POWER SUPPLY

Operation with recharge­able batteries
When using the built-in rechargeable nickel metal hydride batteries, use the mains adapter supplied as a charger.
1 Plug the mains adapter into the
socket, and plug the mains
adapter into the mains socket.

Completely charge up the batteries (16 hours) before you first use them or if you have not used them for a long time.

During regular use, the charging time with the appliance switched off is around 8 hours. If you switch on the appliance while it is charging, charging will stop.

The ambient temperature should be between 5 °C and 40 °C.

When fully charged, the appliance works for around 45 minutes. It is not advisable to charge the batteries after every use, especially if you do not use the appliance for the full 45 minutes. Only charge the batteries when they are completely discharged. This increases their life. Do not charge them every day.
Using the charging unit 1 Plug the socket of the
appliance into the plug in the charging unit.
2 Plug the mains adapter cable
into the socket on the back of the charging unit.
3 Insert the mains adapter plug
in the socket.
Environmental note

This appliance contains nickel metal hydride batteries. Do not dispose of it with your house­hold waste at the end of its service life. Open the housing. Remove the batteries and take them to a battery collection box in a shop or public collection point.

Mains operation (with mains adapter)
Check that the voltage on the mains adapter type plate corresponds to the rated voltage of your local mains supply. The only way to disconnect the device from the mains supply is to unplug the adapter.
1 Insert the mains adapter plug
into the socket.
2 Insert the mains adapter plug in
the socket. – The built-in batteries are
switched off.
Note

Only use the appliance in battery mode when in the bath­room or beside a water connec­tion; never run it from the mains.

Function 1
Beard trimming ...
... using the wide side of the cutting head and the telescopic plug-in comb .
1 Make sure the appliance is
switched off.
2 Carefully plug the comb onto
the cutting head until it catches. Make sure it is the right way
round. You must be able to see the numbers on the comb on the back of the appliance.
Please note that the telescopic comb can only be used with the wide side of the cutting head .

3 Set the required beard trimming
length using the grade adjuster
on the telescopic comb.
The numbers 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 are the length in millimetres.
4 Then switch on the appliance
using the switch and start trimming your beard.
Move the appliance in the direc­tion your beard grows and make sure the comb is always in contact with your skin.

Function 2
Beard trimming ...
... using the narrow side of the cutting head without the telescopic plug-in comb.
Note that you cannot use the telescopic plug-in comb with this method.
The narrow side of the cutting head is used for precise trimming of small areas.
1 Make sure the appliance is
switched off.
2 Take off the comb :
Release the comb by gently pressing with two fingers on the release buttons on the side, and lift it off.
3 Taking off the cutting head or
accessories:

Grip the cutting head or the accessory from the side and turn it to the left until it is released.
4 Putting on the cutting head or
accessory: Turn the cutting head or accesso­ry by 180° to the new cutting position. Push the cutting head or the accessory into the housing and lock it by slightly moving it to the right and then gently pressing it down.

Danger of injury! When adjust­ing the cutting head, make sure you do not accidentally switch on the appliance with the switch

Beard trimming ...

1 The shaver is for complete
beard removal on selected, small areas.
Note that you must first trim long beard hair with one of the two blades or .
2 Make sure the appliance is
switched off.
3 Take off the head you were
previously using as described under function 2.
4 Put on the shaver as
described under function 2.
5 Then switch on the appliance
using the switch and start shaving.

Nostril hair removal ...

2 Take off the head you were pre-
viously using as described under function 2.
3 Put on the nostril hair trimmer

5 Carefully bring the nostril hair
trimmer up to your nostrils and trim off any protruding hairs.

General information
Vacuum system

The appliance is equipped with a state-of-the art vacuum system. As soon as you switch it on, the vacuum suction system is activated and the trimmed hair is hygienically caught in the collector .

Empty the collector every time you trim your beard, by pulling it out forwards, or as often as necessary during a trim.

Always put it back in after emptying it.
7
Make sure the three vacuum ventilation grilles are not covered while you use the appliance.

Useful tips

Hold the appliance with a relaxed and comfortable grip.

Always cut against the natural direction of the hair.
7
As you cut, take a break at regular intervals. You can always make a correction, but not once the hair has been cut.

Only cut a small amount the first time you use the trimmer. This is the only way to get used to the adjustable cutting lengths.
7
Comb your beard repeatedly (using the comb supplied). Look for hair which is too long.
7
To ensure good results, your beard should be dry.

CLEANING AND CARE

Cleaning and care
1 Switch off the appliance and
unplug it if you are running it from the mains.
2 Remove the comb attachment
if fitted, and clean the cutting head and other attachments with the brush supplied.
3 Only clean the housing and the
comb with a damp, soft cloth.
Note

Never immerse the appliance, lead or mains adapter in water or other liquids.
4 Before using the appliance
again, dry all parts completely using a towel.
5 Do not use cleaning agents. 6 Put the comb back on again.

Remove any clippings after each use.

Normally you do not need to oil the cutting head, because it is made of two different materials (ceramic and steel). If you want to maintain the original condition of the cutting head for as long as possible, it is worth oiling it at regular intervals (with the oil provided).
Storage
If you do not want to use the appli­ance for a long period of time, please store it carefully.
1 Ensure that it is unplugged and
is completely dry.
2 Store the parts in the original
packaging in a cool, dry place.
3 Make sure the appliance is kept
out of reach of children.
