Use only the power supply specied for this pro duct and certie d for the country of use. If the p ower supply is not provided with the product, please contact your reseller.
Desktop Power Su pply unit s have to be connecte d to the main s with one of the se cables:
Electrical power supply network
The elec trical ou tlet must m eet the following criteria :
Must be ins talled near the equipment and easily accessible; Must meet standards and regulations in the country of use. For typ e A plug, th e protec tion of the installation must be set to 20 A.
Explosion areas
Certain regulations restrict the use of radio equipment in chemical plants, fuel depot s and any site where blasting is carried out. You are urged to comply with these regulations. Th e terminal shall be protec ted by a specially t ted and certied cover enabling use in proximity to a fuel pump.
Bottom side compartment trapdoor
Locate d under the terminal, it must be in place during normal operation of the device.
Power cord 189609046 (European plug) Power cord 188413214 (US plug)
CAUTION Lithium battery cell The terminal is tted with a lithium batte ry cell which is not acces sible to the u ser. Only a qualied tech nician is authorized to open the unit and change this component.
Risk of explosion if the battery is replaced by an incorrec t type. Dispose of used bat tery according to the instructions.
3_2 Security of your terminal
(tampering attempt detection)
Your device fulls current applicable PCI P TS se curity requirements. Upon receipt of your terminal you should check for signs of tamp ering of the equipment. It is strongly advised that these ch ecks are performed reg ularly after receipt. You should che ck, for example: that the keypad is rmly in place; that there is no evidence of unusual wires that have be en conne cted to any port s on your terminal or associated equipment , the chip card reader or any other part of your terminal.

Page 8
Such che cks would provide warning of any unauthorised modications to your terminal, and other suspicious b ehaviour of individuals that have access to your terminal. Your terminal detects any “tampered state”. In this state the terminal will repeatedly ash the message” Alert Irruption!” and f urther use of the terminal will not be possible. If you obs erve the “Alert Irruption!” message, you should contact the terminal helpdesk immediately. You are strongly advise d to ensure that privilege d access to your terminal is only granted to staff that have been independently veried as being trustwor thy. The terminal must never be put in or left at a location where it could be stolen or replaced by another device.
Warranty label (under the trapdoor)
WARNING
If the warranty label is torn or removed, the warranty will be void.
CAUTION
Positioning of the Lane/500 0 on check stand must be in such a way to make c ardholder PIN (Personal Identication Number) spying infeasible. Installing device on an adjustable stand must be in such a way that consumers can swivel the terminal sideways an d/ or tilt it forwards/backwards to a position that makes visual observation of the PIN-entry process difcult. Positioning of in-store securit y cameras such that the PINentry keypad is not visible. NEVER ask the customer to divulge their PIN Code. Customers should be advised to ensure that they are not being overlooked when entering their PIN Code

3_3_2 Power characteristics
The Lan e/5000 can be p owered by several ways:
An external power supply unit. S ee the list of the auth orized power supply units in §3_1 page 6.
By POE (P ower over Ethernet) By USB (5VDC or 12V DC)
POE (Power over Ethernet)
The power s ourcing equipment must be compliant with IEEE8 02.3af standard, class 0 which means 12.95W max. POE implementation in the Lane 50 00 can suppor t both mode A and mode B.
USB
Lane/5000 needs 3.5W at 5V for good performances. Some options are not supported at 5V (Dual h ead, cam era, Wi, Bluetooth).
WARNING
The Lan e/5000 is not strictly compliant with standard USB 5V 500mA. Functional test has to be performed with your equipment to conrm that it can supply the required power and that transactions can be done without issues. If not, it will be necessary to us e an external power supply unit.

4_Installation
Install the terminal on a at surface, with an easy access to an electrical outlet. Place the terminal away from any heat source and protected from dust , vibrations and elec tromagnetic radiations (away from video terminals, PC, anti-shoplifting barriers . ..). The terminal is exclusively made for indoor use. The Lan e/5000 device may b e mounte d on a at sur face, wall, o r customer stand.
The Lan e/5000 device must be at least 30 centimeters (12 inches) away from an electronically active t ype of security tag deac tivation pad.

CAUTION
Do not place the Lane /5000 device on a PC monitor, adjacent to an elect ronically ac tive security tag deactivation system, or near other sources of magnetic elds.
An electronically ac tive system sends out a power ful and potentially disruptive signal to deactivate the security tag. If the Lane/500 0 device is placed too clos e to the sys tem’s pad, or placed above the pad, the product may not work prop erly.
A passive system is a permanent mag net type that does not send out a signal. T his type should not affect the Lane/5000 device.

5_1_1 Swiping a card
Insert the card manually in the reader,

the terminal, and slide the card from the
rear to the front in a continuous motion for
best results.
When sliding the card through the reader,
make sure that the magnetic stripe on the
card is facing the Lane/5000 display screen
(see Swiping a Magnetic Strip e Card).
Swipe the card with constant spee d, neither too slowly nor too fast , to maximize the reading efciency

Chip cards should be inserted into your
terminal as illustrated with the chip facing

Reading a contactless card
Bring the card to the active zone above the
contactless logo (at about 1cm).
Keep the card close to the contac tless logo

Your contac tless reader provides four contactle ss status lights located above the co ntactless logo.
When a contactless transa ction is started
the  rst (left hand) s tatus light will be lit
steadily; this indicates that the contactles s

When a contactless card is presented
to the contactless active zone during a
transaction the second, third and fourth
status lights will be lit in turn. The card
read is successful when all four status

6_Maintenance
CAUTION
Before making any operations of maintenance in the terminal, make sure that the power supply is disconnected.
6_1 Cleaning of the terminal
The out side of the terminals are sus ceptible to environmental pollutant s, as well as accidental spills or mishaps. It is just as important to clean the outside of th e Ingenico ter minal, with a safe and approved produc t, as it is to clean the inside. T he Ingenico dual wipe has both a cleaning wipe for removing ever yday contaminants and a dry wipe to completely remove any remaining dirt or solution. Clean equipment will function better then equipment that has been neglec ted. When used properly, Ingenico cleaning cards and wipes should prolong equipment life and minimize card read erro rs.
Today’s monitor s should not be cleane d with standard glass cleaners that contain chemicals too harsh for these sensitive scre ens: plasma television screens, LC D and LED m onitors, touch screen monitors and POS s creens all fall under this category. Ingenico dual wipes are designed specically for these type of monitors; removing dust, ngerprint s, oils or other contaminants that will distort the image on your screen. The Ingenico dual wipe has both a cleaning wipe for removing ever yday contaminants an d a dry wipe to completely remove any remaining dirt or solution. This produ ct work s best wh en the screen is cool, so before use turn the monitor/system off.
This produ ct can be used by anyo ne who can use a card rea der terminal, just:
• Remove the Step 1 cleaning wipe from pouch.• Wipe down the screen rst, then the keypad, top and sides of the terminal.• Remove the Step 2 dry wipe from pouch .• Wipe down the screen rst, then the keypad, top and sides of the terminal.• You may use both wipes to clean other areas of your POS equipment if necessar y.• Discard the cleaning wipes properly.

CAUTION
Do not use in any case, solvents , detergents or abrasive products:
those materials might damage the plastic or electrical contacts.
Avoid exposing th e terminal to the direct rays of the sun. Do not put anything into the slot of the smart card reader
