2. Hidden Function Mapping (Default Configuration) Using the ON button as a shift key, press the following buttons to access the specified projector features.
Selection 1: ESC Selection 2: ENTER Selection 3: ADJUST LEFT Selection 4: ADJUST RIGHT
Off: MENU
Volume Up: ADJUST UP
Volume Down: ADJUST DOWN

II. Wiring Specifications
Although this driver does not use IR, SP Controls strongly recommends wiring for RS-232 and IR. Under certain conditions it may be necessary to control this projector through IR – see the Special Control Note in the Application Note below for more information.
NOTE: For a wiring diagram, please see the SP Controls Application Note.
Wire the Panel RS-232 port to a female DB9 as follows:
TX to 2
RX to 3
GND to 5
Connect this female DB9 to the projector port labeled CONTROL (RS-232C).
Wire the Panel IR/Serial port to a female 1/8" Mini as follows:
IR/SER to tip
GND to ring
Connect to the included IR Emitter and attach the emitter bud to the rear projector IR window. Note that the projector does not consistently respond when the IR emitter is attached to the front IR window.

III. Additional Projector Information
NOTE: For use with this driver, the Epson EMP-7800 should be running projector firmware version 2.05
or higher. For information on how to check your projector firmware version and instructions on how to upgrade if necessary, see the Projector Firmware Note in the Application Note below.
NOTE: The Epson STANDBY MODE must be set to NETWORK ON in the projector ADVANCED1 onscreen menu or the projector may stop responding to RS-232 commands. See the Special Control Note 1 in the Application Note below for more information.
NOTE: Several additional projector settings must be correctly configured for the Epson EMP-7800 to work with the SmartPanel. See Special Control Note 2 in the Application Note below for more information.
STARTUP SCREEN should be set to OFF in the ADVANCED1 Menu.
COM PORT must be set to RS-232 in the ADVANCED2 menu.
SLEEP MODE should be set to OFF in the SETTING Menu.
DISPLAY MESSAGE should be set to OFF in the SETTING Menu.

Epson EMP-7800
This document describes the SmartPanel Projector Driver for the Epson EMP-7800 projector. For more information on configuring and using the Panel see the SmartPanel Configuration and Installation Guide.
NOTE: For RS-232 control, the Epson EMP-7800 should be running projector firmware version 2.05 or higher. For information on how to check your projector firmware version and instructions on how to upgrade if necessary, see the Projector Firmware Note below.
NOTE: The Epson STANDBY MODE must be set to NETWORK ON in the projector ADVANCED1 onscreen menu or it may stop responding to RS-232 commands. See Special Control Note 1 in Section
II, Control Wiring below for more information. If you are unable to set STANDBY MODE to NETWORK ON, an IR-only version (Revision C) of this projector driver is available. Contact SP Controls technical
support for more information.
NOTE: There are several additional projector configurations which are required for use of the Epson projector with the SmartPanel. See Special Control Note 2 in Section II, Control Wiring below for more information.

I. PROJECTOR CONTROL

A. Volume and Power Control

Volume control on the Epson is relative. Absolute volume control for the Epson is also possible with use of SP Controls’ optional Audio Follow Video Pre-Amplifier.

B. Input Selection Mapping

The following table specifies the factory-preset input mapping for this Driver. The Configuration Utility can be used to customize these settings your installation.
