Forward/ReversehandleintheNEUTRALposition,turnthekeyswitchtotheOFFposition,andremove
thekey.Chockthewheelswhenservicingthevehicle.
•Improperuseofthevehicleorfailuretoproperlymaintainitcouldresultindecreasedvehicle
performance,severepersonalinjury,ordeath.
•Anymodicationorchangetothevehiclethataffectsthestabilityorhandlingofthevehicle,or
increasesmaximumvehiclespeedbeyondfactoryspecications,couldresultinseverepersonal
injuryordeath.
•Checkthevehicleforproperlocationofallvehiclesafetyandoperationdecalsandmakesuretheyare

closebeduntilallpersonsareclearofcargobedarea.Keephandsclearofallcrushareas.Donot
dropcargobed;lowergentlyandkeepentirebodyclear.Failuretoheedthiswarningcouldresultin

•Onlytrainedtechniciansshouldserviceorrepairthevehicle.Anyonedoingevensimplerepairsor

–Disconnectbatterycables,negative(–)cablerst(Figure2).
–Disconnectthesparkplugwirefromthesparkplug.
•Frameground–Donotallowtoolsorothermetalobjectstocontactframewhendisconnectingbattery
cablesorotherelectricalwiring.Donotallowapositivewiretotouchthevehicleframe,engine,or
anyothermetalcomponent.
•Wearsafetyglassesorapprovedeyeprotectionwhenservicingthevehicle.Wearafullfaceshieldand
rubbergloveswhenworkingonornearbatteries.
•Donotwearlooseclothingorjewelrysuchasrings,watches,chains,etc.,whenservicingthevehicle.
•Useinsulatedtoolswhenworkingnearbatteriesorelectricalconnections.Useextremecautionto
avoidshortingofcomponentsorwiring.
MODELIDENTIFICATION
TheserialnumberofeachHUV4213vehicleisprintedonabarcodedecalmountedontheframedirectlyabovethe
acceleratorpedal(Example:SH0501-583947)(Figure3).Thereisalsoasecondserialnumberdecalmountedon
thefrontbodyframebehindtheinstrumentpanel.Theinstrumentpanelmustberemovedtoviewthisdecal.See

KEYSWITCH
Thekeyswitchismountedontheinstrumentpaneltotherightofthesteeringcolumn(Figure4).Ithasthreepositions:
OFF,ONandSTART .T ostartthevehicle,placetheForward/ReversehandleintheNEUTRALpositionandturnthe
keypasttheONpositiontotheST ARTpositionandholduntiltheengineisrunningsmoothly.Releasethekeyandit
willreturntotheONpositionandtheengineshouldidle.Theenginewillcontinuetoidleuntilthekeyisturnedtothe
OFFposition.SeefollowingWARNING,CAUTIONandNOTE.

FORWARD/REVERSECONTROL
TheForward/Reversehandleislocatedontheseatsupportpanel(Figure5).Thehandlehasthreedistinctpositions:
F(FORWARD),N(NEUTRAL),andR(REVERSE).Rotatethehandletowardsthedriver(FORWARD)tooperatethe
vehicleintheforwarddirection,ortowardsthepassenger(REVERSE)tooperatethevehicleinreverse.Theengine
canbestartedonlywhenthehandleisinthestraightupposition(NEUTRAL).Theenginemustbeatidlebefore
shiftingtheForward/Reversehandle.SeeprecedingWARNINGandCAUTION.
Husqvarnavehiclesoperateatareducedspeedinreverse.Thereversebuzzerwillsoundasawarningwhenthe
Forward/ReversehandleisintheREVERSEposition.

Theacceleratorpedalisthepedalontheright,withthewordGOmoldedintoit(Figure6).
WiththeenginerunningandtheForward/ReversehandleintheFORWARDorREVERSEposition,vehiclespeed

BRAKEPEDAL
ThebrakepedalisthelargepedalontheleftwiththewordSTOPmoldedintoit(Figure6).Tosloworstopthe
vehicle,pressthebrakepedal(Figure7).
PARKBRAKE
Theparkbrakehandleislocatedbetweenthedriverandpassengerseats.T oengagetheparkbrake,rstapply
pressuretothebrakepedal,thenpullupontheparkbrakehandleuntilhandlelatchesintoplace.T odisengage,pull
uponthehandleandpressthebuttonontheendofthehandle.Pushhandledown.SeefollowingWARNING.
WARNING
•Theparkbrakehasmultiplelockingpositionsandshouldbermlylockedtopreventvehiclefrom
rolling.
LOCKOUTCAM
Thekey-startvehicleisequippedwithalockoutcamthatallowstheenginetobestartedonlywhenthe
Forward/ReversehandleisintheNEUTRALposition.Thelockoutcam(yellow)islocatedonthebackofthe
Foward/Reversehandleinsidetheenginecompartment(Figure8).
NOTE:Besurethecamisinthecorrectposition.Thecamshouldactivatethelimitswitchonlywhenthe
Forward/ReversehandleisintheNEUTRALposition.
