There is a remarkable history behind Energy's 30-year quest to
design speaker systems that enable you to experience sound in all
its dimensions. Through tireless research, countless measurements
and listening tests, Energy engineers achieved the technological
breakthroughs that made it possible to reach their ultimate goal of
truly lifelike speaker performance.

Their designs focused on three critical goals:

1. Flat On-Axis Frequency Response with Wide Bandwidth – Makes
it possible for a speaker to reproduce the entire audio range in a
uniform manner.

The History Of Veritas

Veritas V2.8 - Incorporating 25 years of speaker design know-how,
the flagship Veritas V2.8 project involved over three years of
intensive development by the Energy engineering team. This
extraordinary loudspeaker encompassed every technological
breakthrough learned in the quest for sonic perfection. The
introduced the remarkable Convergent Source Module to the
speaker world. This revolutionary design combined dome midrange
and dome tweeter transducers, each in its own chambers within the
CSM module. The resulting wide dispersion produced superb stereo
imaging. Accuracy and clarity were breathtaking. The woofers were
nestled in carefully crafted internal structures that were an integral
part of the speaker enclosure. By eliminating magnet movement,
this greatly reduced distortion and resonance in the bass
frequencies. Award-winning and utilized by numerous audio
reviewers as their "reference" speaker, the
sonic revolution.

Veritas V1.8 – The V1.8 encompassed everything learned from
the development of the V2.8. The V1.8 had identical design goals
with the exception of being smaller in size. Smaller size translated
into a lower price and meant that more consumers could enjoy the
Veritas experience in their homes.

cabinetry, the resonance-reducing Veritas Bracing System, the rigid
rear-mounted woofer stabilizer and other exclusive technologies
helped achieve Veritas’ lofty sonic goals in a less costly structure.
The now popular Veritas sound was produced in greater quantities
becoming affordable to almost anyone.

In this new series, the Convergent Source Module was further
refined. It utilized a 2-inch midrange dome improving sound
dispersion even further. The big news though, was the Dual Hyper­Drive Woofer. This was the first ever implementation of a dual voice
coil woofer with a single magnet structure in a passive speaker. It
provided symmetry to the forward and backward motion of the
woofer and effectively reduced distortion by two-thirds – a
remarkable achievement that was clearly audible. The
quickly won awards around the globe due to its unparalleled
accuracy and lifelike reproduction.

Third Generation Veritas "i" series – The latest innovations and
technology have been incorporated into the new "i" series Veritas
Speakers. A completely new Dual-Hyper-Drive woofer is employed,
improving dynamics, lowering distortion and improving resolution.
Coupled with the Convergent Source Module, the new Dual Hyper­Drive woofer creates a formidable performance team. The new

the midrange accuracy.

Chambered Drivers

The Midrange and Tweeter
drivers are individually
chambered which provides
them their own operating

Dispersion Graph

This graph shows why Energy incorporates specific driver sizes that
share dispersion characteristics. If a speaker is designed utilizing
an 8" woofer and a 1" tweeter (using a 3kHz crossover point, typical
in many current speakers), the dispersion of some frequencies is
narrow while being acceptable in other frequencies. This inconsistent
dispersion results in an unnatural midrange tone, and a poor
sounding speaker.

Energy Veritas speakers utilize a 6-1/2" woofer, a 2" midrange
dome (with a crossover point of 550Hz) and a 1" dome tweeter
using 2,000Hz as a crossover point. In this design, each driver is
operating in its appropriate frequency range, and due to design

similarities they exhibit the correct dispersion properties. The result
is a speaker system that has wide dispersion, and it is constant across
the entire audible audio spectrum.

Distortion Graph

This graph shows the difference in total harmonic distortion
between a traditional woofer design and Energy’s exclusive
Dual-Hyperdrive woofer. The reduction in distortion, especially
at very low frequencies is approximately 2/3 less. Utilizing the
Dual Hyperdrive woofer in the Veritas series drastically improves
tone and clarity in the bass frequencies, resulting in flawless
sound reproduction.

Surround Sound Solutions

Energy Soundfield Management System

The Veritas V2.0Ri surround speaker is equipped with the exclusive
and patented Soundfield Management System or SFM. SFM is a
unique combination of a two-way forward radiating speaker, and
two specially designed side-mounted midrange drivers.

Featuring a front mounted control panel, this innovative system
allows you to switch the speaker from a monopole or direct radiating
speaker, to a bi-pole or a di-pole surround speaker. The level control
allows you to adjust how much of the side mounted surround drivers
are involved in the speakers’ sound. No other speaker in the world
allows this level of flexibility.

V2.0Ri even has a special “Corner” mode that allows the

speaker to be installed into a corner if necessary. This mode will shut
off the side firing midrange driver that is pointing directly into the
corner. By removing this reflection of sound, the speaker will maintain
its expansive sound even when placed in less than optimal locations.

What the SFM system does technically is adjust the direct to
reflected ratio of sound, which is how the human ear detects the
direction of a specific sound. What SFM does for you is to allow easy
and accurate adjustments providing the best performance for your
specific listening room environment as well as playback of
different source material.

The Soundfield Management System allows the listener to
experience optimal surround sound performance using less than
optimal speaker placement. This is just one more example of the
incredible performance quality you’ve come to expect from Energy
Speaker Systems.
