Server Features
The ProLiant DL380’s Integrated Smart Array Controller is a dual channel
Wide Ultra2 SCSI array controller. Both channels support Low Voltage
Differential (LVD) SCSI devices. SCSI Port 2 is dedicated to controlling the
SCSI drives in the internal drive bay. Port 1 supports the external SCSI
connector on the rear panel of the server or the internal devices in the
removable media area.

DRAM).
Error Checking and Correcting (ECC) memory uses an error-encoding
■
scheme for memory error detection and correction. Specifically, this
feature detects and corrects single-bit memory errors.
System is expandable to 4-GB of memory (when available) installed in
■
dual-inline memory module (DIMM) sockets. Memory can be expanded
one module at a time.

Slot location 1 is a 32-bit PCI expansion slot. Slots 2, 3, and 4 are 64-bit PCI
expansion slots. The 32-bit PCI bus provides data transfer rates of up to
133 MB/s while the 64-bit bus transfers at a rate of up to 266 MB/s. The PCI
bus provides peripheral transactions at a system clock speed of 33 MHz.

■
Pre-Failure Warranty
The Compaq ProLiant DL380 server includes a Pre-Failure Warranty for
processors, hard drives, and memory purchased from Compaq through
Compaq authorized resellers. Under the terms of this warranty, supported
components are eligible for replacement before they actually fail provided
that you use Compaq Insight Manager and that the system determines that
the supported components have degraded below predetermined reliability
thresholds within the product warranty period.
Insight Manager Alert
When Insight Manager alerts you that a component may be eligible for
Pre-Failure Warranty replacement, follow the on-screen instructions or contact
a Compaq authorized service provider in your area. A yellow status indicator
on the Insight Manager control panel signals that a component is in a degraded
condition and recommends that you replace the component in a pre-failure
condition.
