Overview
The DM-MR123 is an optional magnetic stripe reader (MSR) unit for the IR Series. Data read by the MSR unit is transferred via the IR Series keyboard interface.
The DM-MR123 can read the following magnetic stripe cards (hereafter referred to as magnetic cards):
ISO 7811, JIS X6301 type I, track 1, 2, and 3
An LED on the DM-MR123 and a buzzer indicate whether the unit has read the data correctly or not.
The update of the keyboard firmware and the installation of the attached utilities are required to use the MSR unit.

How to Update Keyboard Firmware (for IM-300 only)
Note:
Please do not execute on the IM-310.
English
If you are using the old version of keyboa rd firmwar e (version 2.00 or below), you cannot use the DM-MR123. You must update the keyboard firmware.
The DM-MR123 package provides a update file (INSTKBF.BAT) that checks the version of the keyboard firmware and updates the old version to the newer version. Run this update file before using the DM-MR123. Once it has been run, it is not necessary to run it again. The INSTKBF.BAT update file also is supplied with the 28key keyboard unit (DM-KR028), but even if you have updated the keyboard firmware with that file, you have to run this update file attached to this product again.
When the keyboard firmware is updated using the attached update file, the key definition data for the DM-KR028/DM-KR084/DMMR111 and the keylock definition data will be copied and restored automatically and you do not have to worry about losing th em.

Note:
Updating the keyboard firmware cannot be performed from the MSDOS prompt of the Windows.
3. Insert the duplicate Setup Utility diskette into the floppy disk drive.
Note:
Be sure to remove the write protection from the diskette because key definition data and system variables will be written to the diskette during the keyboard firmware update.
4. Change the current directory to the floppy disk drive by typing the following and pressing
A:
5. Run INSTKBF.BAT on the duplicate Setup Util ity diskette by typing the following and pressing
