This product performs a self-commissioning test at rst power on. After charging for 24 hours a full duration test (3 hours) is performed. Initial function and
duration tests are randomly generated. They are then performed in accordance with standard requirements (every 30 days for function tests and every 52
weeks for duration tests).
A single bi-colour indicator and test button is tted to this product. This LED is clearly visible for manual inspection. It indicates the module status (see table
below). The LED shows permanent green or ashing green when conditions are normal and ashing red if a fault condition is present.
Function test
A function test is a 2 minute test that simulates a mains failure and checks the operation of the emergency light source from the battery supply. The local
indicator LED slow ashes green whilst the 2 minute function test is in progress. If there is a failure during a function test the local indicator LED changes to
a ashing red.
Duration test
A duration test simulates a mains failure. It also checks the operation of the emergency light source from the battery supply for the rated duration of the
module. The LED indicator fast ashes green whilst the duration test is in progress. If there is a failure during a duration test the indicator LED either
changes to a permanent or ashing red. The battery is required to be fully charged before a duration test can be started.

Installation procedure
1. Remove the two screws holding the diffuser to gain access to the interior.
2. Press the two tabs to release the LED tray to access the mains input terminal. This is hinged so
the LED tray remains attached to the body.
3. Cable entry is available through rear, top and bottom or both ends (ensure appropriate
grommets or compression couplings are used to maintain the IP65 rating where required).
4. Connect the mains input supply as indicated to the left for the required operation.
5. Connect the emergency battery leads to the circuit board where indicated.
6. Relocate the LED tray, ensuring it is secured using the tabs.
7. Ret the diffuser ensuring there is a good seal to maintain the IP65 rating.
8. Switch on mains supply and test for operation (allow 24hrs for batteries to charge).
9. Fit the legend on the front of the diffuser to suit the application from the four choices which
are included.
10. Familiarise yourself with the enclosed emergency ttings test record sheet and ensure it is
completed as required and left with the end user.

the non-adherance to these instructions. Our products are designed to comply with the requirements of UK law and the relevant industry national and
international standards and should not be modied in any way. All emergency lighting systems should comply with the recommendations of BS5266-1: Code
of Practice for the Emergency Lighting of Premises and be installed by competent engineers in accordance with the relevant wiring regulations. Before
installing any type of Emergency Lighting always seek the advice and approval of the local Fire Prevention Ofcer (or equivalent authority).
Maintenance
Failed or faulty light sources connected to this equipment should be replaced immediately. These units are designed especially for a long and trouble free life
and, under normal conditions, will require no routine maintenance or service beyond the inspection and test regime of BS5266-1.
Both mains supply and battery protection fusing is incorporated internally. Should access to these or any other part of the circuitry be required this must be
undertaken only by suitably qualied personel. Special care must be taken when removing the cover to circuitry and battery. Only replacement components
authorised by the company must be used. Disposal of replaced components should be in accordance with the component manufacturers instructions.
Routine Inspection and Test
All tests must be undertaken at times of least risk and in accordance with EN 50172:2004 as indicated below:
Daily: Indicators of central power supply shall be visually inspected for correct operation.
Monthly: (in addition to the daily check)
If automatic testing devices are used, the results of the short duration tests shall be recorded.
Test shall be carried out as follows:
a) Switch on in the Emergency mode each luminaire and each internally illuminated exit sign from its battery by simulation of a failure of supply to the
normal lighting for a period sufcient to ensure that each lamp is illuminated.
NOTE: The period of simulation failure should be sufcient for the purpose of this clause whilst minimising damage to the system components e.g lamps
During this period, all luminaires and signs shall be checked to ensure that they are present, clean and functioning correctly. At the end of this test period,
the supply to the normal lighting should be restored and any indicator lamp or device should be checked to ensure that is showing that the normal supply
has been restored.
Annually:
If automatic testing devices are used, the results of the short duration tests shall be recorded. For all other systems the monthly inspection shall be carried
out and the following additional tests made:
a) each luminaire and internally illuminated sign shall be tested Monthly as above but for its full duration in accordance with the manufacturer’s information;
b) the supply of the normal light shall be restored and any indicator lamp or device checked to ensure that it shows the normal supply has been restored.
The charging arrangements should be checked for proper functioning;
c) the date of the test and its results shall be recorded in the system logbook.
A copy of this report must accompany any tting returned to the manufacturer for any reason.
