punch mode, the service call C8420 might appear when the ejected
paper size was switched from small to large. Therefore, this was
corrected.
Revision of the Hold time for the
stepping motor
In order to increase the margins against the step-out stepping motor,
the change was made so that the Hold time can be secured 20ms or
more when requested to turn ON again until the excitation is turned
OFF after slow-down of the stepping motor.
Measures against the printed

3. Support of the maintenance time display of the paper feeding
pulley of cassette and side paper feeder
It is now enabled to display the maintenance time of all paper sources.
The maintenance time of the paper feeding pulley per cassette and the large capacity
feeder was not conventionally displayed. However, U250 and U251 were changed so
that they can be displayed.
1. U250 ([Checking/clearing the maintenance cycle]) and U251
([Checking/clearing the maintenance counter]) were changed in order to enable
to refer, set and clear the page counts of each paper source from the added
Cass1 to Cass7 (except MPF and duplex section).
2. As for the optional feeder/deck, the installed one in the main unit is displayed.
3. The initial setting when shipping the machine from factory is the following.
U250: 150K; U251: 0
4. The count-up condition is based on the specs. of the page counts of the paper
source at U901.
5. In case of setting U250 to 0, the maintenance time will not be displayed.
6. As for the display on the Command Center (CCRX), they are displayed as the
item of the status message of the device status.
However, if the status with higher priority occurs, they are not displayed. Also,
if the maintenance time of the multi-paper source is reached at the same timing,
only one of them is displayed.
(It will not be reflected to the other utilities, etc.)
7. The following is required when upgrading the firmware in field.
- Change of the base page counts to 150K which was newly added to U250.
- Input of the page counts of U901 to the page counts for the maintenance in
U251.
(If exceeding 150K, please replace the paper feeding pulley with the new one
and input 0 to U251.)
* The machine shipped from the factory with the new firmware has no
particular problem.
8. If the message with higher priority is displayed on the panel, they are not
displayed.

4. Auto switching of the default paper source for the large capacity feeder (PF-740/770)
This change enables to automatically switch paper source to the feeder with the smallest page counts as default paper source
in order to equalize the frequency of the paper feeding pulley user at the large capacity feeder (PF-740/PF-770).
1. [02Auto Switch] was added to the paper source setting in the Menu.
[Menu] > [04 Print Setting] > [01 PaperSource Set.] > [01Paper Source]
> [02Auto Switch] (*) --- [off] or [on] <-- Added.
(*) Unless the cassette # of the large capacity feeder (PF-740 or PF-770) is selected in [01Paper Source],
[02Auto Switch] is not displayed.
The initial setting when the machine is shipped from factory is [on].
2. If the firmware was upgraded in field, [02Auto Switch] is set as [off]. Therefore, please change to [on] manually.
(For the machine shipped from the factory with the new firmware, it is not required to change the setting above.)
3. If all of the following five conditions are met, the auto switching of the default paper source will be executed only when turning
the main power ON or recovering from the sleep mode.
1) [02Auto Switch] is set to [on] which was newly added to [Menu].
2) The total number of the large capacity paper sources is two and more for the large capacity feeder PF-740/PF-770.
(As PF-740 contains two large capacity paper sources, this condition is fulfilled by installing one device.)
3) The large capacity feeder (PF-740 or PF-770) is selected in the paper source setting.
4) The multiple large capacity paper sources including the paper source have the same setting for paper size and media
type.
5) The large capacity paper source with smallest page counts (U251) of the applied large capacity paper sources will be the
default paper source. Please execute the following when upgrading the firmware in field since the designed operation will
not be executed unless the correct value is registered in U251.
- Input the page counts of U901 to the page counts for the maintenance in U251.
(If exceeding 150K, please replace the paper feeding pulley with the new one and input 0 to U251.)
